The Castelli Speedsuit Exchange Thread

Team,

Now that the EN 10 Year Anniversary Speedsuits have landing in people's mailboxes, I've been contacted by people who have sizing issues.

As you know, these suits are made-to-order by the manufacturer and we do not maintain an inventory to facilitate exchanges. However, what we can do is provide everyone with a convenient place to hopefully exchange items with your fellow teammates for the correct size.

Please feel free to use this thread to post a suit for sale, exchange, etc. Thanks!

  • I have a Large, but think I may need an XL. I am typically between a M and L. Is everyone saying they are running smaller than the size the sizing chart put them in?

yup, Castelli is famous for running a size smaller than what you think you should be. (read this disclaimer by one retailer) I contacted the store directly before production to change my top from a M to a L, my invoice packed with the items shows L, but then someone crossed it out with pen & wrote M, trying to sort that out. I thought I'd be safe with an M bottom, but that's a bit tight as well... Trying to find the positive here, but I was reliant on Coach R's assertion of being an M and I was the same as him for the LG TriSuit... Hopefully we can get enough swaps going here... otherwise it looks like I won't be racing LP in EN gear...  :'(

    I have -
    M top, looking for a L
    M bottoms, looking for a L
  • the shorts are cut low in the front and the shirt is cut very high in the front while there is plenty of extra in the back of the shirt.  I like the pockets though.
  • Hmm, I fit in the medium LG tri suit - just wore one! That's why I ordered the Casteli in a large. Maybe I should try the top on one more time... But, Scott, maybe you can find someone to whom to sell your mediums, and I could then sell you my larges? However, my bottoms have not come in yet. I ordered the bottoms in the reorder. Very curious as to how they will fit.

I do love the feel of the top. Very comfortable around the arms without the seam that the LG had. I suppose I could then do a re-order when it comes back around for XLs.
  • I'd love to do what you say above, but now scared that I'd need a XL...

I think Rich's assertion of "My body measurements fit the medium kit and the medium kit fits me. It's true to size." was off somehow, clearly Castelli is notorious for running small..

gonna be a lot of small people scoring some nice kit from people that want to re-order...
  • @dinhofer - I wear a Medium Shorts and Large top.   Yes they are tight, but we are talking about a super-fast aero kit, it's supposed to be tight...   Like as tight as you can squeeze into.  If it's loose or there are any wrinkles in the material, you just wasted a bunch of $$ buying an "aero" kit that is not being worn the way it was designed to be worn.  There is not a chance on this earth that you are supposed to be wearing an XL...

@Robert Sabo The extra material in the back of the shirt is to try to avoid the tramp stamp sunburn just above your shorts when in the aero position on your bike for 5+ hours.  Not sure why they didn't add a little extra in the front to hide my belly roll.

  • @John Withrow that's good insight. If I can squeeze into it, maybe it is the right size. I just need the shorts now to try on. I wonder when the re-order is coming in?

Totally agree. I can make the shorts work in Medium.. the ladies may not like it :o

as for the top, not even going there, I changed my friggin order with castelli directly, to a L, thier invoice printed out from computer says Large, someone hand wrote Medium and crossed out the L, now trying to figure it out with them.
  • I ordered large top and bottoms and not come yet. You guys have me worried.
  • @Scott Dinhofer if you want to sell your kit to me I think it'll fit.  Let me know

@Trent Prough - keeping the bottoms, have a new top on its way to me. want the medium top only? happy to ship to you to try and settle up after.. email me sdinhofer@gmail.com
  • @Scott Dinhofer If I can find someone to get me bottoms I will take the top.  Now the question is who has M bottoms they want to get rid of??

All - sounds like many of you have already received the kit. Is there a way to track to see where things stand?  Haven't received mine yet and still crossing fingers a) that it fits and b) I can use it for my half in 2 weeks time.

    @Julie Pfeifle
    @Natalie Cayer
linking the ladies in to see how sizes are doing on your end.  No offense to the gentlemen above....however always welcome to reach out to us if you need to go smaller!
  • Haven't received mine yet either. I'll update re: sizing as soon as I do. I'm nervous...
  • The men received theirs but the ladies didn't ... the Castelli folks need a lesson in Southern manners
  • Tried mine on yesterday; large top and bottom both fit; rather sung but acceptable

The zipper doesn't seem to stay in place when zipped.  It zipped down with even mild pressure across the top of the outfit.  Anyone else having that issue?  It seems to be a locking zipper so when it's tucked down it's okay; worried about it coming undone during transition
  • curious if people from both orders have received or only the first group?
  • Everyone,

Please understand that we've done two orders through Castelli so far, its important to know in which group you placed your order so you can have realistic shipping expectations:
    • 1st order: organized in Feb and place with Castelli in late Feb / early March -- this has shipped out to everyone so the discussions you see here regarding fit, etc is among this group of folks.
    • 2nd order: organized and placed in April. This will ship in late May / early June.
So look at the date of your order confirmation and you'll know to which group above you belong. This is especially true for the ladies. Y'all were in that second group which should be shipping in a couple weeks.
  • As for the next order, I'll likely fire up another one at the end of this month, for delivery in late June.
  • Fit: @John Withrow got it right. This is super tight aero fit kit that is for racing only. You should have completely different fit expectations here vs civilian tri or cycling kit.
  • @Coach Rich I just got around to trying on my top from the original order.  It is a MENS medium.  My women shorts were cancelled from the first order as there were not enough to meet the minimum.  I THINK I ordered a women's top.  Was it changed due to lack of orders?  I have a unisex LG speed suit and really was looking forward to a women specific kit.

This top is a bit wrinkly in the shoulders as I am, well, not a dude.  Please advise....
  • I'm sure Withrow could give you some deltoid and trap exercises to work on that and fill it out better.  How about swimming with paddles more?
  • @Trish Marshallas far as I knew..all tops were unisex so what I did was to take a ladies size and go down one. Castelli told me this should be a good fit but listening to you...I will wait and see when it arrives.
  • @Dawn Cass ok.  I may have known that lol. I do have the mens medium speed suit from LG.

I may just have to find my shoulder pads from the 80's since I am too lazy to do extra workouts as @Robert Sabo suggested! ;)
  • @Trish Marshall - the tops are unisex, that is why I didn't order one.  I was afraid it wouldn't fit right and since we couldn't try on first, I didn't want to spend all that money on something that may not fit.  That being said, if anyone ordered a small top and it doesn't fit, I would be willing to try it.

My shorts have not arrived, but like Coach Rich said, I believe they won't be here until June.  I ordered a medium - hope they fit.  Now I am nervous after reading all of this :#
  • @Ellen Sauter don't worry too much about the shorts.  They are women specific and I'm sure fit according to sizing chart.  I have a pair on order as well from the second group order since minimums were met.  I am hoping once I fiddle with attaching the top to the shorts it will smooth out a few of the little wrinkles.

fyi... I just got an email from UPS, saying that my Castelli order should arrive this Wednesday.  I'm now feeling like I should go on a diet!  Will let you all know how it fits and see if we need to do some swapping.
  • @Julie Pfeiflethanks for heads up....mine arrived on Saturday....at home however I was down south racing CHOO half!! Will see how it fits when I get back home this week.
  • does anyone want to sell a medium top and small or medium (men's) shorts?  BTW, I fit in a medium stealth T1 top (raced in one at IMMt last year) and I fit in a XS garneau course m-2 suit.

My kit arrived! I LOVE the size M women's shorts, and well... the XS unisex top - I could hardly zip it around my bigger than I'd like right now tummy, and after zipping it up and inhaling, it zipped right back down.  :o  After ensuring the zipper was "locked" down flat, it was fine, but that does make me a little nervous!!  It definitely showed my rolls, but... it actually fit ok, and I loved the kind of sticky bottom hem that seems like it will keep it from rolling up.  I'm thinking a size S might be better, but if I attain my race weight (~ 5-10 lbs lower), I think I'd be ok. FYI, I'm 5'6" & 130.  How are your kits??
