Margie Selby Year One Micro Thread

Here's your personal Micro Thread, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is here to guide you through your first year on EN, so you can always come back here.

As you'll see in this forum, I handle all manner of edits and changes.  So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

  • I chose EN because I like the flexibility that you guys offer in terms of volume when we have time constraints. And, of course, I know you have great results. I fashioned a training plan for myself and found that I was constantly second guessing my plan, so here I am for your expertise! Now I can just follow your plan and stop overthinking!
I love training and race so that I stay accountable.  As an older athlete,I get a kick out of spectators saying I "inspire" them; a polite way of saying "wow at your age?!"  I hope to finish feeling pretty good physically with a competitive time (top 5-10 age group) and of course I would still like to sport  a six pack. At least it's a goal, folks.
  • @Margie Selby - that's what we specialize in… Giving you the right work out for every single day. The six pack part is optional, but if you earn one this season we 100% claim all the credit!  :D
  • @Margie Selby I know you had questions about altitude...I wanted to point you to this forum thread which has some great thoughts for you on making the most of your experience at altitude.

As for the Top Three things...I think it's:

    I hope that helps!!!

  • @Margie Selby  - so great to chat with you and hear about your bike tour...sounds amazing (even if painful for your Hubby)!!!!

I know we discussed a run video review, so let me know how you want to handle getting me that video. I'll work around you.

With your race in November, heading out in early October for your week away "hiking" with the boys sounds just fine to me. You'll either be in week 14 or 15 of the plan...week 15 is a big bike week and I'd like you to "do" that when you get back....lots of time on the bike is the easiest way to ramp back into it.

So before you go, let's make sure your run is progressing well and that you've hit a 2 hour run before you depart. It will be nice to have that in your back pocket as you head out for Heat Acclimation.

You mentioned adding weights ... Monday and Friday are what I prefer for the Body Weight stuff, nothing to flashy. You are welcome to do nightly core as well....about 15 minutes as you wind down your day. It can do wonders for your mind and 5 x 15' is 75' of core!!
    :o

I'd love that picture of you on your tribike when you can, posting here is fine. And as for your nutrition focus, here is our main resource page!

    Chat soon,

    ~ Coach P
