Valerie Nolan Year One Micro Thread

Here's your personal Micro Thread, as promised. This is where you'll return to post all your "coach" questions as responses; I'll see them and reply. This first post is here to guide you through your first year on EN, so you can always come back here.

As you'll see in this forum, I handle all manner of edits and changes.  So post away, know that I reply here usually M/W/F each week.

Your Homework

Tell Us Why You Choose EN & Your Season Goals

  • Please reply below with WHY you chose Endurance Nation and WHY you train/compete.
  • Whenever possible, please identify your goals -- time, body composition, completion...the sooner you put them down the sooner we can get towards achieving them.

Looking forward to working with you this year,

  • @Valerie Nolan -- Great to talk yesterday...I think you will be ready for the big day, but we need to get some basic things done to focus on what matters. There will be a fair amount of learning as we get to know each other, so thanks in advance for your patience.

    • Step One: Get that Heart Rate Monitor and start wearing it. Since it's a garmin, your teenage kids should be able to get it to upload to GarminConnect. Bonus if they can help you create a Strava Account and then have GC auto send it over there (instructions here: http://bit.ly/2s370iB)...I say this as Strava is great for me to check in on as a coach.
    • Step Two: Dial in some other food options for you. Can you eat any of the following when working out?  Clif Bloks, Sport Beans, Stinger Waffles, etc. I am not a fan of PBnJ on race day (too much fat) so hoping we can find some other options here. Let me know.
    • Step Three: Load up the Beginner 2017 EN*Full to end on 8/20/2017. You do this yourself on the My Plan page and set it to end on 8/20...this will then show you your workouts that we need to begin integrating.
    • Extra Help: Brenda is here to help you get that plan loaded and help you understand the lingo if required...honestly I just want to get you on the schedule (Bike 3x a week for the time listed) and the intervals can come later. You can reach out to Brenda here: https://calendly.com/sross8546/welcome/06-28-2017 and she can help you out.

Yes, it's a bit extra, but I promise these are really good tips that will start getting you dialed into having a solid race. Besides, your kids are SUPER SMART so I know they'll help you!  :D

Looking forward to connecting with you soon!
