Show me your ride! I'll start...

3.0 had a thread like this, so I'm bringing it back to 4.0.  Below is my Cervelo R3 custom painted by Hottubes. Factory 2010 SRAM build with Selle Italia SLR Kit Carbonio Flow saddle, and Hed Jet 50 PT wheelset.

The October OS knows what I've been through with this bike (damaged by UPS during original shipment, UPS agreed to pay to have it repainted, after being painted, it was AGAIN damaged in shipment, finally received it undamaged this week after two months) so I'm thrilled to finally have my bike and must say I'm really happy with the way it turned out (oh yeah and it rides like a dream!).

Shots are after the maiden voyage this morning down the California coast (with lots of time at or above FTP).

  • Nice! Like the very Euro white bar tape and seat.
  • Dude, that is a sweet bike. I'm hankering for a new road bike and this is the one I've been eyeing. It is tough to go back to aluminum on my road bike after riding the carbon TT bike. Did Cervelo switch to SRAM for the 2010's? Their website still shows Shimano. Where did you find the best deal?
  • Looking to add this to my collection after the Prough Tri-stuff garage sale

    .

This should go well with my Pinarello TT bike above

  • This is just before IMWI last year. I no longer have the Zipps and I've taken a few spacers out. I want to put a compact crank and a deep front wheel on it next year.

I was in the same boat as you and found a sweet deal I couldn't pass up.   Force was definitely an option in 2009.  I'll shoot you a message regarding where to get the best deal.

    Congrats on IMAZ!

  • Those are some seriously sweet rides, boys. I really love the idea of coordinating Pinarellos. Seriously stylish there.

    Meet Dash, my new Kestrel.

She has a white rear wheelcover. I'm thinking the pink Adamo has got to go. Should I replace it with blue? red? Any thoughts on how to make my bike conform to the 'pro style guide would be most welcome.

  • I've loved my P3C since the first moment I got on it.

In hindsight, it's probably not ~quite~ the right size for me, but Todd helped me spec it out a little better. In any case, I was able to ride it to a respectable 5:25 at IMFL and stay on my watt goal, so can't ask for more than that I s'pose.

Specs: Cobb Flow saddle, Compact FSA Carbon Crank, DA spec, Zipp 404 Wheels with Wheelbuilder cover. Nytro Speedfil water bottle. iBike iAero Power Meter coupled with a PT SL+. Fuel Belt "bento box" and Fuel Belt gel flask holder. Only diff  between my race setup and training setup is for training I have my portable speakers mounted on the side of the top tube to have tunnage while riding. That and no disc cover of course. Note the sticker which reads: "Ride it like you stole it!".

  • Here 'tis.   Cervelo P3-SL (it's almost 5 years old now!!  image ),  Campy Record Driverain, few custom manufactured components by Kultbike (Carbon Cranks, Brakes), Easton AeroForce Bars.

This was when it was first put together before my bike fit.   Looking to upgrade the frame to either a P3C (lots out on the market) or possibly a P4 but would rather get a PowerTapSL and rebuild my Zipp.  (Just got iBike Aero which I haven't installed yet and plan to add on the metrigear PM  the Spring)

Hoping my power comes back after almost 2 year hiatus....  giddy up!

    Cervelo P3-SL

  • Tavis -- I love that Cervelo paint scheme. Classic.

  • Thanks Beth image

It's got that crazy T-Fal Teflon like coating so nothing sticks to it which helps in keeping it clean .   I've since replaced the decals on the Zipps to the black versions so it looks very "stealth fighter" like...  Been reading the threads about the aero wheel covers too so it could end up looking like something out of battlestar galactica lol...

I've still got a hankering to upgrade the frame to a P3C but we'll see what happens in the next few months.  If I get myself back over 300watts FTP, maybe that'll be my reward

  •  This is what I have been riding lately.  It is a S1 which I built last winter as a project with an Ultegra Kit. Could not justify having 2 "expensive" bikes and wanted something passable for group rides.  This fits the bill nicely and I think it looks pretty badass with with white saddle, tape, cable housing etc.

Do it! If I can have an aero wheel cover, so can you. I'm trying to decide if I want to paint a cool design on my white cover. You should definitely go Battlestar. Maybe your big needs a big, red cylon eye?

  • This is my new frame. It arrived about a month ago and is sitting in a box in the pain cave. I'm really jazzed to own and will be stoked to ride it. This was David Zabriskie's Felt DA  that was ridden to the Stars and Stripes. I just had Argyle Zipp decals made by Tai but will wait to post until the final build this Spring. It pays to be on the Garmin-Slipstream email list, I grabed this sucker within 5 mins of getting the email.

I'll fix the picture at home

Let me know if you have iBike iAero questions. Been riding one for a year now and love it love it love it!

  • Lots of great pictures so far.

@Hayes, I can't wait to see the final build and awesome story about how you got it/previous owner!

Here is the outcome of last winters project.  Currently it is in peices in the basement again while I collect a few more parts so I can complete this winters project.

  • Awesome James! Thanx, I'm sure I'll be contacting you re iBike!
  • I've ridden my unicycle to victory in many triathlons ...

I hope next year to be able to afford the rest of the bike:

Then it will look like this:

It's the titanium S&S couplers which make this possible. I've saved at least $1,000 in airline fees this year alone; over the ten year life of my TT bike, these savings have more than covered its original cost.

The bike FULLY loaded for an Ironman, with hydration, food, and repair equipment weighs a tad less than 20#. It fits into a 26" airline legal aluminum suitcase, which can be seen here

  • That thing is flipping cool Al!!
  • Were the couplers done as a retrofit? At one time, ABG was selling their QR Santo with a SS option, but I can't recall if they had  that option for your model.  In any case, way cool and way smart.

And you must be stifling laughter when you nimbly carry your case by the other athletes' Trico and Tri-All-3 bike coffins.

Actually, I had the bike custom fitted/built in April 2000, and requested that Merlin (who was fabricating QR's designs at the time) put the couplers in at the factory. They said it was the first time they'd done that. I've since seen at least one other example of the same model QR with the couplers, and as you say, some manufacturers are offering this now. Problem is, of course, that the spot for the couplers must be round, so aero freaks may be a little perturbed.

I used to do a lot of Xterra races (8 x to Maui), so I've had a lot of esxperience dragging a double wide Tri All 3 around. I most enjoy being able to rent a sub compact and still carry my bike box to the venue.

  • After many agonizing months I finally pulled the trigger. I just hope I am worthy of riding a bike like this

Tavis, I rode a P2-SL for 3 1/2 years, and absolutely loved it!  Same flat black finish that you have.  I had been eyeing the red/white/black P2C's for a while (same paint scheme as Chris G's S1), but had a hard time justifying the upgrade.  I ended up finding one on ebay in my size and the right price range, just a few weeks before IMWI last year, and pulled the trigger.  It was no problem to switch bikes so close to the race day, since it was the exact same frame geometry.  I'm really glad I upgraded to the carbon.  It's such a sweet ride!  You won't regret it...  image

  • Gee..I guess im the lonely aluminum guy:

Im thinking about upgrading next year. Probably P3.

  • I can't resist posting a bike picture when I see these threads....

Here is the current tri bike.  I put the race wheels on for the picture but it would need a little work to be race ready.

The combination of switching to a -17 stem late last year and then moving my set up 2 cm has caused the horrible spacer issue below, but I will fix it with the new bike as it has a more appropriate stack height for the stem/bars I run.

  • Matt:

I'd be proud of that bike, too.  That is one sweet, sweet ride.

This is my current tri bike.  2008 Lucero Lite.  I've replaced the Ergomo with a Quarq/Joule combo so that I'm now all wireless.  Also now have SRAM 10 sp drive train with R2C shifters.

Just pulled the trigger on this bad boy as a new road bike.  I'm hoping it's waiting for me when I get home today.

And here she is all put together.

  • This way I can keep my  hotdogs and beer cold while I ride

  • Very, very nice Hayes!!  That is all that is needed to say.

  •

Here's my baby (minus last years upgrades- Hed bars, Sram Red compact cranks and PT hub for the Zipp- bye bye wires!)  I'll have to clean her up and get a new photo for the album!
