For those watching, or still considering this (we have one or two beds available and can always add an air mattress! here's a rundown of the proposed camp rides -

    Ride #1  Wednesday

    Ascutney and Okemo mountain climbs

    61 miles & 7300’ of climbing.

    https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28280337

This ride is a 60 mile loop that includes the option to climb two mountains via out and back roads to the top, Ascutney and Okemo.

The climbs are included in the total mileage and elevation, dropping Ascutney removes 7 miles and 2200’ of climbing. Dropping Okemo removes 8 miles and 2100’ of climbing. Dropping both earns you a lot of heckling from the crowd!

This ride begins with a roughly 950’ climb from mile 1 to mile 4.5, from there it’s 16 miles downhill or a downhill false flat to the base of Ascutney mountain. From the base of Ascutney to the base of Okemo is 20 miles over a mostly false flat with one 600’ climb along the way. Riders should all attempt the Ascutney climb, though it is the steeper of the two and at least give the Okemo Mountain road a shot! (you may quit okemo before reaching the ski area as that initial climb out of town is one of the worst sections!)

    Details on the two climbs

    Ride #2 Thursday

Six Gaps, four gaps, or drive up the course and do a two gaps loop!

Six Gaps 135 Miles 12,600 ft of climbing - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29271921

Four Gaps 100 miles, 9000 ft of climbing - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26802225

Two Gaps 35 miles, 4000 ft of climbing - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29272059

The 6 Gaps of VT is an iconic New England Ride. To accomplish this we will leave the house very early (sunrise is around 5am and June 20 is the longest “day” of the year!) and drive an hour to where the loop is closest to the house. Coach P rode this route last year and his saddle time was 7 ½ hours!

For those that feel weak in the legs, there is a bail out at mile 70 to switch over to the four gaps route.

here are some great ride reports you should read!

    Lay Day Friday

I am planning on using Friday as a lay day. We can focus on doing an OWS in the lake(bring your wetsuits!) where one loop of the perimeter is about 2 miles. And of course, we have the lake toys (SUPs, Kayaks, etc), renting MTBs and going to the Killington MTB park., or just an easy ride on local dirt roads. We can also go check out Buttermilk Falls nearby, bring water shoes if you have!

    Ride 3 Saturday

Vermont Adaptive Charity RidePlease make sure you register (pay) by June 1. This ride is hosted by the Long Trail Brewery and offers distances of 40,60 & 100 miles. There is a “harder 100” route which is the intended ride. Everyone can of course opt to do their length of pain for the day. The harder 100 has 7200’ of climbing vs 4200 on the easier route. There is an awesome after party with two bands, food trucks & beer flowing at the Long Trail Brewery after the event. Plan on spending a great afternoon after the ride, we will bring lawn chairs & a blanket. Note that there is a $70 entry fee and a $120 fundraising commitment for the charity (donation if you choose). This gets you a free pass to the Killington MTB park or a free winter lift ticket. If we don’t go to the MTB Park on Friday, I will buy your lift tickets to use next winter at $75 per ticket.

    Ride 4 Sunday

Sunday morning ride of 31 or 45 miles depending on what the group is thinking / feeling & weather.

    45 - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/26802207

    31 - https://ridewithgps.com/routes/29522866

    @Andrew Lustigman @Al Truscott @Larry Peters @Daniel Ballin

there are also two non-EN people coming, likely that I get one other to drop in for a ride or two and @Coach Patrick has threatened to show up for a day or two.
