Do we know if she already shipped her bike out yet? I know she said they packed it.

    Thanks for the update

Nope.  The bikes were packed but had not shipped yet.  So we don't need to worry about those logistics.  Linda will be canceling the hotel and flight later today.

  • FYI, I'm one degree of association away from Bryan, the guy who originally notified the CPSC about the Trek issue. Please keep me posted on what bike Keith was riding so that I can pass along the info to Bryan - he's still pursuing the issue with Trek, etc.
  • I've done a quickie search of meal delivery and am only finding college delivery type places or diet-related. If anyone in Boston area has a recommendation, let us know. Thx

  • Wow, handlebars expolding that's crazy.  I wish a speedy recovery to Keith.

  • I tried searching for "new parent" meal delivery, because I know that that's a big business...but didn't come up with much.

    Ideas:
    Whole Foods delivers, supposedly
Carolina Cookie: http://www.carolinacookie.com/ I know a few people who have shipped these around the country - they're supposedly good and I have to imagine they'd be enjoyed by the Patch boys.
Harry & David for a gift basket
    Edible Arrangements
  • I work kinda local to the Patch's and will be more than willing to deliver burrito's to the kids if need be. Just need to tell me how they like their Chipotle image

I don't know of any good places that deliver around here but obviously I can do some running around for them if needed.

  • I'm close by too and don't start the new job until the 12th.  I'm more than happy to bring some food by if they need it.

  • Count me in as being close and willing to do whatever might be needed.  I've already reached out to Linda, but let me know if you guys do anything or need my help.

    Dave

  • If you guys want to do the meal thing, I can make that happen here locally. What are you thinking?
  •  Hey all!  Just weighing in but when I was going through cancer treatments the best "meal" by far I got was about three bags full of breakfast stuff.  Not much healthy but boxes of cereal, sausages, eggs, bacon, pop tarts, frozen pastries, milk, juice.   I got it the week I was in the hospital to get all my chemo and radiation set up and it was wonderful.  The kids LOVED it and it was so nice for people in and out of the house to help us to have "treats" to eat for breakfast.  My kids still talk about getting all that stuff.  Just a thought.  Let me know who we can send money to to chip in.  The other really nice thing I got was an envelope full of 5's and 1's.  It was great to just have an envelope in the glove box for parking at the hospital since I had to be there every day for radiation....nice too not have to dig out money or stop at the atm all the time.  The hospital I was being treated at had gift cards from the caf too so that the husband and family could go down and get something to snack on.  A couple of phone cards can be nice too.....I know every one has cell phones now but we weren't allowed to have them in the hospital.  A couple of times during the night it was nice to have a card to be able to call home when things got too scary.

OK...nuff...Just wanted to share the things that were really nice for us to have during a long ordeal with medical procedures.

  •  Getting to this so very late..Thank God for the helmet. I will keep the Patch's family in my thoughts and prayers over the next few weeks.

  • I really like the breakfast idea. What about Super Suppers/Dream Dinners? The only catch is that they are frozen and take a day to thaw then cook. Might be good for when they get home.

Patrick: What do you have available?

Silly question: where are they? Philly?

@Penny- Just outside Boston in Lexington.

@all the guys local- if your wife is a good cook, something that can be frozen and reheated- casserole. I am doing the lasagna today and tomorrow.

  • We have some meal places here I can check out, going to visit tomorrow and will get more info!
  • Linda and Keith,

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. Best wishes for a quick recovery.

  • Spoke with Linda briefly yesterday. At the time, Keith was in transport to Mass Gen. It took her the better part of Wed. to jump through the hoops to get him moved. She seems much more comfortable with him in that setting and rightly so. He as being admitted by the trauma service.

Keith is doing as well as expected. Linda said he looks like a prize fighter, but had been going over computer information with Taylor, so his head is good.

    She will keep us posted.

  • Gina: Thanks for the updates.

I seem to be thinking of them a lot. Good wishes always.

  •  just getting on now with this info on Keith. Wish him a speedy recovery.

  • Thanks for the update, Gina. Good healing thoughts going their way...
  • Going by this evening to drop off lasagna. I will leave a card for get well wishes. I will make it from the EN crew. I am not expecting that anyone will be home.
  • Thanks MIchele!!!
  • For those of you not on FB, we have another update from Linda. Keith is now home and they have scheduled facial reconstruction surgery for Wednesday. This is good news as it means neuro and neck are stable and gonna be OK. They were also able to get hooked up with a world renowned plastic surgeon who will be doing the surgery- so it sounds like things are moving in a very positive direction. Keep the good vibes coming!
  • thanks for the updates! definitely with everyone else- thinking about them alot these days.
  • Thank you for posting that update Nemo.
I stopped by the Patch home Friday night, dropped off cards and lasagna, and spent an hour and a half with Linda. I just did not have the time to get that update into EN.
Linda does want everyone to know that she is grateful for all of the calls, texts, PMs, etc.

Also- her words for future reference if you have this happen to a friend: Don't ask about making dinner, just do it. That has been the hardest thing to get done. After spending all day at the hospital, coming home to cook is too much.

So I am glad that I made the lasagna and took it over "without permission".
  • Thank you Nemo, Gina, and Michele for all the updates!
Wish I lived closer to them with the dinner detail.
Extra prayers and healing vibes for Wednesday as it's Keith's OR day...
  • The girls and I stopped by today to drop off some treats (some GOOD, some good for you) and say hi. I am amazed at how well they are both taking the situation. Keith looks remarkably good and Linda is doing very well. KP is cracking jokes and he's about to go in for some major surgery on Wednesday...think maybe peel the face back kind of stuff. Just crazy. Huge vibes to them and thanks to all of you for your support. Here are some pics of the bike...
