IMAZ back to Nov OS Transition

So one week ago I slogged it out through IMAZ to finish IM#8. Prior to doing it, Rich had suggested that I do this IM as a low-key thing and basically just do it on general fitness and focus on the Nov OS to get ready for next spring. Mission accomplished. So I am now one week past IMAZ and ready to merge back onto the highway of Nov OS. How should I do this? I have read the post IM Transition ebook (and followed this after IMLP back in July), but unlike IMLP, I did not build my training to the same level of duration or intensity pre-race.  In essence this was more like a single epic day inserted into the preseason and Nov OS for me. How quickly can I get back to it?

For my part, I am feeling pretty good. Still a little sore in the right hip particularly but this is fading quickly.

  • Kevin, I'm with you on this one. The long swim and bike really do not take a lot out of me. It is the 26.2 miles of running that sucks the life out of my mind and body usually. With IMAZ, I ended up not doing a whole lot of running after mile 3 because I developed a blister the size of Manhattan on the entire ball of my left foot. This really sucked because my legs felt so good coming off the bike. Since I did more walking than running, I am curious if I should still follow the suggested post IM recovery. I am so anxious to get back at it and really hate the idea of losing ANY fitness I have gained.

  • Guys, you might want to post a question like this in the General Training questions forum, since the coaches don't actively monitor the OS Groups as frequently.
