  • More info from the wattage group:

    Announcing Version 3.0 of WKO+ software!

    I am proud to present to the wattage list  version 3.0!  Each time we go through this process, the users of the wattage forum are the ones that I focus my efforts on.   When we introduced CyclingPeaks(now WKO+) back in August 2003,  we made this software for you- the participants in the wattage forum and when we made 2.2, it was the same and now 3.0 is made for you too.  Dr. Andrew R. Coggan again has played a large role in helping us to define features and keeping the program based in solid science.  Lots of people are involved in this project now and its gotten bigger each year with our support team, marketing team and developers, and each has played a vital role in this release. We hope you like it.

    We have a new updated “look and feel”, along with some pretty cool new features.  Of course there are still more features on our list to add, and will continue to do so, and I hope you enjoy these too.

    -Quadrant Analysis for your workout view – no more “Excel macro two-step”

    -Scatter Graphs – Change the data ‘channels’ in your X and Y axes.

    -Multi-file/range Analysis(MFRA) – for the overlaying of ranges of data(intervals or whole workouts on top of each other)

    -Multi-File Quadrant Analysis- Compare your workouts to each other in the Quadrant Analysis graph.

    -Multi-File Scatter Graph- Analyze you race/ride and compare it to other races and rides as well.

    -Updated Power Profiling with the latest data from the good Doctor Coggan and the option to view your FT column for 95% of your 20minute power!

    -Coaches-Download your clients data directly from their TrainingPeaks accounts into WKO+ now! So much easier!

    -Manage an Unlimited number of Athletes in WKO+ 3.0.

    -Improved Licensing policy- Now you get a license for two computers.

    -De-activate and Re-Activate your License between machines.

    -Improved NP/IF/TSS calculations for Garmin smart-recorded files

    -Improved handling of stops and gaps in NP/IF/TSS calculations

    And a host of added features to help you continue on your quest to become a stronger, faster athlete.

    It’s an easy upgrade process from 2.2 to version 3.0 and you can do that right here. Install 3.0 side by side with 2.2.

    Free trials of WKO+ 3.0 are available at www.TrainingPeaks.com/WKO where the software is available for $129. Remember….that’s for 2(!) licenses.

    Owners of WKO+ version 2.x can upgrade for $64.50.

    We also made a quick youtube video about the new features.

    Lastly, I will be teaching (4)  FREE webinars on how to use Version 3.0  next week.

    Sign up for them now on this page.

    (yes, we will record them and have them available later for download!)

  •  I downloaded the trial version.  It said that it was free for 2 weeks and that you can run them side by side.  When I opened it seemed interesting.  I ran the migration thing so that I could look at my data and now it says that the trial period has ended.  Kinda sucks.

    The fact that they use DOS style black text boxes for the migration tool strikes me as archaic.  I imagine that the 310/garmin issue is solved which is cool.  Someone is gonna have to explain the scatter graph thing to me.  Guess I need to buy it...

  • I like the 20 mins @ 95% FTP! Only suffer once :-)
  •  "  -Improved NP/IF/TSS calculations for Garmin smart-recorded files "

    And there was much rejoicing among 310XT owners everywhere!!!!!  YEAH!!!

  • Guess we need to pay for the upgrade?  Pricing?  EN discount?

    Nemo, you test and let us know how it works with the 310XT.    I am sticking with my little yellow PT computer and current WKO+ until I hear the 310XT works in the new WKO+.  Not spending any more time or shelling out any $$ until I know it works.  You are my guinea pig.

    John

  • I've asked Hunter for prices, etc, said he'll get back to me later today. Thanks.
  •  Hey Rich

    I had an idea for a wiki entry about bleeding edge types of technologies vs. older proven stuff and your thoughts on it.

    I will help, Nemo.

  • I must be doing something insanely wrong because my 310xt files look WORSE in the 3.0 version. In v2.2 I was seeing gaps of up to 10 seconds in HR and Alt. Now I only see a total of 10 seconds of HR in an hour-long workout.
  •  Probably too much to ask that there would be a Mac version.

  • According to the Wattage Group - no Mac version yet and it seems that the transition is a "little bumpy" to say the least for some folks. I think I am going to wait a bit on the upgrade - epsecially since I am still trying to figure utilizing this version to the fullest and I don't have a 310xt.
  • I sort of had to chuckle at this from the 3.0 readme:

    ----

    Device Agent 3.0 (Build 12) DOES NOT currently support these devices:

       * Garmin Forerunner/Edge 205/305

       * SRM PC V

       * Ergomo

       * Polar (direct download)

    ----

    Two steps forward, one step back! image  I'm sure they'll get it sorted out soon enough...
  • Yeah- did ya notice the Joule isn't listed anywhere either? Hmmmmmmm.
  • I'm tickled pink since I just bought the "old" version of WKO+ less than a month ago and they want to charge me another $70 to upgrade to this version... I would have waited had I known this update was on the horizon!

    They should cut a deal for people who purchased 2.0 within the last 30-60 days. Other vendors do that type of thing.

  • I have my pricing from Hunter, need to confirm a couple things, and will be able to offer the Team a deal, per usual.

    Also, the details of any such deal involving WKO+ and EN need to stay very strictly on the DL. Thanks.
  •  @ Tom, sorry I wouldn't have talked you into it had I known 3.0 was on the horizon.

    I'm <30 days out from my WKO+ 2.x purchase as well. I might hold of on the 3.0 upgrad if Training Peaks doesn't offer a fair grace period.</p>

  • It looks like 3.0 does not support direct download from 305s at this time unless I'm mistaken. I'd hold off on purchase until this is clarified by Cycling Peaks if you are a 305 user of WKO 2.2 which downloads 305 flawlessly.

    If someone has been able to do the direct download in 3.0 please let me know how.

    Thanks

    John

  • Y'all may know this already, but I received this e-mail tonight:

    Upgrade today for half price at only $64.50

    Visit www.TrainingPeaks.com/WKO to see what's new in WKO+ v.3.0

    ***********************************************************************************

    Looks like it is the normal upgrade price?  Nothing special.  Maybe Rich will have something better?
  • Just purchased the upgrade. Not much of a chance to play with it yet. The "look and feel" of the program seems pretty good. The migration from 2.2 appeared to be seamless, although I haven't compared numbers. More analytical graphs to figure out how to go faster. Maybe I should just pedal more image

  • Folks - I don't think there is any deal. Rich explored this with Hunter, but it looks like they are offering the lowest possible price to all of their currect customers to get them to migrate; ain't none better than what you see there, even for bulk. Merry Christmas, spend more money (and hopefully) it works for you! image

  • @Tom- I just activated mine on Monday. Yeah. great timing. So I emailed them and said what the heck! I got an email back saying that since i was inside 30 days that I could go ahead and buy the new version for full price, then email the support person back and they would refund me $99. So, basically you only have to pay the $30 difference between the 2 versions.

    So, its worth emailing them if you have recently activated it.

  • I purchased my version 8 days before the 3.0 release, and they refused to accomodate me at all on the upgrade. Demanded $65. Arrgh. I posted something on the wattage group about this, and everyone called me a whiner. Oh well.

    That sucks.  Frankly- I thought the next 3.0 version was still a long ways away- maybe I missed a memo.  I would have been in your same shoes- and probably pretty irritated they didn't at leaste say "wait a few days- 3.0 is coming".   I guess the positive way to look at this is that they are now allowing you to load the software on 2 PCs- so you get an extra license you didn't have before out of the upgrade.

    Hard to say what's fair to both the company and customers. I think 8 days is completely reasonable and should probably extend out to 30 days (which would cover me) for some sort of accommodation. In the end there are always going to be customers at X number of days +1 or more that are going to excluded and be upset.

    Training Peaks should come up with a formal policy and stick with it. Two EN people have now gotten different stories.

  • Just want to remind everyone that 2.2 is still good, has been good for a while, and if you're happy with it I don't think you "need" to upgrade, at least not right away? People are reporting problems and issues on the wattage forum so I think I would at least wait for the dust to settle first.

  • My problem is that I've got a Computrainer and a 310XT. I need the new version for the 310XT. They've been promising that 3.0 would fix the 310XT imcompatability for several months, but never gave an indication of when it would be released. I bought the 310XT in mid-October (without any software to use it with), and finally broke down and bought 2.2 to use with the CT, only to have the new upgrade come out 8 days later. If I had known that 3.0 was coming so soon, I would have waited, but for all I knew, it could have been many more months. I'm certainly willing to pay the $20 difference in cost between 2.2 and 3.0, but $65 for an upgrade for an 8-day old product (that I hadn't even gotten around to using) just annoys me.
  • FWIW- I'm looking forward to attending one of their webinars next week to hear/see a little more about how this is all supposed to work. I've just downloaded my first ride into WKO 3.0 and 2.2 from the LYC and the intervals that appear in 2.2 somehow have been "lost" in 3.0.

    Oh- and I haven't been able to figure out how to download from the 310XT using the Device Agent directly yet- it seems like you still have to download to GTC first? I dunno- but I don't have the time right now to fuss with it.

    Nemo - you do not need to use GTC to get at your 310xt files (after they've downloaded via the stick sync).

    See my post here on how to avoid using GTC and get directly at the 310xt history file sitting right on your machine.
