  • Sounds like a plan. I'm thinking at the worst, this week will drive me to ice baths and to finally buy a pair of compression tights.
  •  Alright gang, I feel I owe you all an explanation of my absence as of late.  Pretty pathetic when you have a thread named after you and I'm not participating!!!  I feel bad, but I'm happy at least you guys are getting something out of it.  Right now my wife has been putting in a lot of time at work which means more time for me at home.  Such is life, but by the time it comes for me to be free, I'm beat.  I never thought 3 kids would kill me more than a brick workout!  I just wanted to apologize to you all pulling for me to my act together and I've let you down!  Right now I'm trying to endure parenthood, doing my job well, and brainstorming to get some time back to get some workouts in.  I've been grinding for about 3 years now with races, and my mind and body has been telling me to chill.  I'm enjoying the time with the kids now, especially since 2 of them are really into snow sports and able to do a lot more this year than last.  Anyway, I'm not feeling sorry for myself, but I do need to get back into gear.  I'm sure you all understand as you are the best training partners I've ever had.  I'm checking in here and there, but haven't had the focus to add anything productive.  Keep crushing it gang, I'll be back!  I think it might get warmer here in upstate NY soon.... that will certainly help!

  • @Dan - At least you have your priorities straight.  Tri's and workout will always be here.  Don't be afraid to post, "got a 20 min run in"

I know I was off the grid for a while and I don't have 3 kids.  Just get in what you can when you can.

    Gordon

  • @Dan - Nice to see you here! Join us soon! But, yeah, keep enjoying those kids.

15/16 15/60 at EP at lunch yesterday. I'm hoping to get in my 5x1 miler (T) at lunch, but have to press announcement then, too. Cross your fingers and hope I can get away with a three-hour lunch today!

  •  @Dan, you did not let us down. Family and real life always come first. As a father who is not at home half a year due to job, enjoy it my friend as much you can. It is never enough. Soon, they will grow, college......you know. Don't be like me: where have I been for my kids.

Raising children is a very exhausting job that consistently fails to receive proper recognition. It is a very physically and emotionally intense activity. All parents know that. I totally understand how you feel.

No one here passes any judgement at all. This is as close as you get to unconditional support. Enjoy your children and do the best you can. We are so fortunate to have you here. Whenever you have time, you drop a word or two and we are happy. Keep us in the loop.

    Love all of your enthusiasm.

  • @Dan - Don't worry about today's run. I the fourth and fifth mile intervals today for you. (8 miles total.)

Both were into a 10-18 mph headwind. The fourth one was behind McCormick place and Soldier Field and included running up a set of steps. The fifth one involved line driving mental toughness until the turnaround to get out of the wind. Both done at 7:56 - slight adjustment from 7:44 to account for wind. Thanks for the mental encouragement! This workout was a tough one!

Now I am beginning to understand the true hurt of being a middle distance runner. And a kinda want to do this workout again soon.

How's everyone else? Where's Mr. Stark? Mike, are you recovering?

  •  Quick check-in.

Still in SoCal with mom in hospital.  Been here everyday, all day since Monday.  Ass hurts from sitting in chair.  Serious.  Didn't run Monday but ran Tuesday for 5 miles @Z3 and yesterday for 3 @Z3.  Hope to get out and run 3+ again today.  Just getting out, hitting it and then getting back to hospital.

Not sure where I am with run days but I have only missed one since all this started

    More later.

@Dan, glad to see you posted.  Balance, baby!

  • Sorry for dropping off the map, I'm traveling on business. I did get my first run in since the race yesterday (Thursday), a 30 minute session with some VO2 work. Felt good to actually get some speed in. Today is a TRX session, and hopefully I can find a bit of time for some Z1 work later in the day. Gotta keep the calories burned up with the amount of drinking I seem to be doing on this trip!
  •  I am back in the Haus.

Do we need a March run thread?  Or has this run its course?

  • I vote for March thread! I'm stilling running. We can see if Daniels 5-15k planned hacked into the OS will kill a girl. (Not yet.)

  •  Anything works for me. Been running, just no chance to post. All my 200s/400s in OS are R-pace, what does not kill me, will make me stronger. Cannot resist it, love running fast.

Today AM 3000 SCM swim, PM 5mi@ avg. 7:39 pace. Tomorrow OS work +5mi E-pace again.

    @Beth, keep it up.

@John, glad to have you back.
