@Michael, that is awesome. We do need a team dinner spot if you have any suggestions. I would assume for at least 50+ people. If you have suggestions that is great.
I always eat at Tomato Street when I do a race in CDA, so that would be my first suggestion. BUT, it is a ZOO at that time and we usually don't even try and actually sit down (we get it to go and eat at the hotel). I can give them a call and see if its even possible to accomodate a party of that size during IM weekend, and then go from there. Friday night?
@ Stephen, Mike Reilly may or may not be at the race. There was a different announcer at IMFL last year. I can't remember his name but I've seen the guy at Boise 70.3 and Lake Stevens 70.3. Apparently it was his first full IM to announce at and I'm not sure if it was because Mike was sick or because Mike's starting to do less races. But Mike was at IMCDA last year.
I am on Beluga and trying it with the group for Oceanside 70.3 this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. Please add me to our group: stephaniestevens@earthlink.net.
I'm in somewhat of a taper mode for the HIM this weekend. Lovin' it!!
Thanks for picking up the ball! I have loonngg history at IMCDA, having done the race 3x and been up there for MANY races. Vanilla Bourbon Stout at the CDA brewery....
@Rich, not a problem. Should be good fun and keep me on point. I'm sure I will have many of those beers. Will even buy you a few since my rules clearly state I don't pay for my own beers, nothing about buying you some.
FYI, you don't have to be a Facebook member to use Beluga. I am Facebook free, but was able to be added to the EN Ocfeanside 70.3 pod as well as register my iPad app when John Stark added me to that pod once I gave him my email.
I got the Beluga invite and can see the conversation on the web but how does the iPhone app work? It asks for me email address (which I know) and my password (which I don't -> and don't even remember forgetting it).
Being brilliant I ask to reset my password and give it my email and it smacks me down with "no such email!"
Why is dinner on Friday, the same night as the event pre-race dinner and race meeting? Folks doing their first IM should not miss that gala get-together, it's a part of the overall experience.
In regards to the team dinner, EN typically has the team dinner the same night as the athlete dinner. Over the years it has just worked out that way for a number of reasons and the coaches give TeamEN members the choice to attend the team dinner and/or the IM dinner.
With that said, the EN dinner runs from 5:00 PM to usually 6:00 PM. The IM athlete dinner runs from 5:30 to 7:30 and at 7:30 is the mandatory athlete meeting. So there is a bit of overlap, but not much is missed in regards to the IM festivities. Other than the long lines to get food, etc. :-)

@John...whats the link to that Facebook site you created?
Hey Stephen:
In short -
A high-level, TeamEN race week communications page for those folks who have Facebook. This will work in conjunction with the EN forums (adding to and not take away from the Forums) during race week, on race day, etc.
In a bit more detail -
For IM CdA:
Beluga will be specifically for you folks with boots on the ground. Your own CdA team (and family) private chat room, if you will. No lurkers or outside folks. Just the racers (family) and the coaches.
Then with the Work Works FB page, you go up to a more global view and anyone at CdA who wants to update TeamEN with pics, updates, etc. can do so on the "TeamEN Race Week Group" on the Work Works FB page. The Group will be opened up to you guys and gals a week or two before the race.
For IM Texas:
No Beluga. They are only using the FB "TeamEN Race Week Group." Trying to see if the "TeamEN Race Week Group" FB page alone will work.
With the help of CdA folks like Tucker, Peter, Greg V., as well as John P. (RC for IMTX), Tom Glynn and others, we are testing all this for the first couple of races and will circle back after IM CdA to see what works, what didn't, etc. and make any adjustments, if need.
Hope this makes sense. Any further questions or comments can be made in the RD group here: http://bit.ly/gSdt1V
Sorry, I missed one key point here: the smartphone.
If you have the FB app you can upload a pic, give updates, etc. very simply in real-time to the FB TeamEN Group vs. the imposibility of doing so directly to an EN Forum page via a smartphone.
This isn't a perfect solution and not everyone has Facebook. But we are trying new ways to communicate with what is on the market now. Thanks for working with us.
Again, any ideas, comments, feedback, praise can all be made here: http://bit.ly/gSdt1V

Got it...but, what is the Facebook site. It is different than the regular EN Facebook page, right?
DOH! Too much caffeine today and I guess and didn;t answer your question.
Ya, it is separate/different from the RandP Endurance Nation FB site that is their company marketing site. The one I described and in my sig line, Work Works, is for TeamEN folks only.
Sorry for any confusion. Still trying to wrap my head around all this stuff.

And to answer the guest question . . . yes, guests are allowed. And yes, they have to buy the Race Captain beers also.
