  • Doode,

Today is May 25th. I was out of town for EN events for about 17 of those 25 days. If someone else wants to hook up a group buy, go for it. I don't have the bandwidth for it, sorry.

  • what have you been doing for those 8 days image
  • OK, good thread here.  Lotsa good chat.

As I am not the sharpest tool in the shed with this stuff and there are so many of you who are, I have a question on the PDF Hayes posted:  http://www.biketechreview.com/tires...g_rev9.pdf

The tire I use regularly is #15 on page 1 of the list.  Michelin Pro 3 Light SC (23).  I love them and I have ridden each set I have ever owned over the years until they were done.  I mean done!

Can somone look at the chart and tell me the amount of time I would save over an IM distance if I jump on the group buy and get the Vittorias?

Also, I can buy a set of the Michelin's for $75 on eBay.  Bought several sets from the same guy.  Looks like the Vittoria's are a minimum of $100 for the set as it stands now.

    Thanks.

    John

  • Btw I just got some Bontrager R4 Aeros for my front wheels. Got them from the Trek store on line, they are in stock. They arrived in 2 days (Wisconsin to Chicago = FAST). I'm looking forward to trying them out on my first Race Rehersal soon!
  •  Hayes.....Thanks for the pdf on tire selection.  I am a newbie and this is a big help.  Any suggestions on where to start researching tire pressure?  I always just pump up to around 120.  I am 5'10",  175lbs.

  • Shawn, I would check with the tire manufacturer for tire pressure. Zipp has a detailed chart by tire, event, and weight. They alsy have adjustments for wider vs narrow rims and weather/road conditions. I once saw the same for vittoria.

FWIW, after a detailed discussion with Zipp, I run 108 to 112 PSI depending on road conditions. Lower if wet or really rough roads. I'm 135lbs so your 120 is probably pretty good.
  • The Vittoria tire pressure chart can be found here:
