Do people actually get changed in the changing tents?

  • I don't know why you would want to do this. If you want more padding, ride with more padding. No question, two layers = higher risk of rubbing yourself raw.

  •  Also, bike shorts are not designed to have anything worn underneath them.

  • All good and valid feedback...really appreciate it......I've done  multiple HIM in Tri gear..no problems.....just wondered if there might be some benefit to a "real" bike short on the longer ride...I don't think it would be a chaffing issue at all...only the tri short would come in contact with skin....this was really just a an additional padding/comfort idea......and without having to do a full change....for long rides in practice I luv my bibs.....but I think  good tri shorts are fine as-is..

  • Did all my long rides pre IMLP in tri shorts only. I've found them and the Adamo Road saddle to be as comfortable or even more so than bike shorts. Raced IMLP in the same EN tri kit from swim all the way through run. First race ever with no chaffing! I usually chafe some on a half. The new kit is really good stuff!!

  • x2 on the good kit. Same as Dave: IMLP with EN tri kit > swim to finish = no chaffing at all.
  • Adamo saddle was the other item I was going to look into....is there a thread on saddles?

  • X3 on new EN tri kit entire 14:48 of Placid, and Adamo breakaway saddle. I peed on the bike constantly over my 7:30 bike leg, and no chafing. I still am convinced that at 200 lbs any saddle after 112 miles of aero is going to have some cleaver/nut-crunching effect, but thats also probably due to my inexperience in the saddle.
