Open marathon to IM marathon: bridging the gap

  • My two cents on " Bridging the Gap " is the heat. The heat is internal that is . External heat will bury you/me for sure and if its cold/cool out the internal heat will bury you also.

As I run , I'm 54 BTW, I commit to keeping a low HR rate cause ugly is like a freight train heading for me with a constant bearing decreasing range. I commit to my training intervals and hit them at times and I find it depends on the heat, internal/external.

I feel ok at 125 /135 , I hold 145/150 I see the train a coming by 150 ish plus for an extended period of time it gets ugly. I have ALWAYS messed up a marathon and am learning better execution. That has helped me keep the heat manageable.

As Mike suggested and I'm going to incorporate throwing a additional run into the mix decreasing ??? something cause I don't have time to fit it all in but that is what self coaching is all about.

Keep throwing Sh## against the wall something will stick....
  • There are many great thoughts and ideas here.  I need to compile them all and pick out some things to try during the OS and next year.  I have already started some things with my remaining training time before Austin 70.3.  The wheels are in motion...
