  • Sheesh, just tried again and it gave all of his splits.
  • I know Kevin - I've been trying to refresh and refresh - have his first run splits, but I have a feeling he's further along! Go Coach P -

I agree Matt the Universal coverage is great - I love that one announcer gets all choked up!

Can't wait for the women's finish!!
  • My video link is down...aargh...looks like a real race for the women's title. Go TEAM!
  • Video back up and P's splits also more up to date. Looks like CW is going to win it. What a race!
  • Looks like Greg C is running a great race too. Splits show he dropped the hammer after the first split...8:17 for the first 5, 7:33 for the next 5...keep rolling gang!
  • why aren't there any run splits in the EN race tracker?

I keep refreshing the ironmanlive tracker, but don't see any splits for P. What's the latest anybody has?
  • Seems like a tough last 7 miles for Coach P 9:11 average pace

  • Coach P:
    5 mi 5 mi 39:16 6:55:08 7:51/mi
    10.2 mi 5.2 mi 39:24 7:34:32 7:34/mi
    17.2 mi 7 mi 1:04:22 8:38:54 9:11/mi
  • thanks, Scott!
  • I have a feeling the race tracker is inaacurate for the final two sets of run splits. The timing mat is at the turnaround in the Energy lab, which is closer to 18 miles than it is to the listed 17.2 miles. Take at look at the splits for bib #1, for example (Crowie). You'll see his final two pace numbers are not reflective of what he probably really did - that last split would include the uphill out of the energy lab and the final uphill miles along Queen K, as well as his stopping several times with cramps - no way he ran 6:10 miles for that segment, nor did he run 6:41 DOWNHILL toward the E lab, and than DOWN into the lab.

Just pointing out that Coach P's (and Greg's, and everyone else's) pace for the third segment is very likely a bit slower than what they are actually doing.

    Coach P:

    17.2 mi 7 mi 1:04:22 8:38:54 9:11/mi

    Uh oh...

  • Hopefully, we'll see Coach crossing between 9:45-10:00

  • Me thinks Coach P is feelin' that 5:01 bike split!
  • P Just CROSSED! 9:54!!!

  •

Coach P just finished under 10 with the En gang sign

  • coach P just finished!
  • Greg C Lookin' happy @ 10:05

  • Coach P leading from the fron!

  • Just a shout out to a few other finishers  Greg C 10:03 and Tom Glynn 11:06.  Joe M is almost in now according to Myathlete tracker.  Keith B after the strike and all is closing in on the finish as well.  Leibs is at the turn around in the Energy Lab finish it up. It's getting late and I'm not sure I will check in again.

  • Joe just finished in 12:3X...38 or so.

  • I just saw Liebs cross at 14:2X looking strong and enjoying the finish line.  Great Job.

  • Hi All:

Sorry about the race tracker.  I will follow-up with our guy who builds it and see if it was an IronmanLive feed issue or his.

Quick question:  Did any of you use Jonathan, Keith or Joe's Track My Athlete link on the Race Tracker to follow them during the day?  Did you find it useful?  Any pros or cons to it?  Anything you would add/change to that service?

The reason I ask is I am considering adding this to the EN bag of tricks for next season and having a call with the owner of the company next week.  Just wanna know if it helped at all during race day.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

    Thanks.

    John

  • I thought the links to the tracker were a great addition. As for the tracker itself I used it at Lake Placid this year and liked it. It uses GPS to locate you and the cell phone network to transmit your location back to the website. In Lake Placid parts of the bike course are out of cell phone coverage, so at times it would not work. At other times the cell phone network became overloaded and people had trouble getting the website to update on iPhones. That said, it was still great to use and I plan on using it again. For the most part people could see what I was doing, and more importantly see when I was coming into town. Yesterday watching the 3 EN people go around the course on the online map was very cool.
  • I followed them on the bike quite a bit. Would love to have a hook-up with EN for next year and would definitely use this service at IMLP (and Lonestar, Mooseman, and Austin 70.3 if I pull the trigger on those races as well). I know my wife would love it for races where I am out of town and she can't watch. The tracker was delayed/dead when I did IMAZ and she still tells me she had visions of me bleeding to death in a ditch on the other side of the country.
  • Yes the My Athlete links were very usefull!
  • Agreed, liked it!
  • John,

I think it's a great service.  I followed Coach R at IMWI and the link here took you to the MyAthlete page and I just clicked on all three EN athletes and could see exactly where they were.

The only down side was that it kept me up later as I knew exactly when the finishers were comimg in .

  • I've used the device and I like it. I've already reserved mine for IMAZ and IMCDA. It was great being able to click on the race tracker and go to the website tracking them as well. My only problem was that when you went there, and tracked an athlete, there was some cool info on the left side of the screen showing current speed, elapsed time, etc. as well as a breakdown of swim, bike, and run. Only problem was that bike and run were too low and there was no way to scroll down through the info to see it. Not sure if it was me, my computer, or what, but it would have been cool to watch that stuff as well as the blip on the map.
