I'm going to be the mayor of Stick City! Damn Christmas cheesecake, egg nog and cabernet.. my mid section looks like Santa Claus....I'm going to have to 'double down' in January.
I failed. I ran yesterday for 3 miles, as the weather seemed better for getting outside than that projected today, and it would allow me to better get on an every-other-day running schedule. I'll have to wait and see if the carrot or stick applies - my risk./reward are delayed, not immediate.
Actually, that last week between Xmas and New Years did me in. Not the sweets but the prime ribs and turkeys and hams. I scoop the leftovers up for work which means I was eating big heavy calories even if portions looked reasonable on the plate. I'm pretty confident that this lack of discretion cost me my goal.

I fell 4 pounds short... I was considering cheating the system and going through some old high school wrestling drills to drop 4 quick pounds of water "Vision Quest" style. I will double down and drop soume pounds before end January. I have a 400 mile bike tour of Puerto Rico at the end of January which should help some #'s melt off.
@ Rich - funny, I was considering Vision Quest last Friday and Saturday, too. 400 miles in Puerto Rico, eh? Think you'll hit that goal if you don't sabotage it with the great food down there.
I never posted my results from December. My goal was to lose 10 lbs. Didn't make it but I did lose 8.6. If it wasn't for Christmas parties and cookies I think I would have made it. My stick was to not have pizza for the month of January. I was bad and didn't follow through with the stick. I moved to a new apartment on 1/2 and as payment to my buddies who helped me move I bought pizza and wings. I had a couple slices. I'm sorry for cheating team. I haven't had any pizza since then and won't have any the rest of the month.
My goal for this month is to do some core work, basically get down on the floor and do some crunches at least 3x a week this month. I can't really think of a carrot or a stick. If anyone has any suggestions for those items let me know!
@Doug...it's not the end result but trying that matters!!! I say your stick for not getting the core work done is a 10' hell session of crunches until you die. The carrot? Maybe a new video for your trainer?
Coach, it looks like i'm gonna be doing a 10' hell session (tenatively scheduled for Super Bowl Sunday). I think I did core work 3 times this whole month, ha ha. The good thing is that I've hit all my scheduled workouts for the month of January without driving myself into a wall.
Goal for February: core work 3X a week (I'm really gonna do it this time.) Carrot: new video for the trainer Stick: Extra bike workout somewhere consisting of FTP and VO2 intervals. If someone has a suggestion for a monster workout let me know. I may do this even if I meet my goal!
