Jay - you may be on to something. The late, great (and greatly missed) Chris G had a saying/strategy he was fond of: "3 for a PB"
Not sure if he helped coined it or just liked using it (I suspect the former), but the idea was that he (and a few others) seemed to do remarkably well in races if they consumed 3 pints the night before.
My hunch is he just made it up because he really liked to drink beer and socialize, but I can't be sure - not without further scientific study that is.
If it was good enough for Chris G., then it is clearly good enough for me. I don't know, nor do I really care, about the science behind it. Just having someone tell me that 3 pints is my target workout the day before a race is all I needed to hear!
Okay, just dug this up again. My rest for the three days is just that. Rest. Hardest part about it is not eating so much as I want to die. But other than that, I just chill. A light spin or short swim on that Tuesday if I am concerned about being tight...otherwise it's sleeping in, stretching / yoga / final pre-race shopping,etc.
