I don't mind admitting that I've been lurking the Lavender Room for a while. Much more entertaining than the Triathlon Forum. I'm a much happier and balanced person since I stopped posting anything in there.

Just FYI: they announced at the athletes dinner that WTC and CDA signed another five year agreement. An IM dumps a ton of money into the local economy in additions to the grants to local community organizations from the Ironman Foundation. Cities, the businesses, and community groups would be foolish to give this up.
Well, I got my room at the resort, Riley is all excited for a Strauss Family Road Trip and to swim in the lake with any who'll have him. But we are negotiating his compensation for wearing an EN singlet and his Magic Booties all weekend. He drives a hard bargain but I've gotten him down to continued runs and feedings
But I haven't registered yet. I guess I need to get around to that. Maybe I'll get hammered tonight on Two Buck Chuck and getterdone
Ok, this is only slightly related and maybe even in the wrong place, but what do people do for lodging?? Do most of you guys just get ordinary hotel rooms? I know that with all the training that goes into the race some people might be a bit hesitant to eat out for an entire week before an ironman and opt for a place with some form of kitchen. I am one of those people. But CDA is a pretty high end place. Am on the hunt for suggestions of reasonably prices places to stay... Thanks!!
@Julia, for IMCDA, the hotels downtown are EXPENSIVE. There's some smaller less expensive hotels the farther you get out from the resort.
However, CDA is great for rental houses. Try VRBO.com, or airbnb.com (I believe that's it). Two years in a row, I had a rental house within walking distance, that held ALL my friends/family, had a kitchen, and was right on the course.
One of my IMWI campers had great things to say about the service at the Holiday Inn Express -- breakfast and dinner included, bike cleaning station, etc.
After staying in the host hotel for IMWI, Joanne has demanded we do the same for CDA so I'm staying at the resort in a pet friendly room. We will road trip with EN Mascot Riley the Wonder Pup, who will wear his EN singlet all weekend and work his mojo on the womens
Looks like IMCDA is getting close to sold out (90 entries left per Ironman's Facebook page). So if anyone is on the fence, they better get on that before it's too late!

Scott & Rich,
Thank you so much for this info! Exactly what I was after. I am hoping they are not all hopelessly booked already.
Just registered last night!
LOL. Whew, that was a close one Rich! I did that with oceanside last year, but I waited an hour too long.
