  • Wooooooooooooooops.

    My bad, Al.
  • no problem; I'll just send my baddest Young Turk - Matt Goss - over to lay a whupping on Fred V. Considering the overlap in our squads, that's my only hope.

I was coin tossing among S Sanchez, Nibali, and Menchov. The silent assassin won the first round, but for some reason, I ended up with Sammy on my team. Then T Martin goes and rides over some glass ...? There goes our first round win and a week in yellow

  • It would have been close but my man FC is in yellow for a few days now ;-)
  • I had Thor last year who kept yellow for the first week or so. Lots of points but then these huge humps started popping up in the road and the guys all had to ride over them.

    T. Martin is not finished scoring points. I hope. Menchov looks on his game and I sacrificed Goss, hoping Oscar will score some points. the other guy who I discarded to get Wiggo (I'll rip his goofy sideburns off if he doesn't win this thing) is Rien Taaramea. Crazy strong young guy on Cofidis who could cause a ruckus.
  • And Fred Velo would love to see JV get in a break and win a stage in his last? TdF.
    Same with George H.
  • OK- I take it back, the podium hostess dresses have taken a serious downturn. What happened? Did the KOM ladies loose a bet overnight?
  • And why were all the guys reluctant to shake Eddy Merckx' hand on the podium ... ?

And why were all the guys reluctant to shake Eddy Merckx' hand on the podium ... ?

I noticed that yesterday too. Is there some controverary that we're not aware of?

  • I haven't watched the podium presentations so can't comment on the hotness of podium girls (feel free to post pics to this thread ) or Mercxx. But what's a tour without drama?

  • It must be scary to be next to a demi-god named "The Cannibal". I don't think there's a similar person in triathlon; Mark Allen comes closest in performance, but his personality is a bit more ... mellow.

  • Anyone else think Todd Gogulski needs to get a personality? I just fall alseep when they start talking to him. He seems to know his stuff, but ugh, with his voice and personality, he should be commentating on a golf match.
  • "GoGo" needs to go-go! I used to watch him on Universal Sports before the cable companies dropped that channel. Can't stand him! Stick to Paul, Phil and Bobke, maybe with some ventura thrown in.

We NEED Jens! And maybe Chris Horner, when he retires too. Both are greatness to listen to!
  • Wow, just checked up on my boys ( Kant Ride) and was stunned to see I am not dead last! Got to be pure luck 'casue I dont know jack about the pro tour.... Haven't had a chance to see any of TdF yet either.... to much else to do than star at the tube.

So what's the chance that I stay above the MOP as the Tour starts to take it's toll?
  • @ Steve - Fantasy teams are a crap shoot - who gets injured, etc. You're riding high now with Sagan and Cancallera; if Tony Martin hadn't flatded in the prologue, it might be s different story. The problem I see with your team is, apart from F Schleck and Van Den Broeck, you've got no one for the mountains or overall (general classification). We will reel you in over the third week, unless God provides a miracle to Schleck's TT ability or Hesjedal's stamina after the Giro.

PS - all I care about is beating Fred Velo and Nemo! I toyed with the idea of just picking all nine guys from Sky, but that seemed cheesy, somehow.

  • Wow, I'm honored to be considered the competition Al! It really can be quite a crap shoot- one minute you are on top of the world and then BAM/KAPOW/CRASH, half your squad has abandoned. Sometimes just getting 9 riders to Paris is all it takes!

  • Fred Velo is hurting.
Martin and LL Sanchez hurt. Oscar having drinks with the podium girls I guess.
    B Hagan is crushing it.
But the hills await and still lots of racing to do. Climbers have had a pretty smooth ride thus far.
Ryder looking good as is Frank Schleck and (cue the Jaws theme...) Menchov.
  • Just watched my first podium presentations. The KOM Girls continue to get shortchanged. What's with the Minny Mouse bow in their hair?

  • Seeee!!! You should have seen what they wore during Stage 2, those girls were shafted. By the way- I think the KOM podium hotesses are a new batch. Perhaps they had to get new talent when they crossed from Belgium into France?
  • Pix from the TdF ... 1909-1973 ; quote from one: "...Anquetil spent the rest day at a lamb barbecue and was initially unable to keep up with his competitors during the next day’s stage. Anquetil’s team director, however, gave him a bottle of champagne to help with his indigestion, and he caught back up to the other racers."

  • You can tell we are all a little bored with the first week of sprint stages when we get a little excited about seeing a few skinny armed dudes go at it. Bring on the mountains!!!! (besides, my fantasy team is starting to suck wind and I need some hills to get points back)
  • Tyler looked like a massive badass right until is he said the words "tell him he is not me friend anymore". haha. So funny.

In all honesty, I feel bad for Tyler. He just doesn't seem to be in the mix any longer.
  • I understand Farrar's frustration with crashing so often in the first few days but from the overhead shot of the incident he has to take some of the blame.

  • Fred Velo is extending much deserved kudos to Team Britspeed. First place by a lot in the EN league, but 8th in THE WORLD. Impressive.

Tyler had no reason to bitch. The lean in didn't cause the crash. Vintage Tyler.

    Indeed, very impressive!  Well done!

I bet once Tyler sees the film he will realize he needs to shut up, lick his wounds, and just ride.

Once again my love for all things Schleck have been my achilles heal.

Yeah, you really need to fix that

Yeah, a gutsy play, picking THREE guys from the same team - I had assumed Bo-Hog and Froomer would sacrifice themselves for the cause, but... And BOTH Fabian and Tony Martin - that's like covering both red and black on the roulette wheel - you can't lose!

  • Would like to note that MooJo is still doing quite well so far despite her Schleck devotion. But of course, there are still 2 more weeks to go.

I think Frank has checked out at this point. He says he went back to assist Kloden, but I think he's just pissed about all things Radio Shack right now. Maybe he can turn that stomach of anger into a great time trial (ha ha ha ha- I know- I'm dreaming). In any case, it was great to see the team rally behind Fabian and help him keep the yellow jersey for the first week. He fought HARD yesterday to show he deserved it.
  • As the Directeur Sportif of Team Britspeed I am ready and willing to submit to any drug tests ;-)

Thanks for the kind words. As Wiggo says it is a long tour. We'll see how the numbers look in 2 weeks time.

Am I greedy for wondering what has happened with Scarponi or was that just a bad pick?
