Tyler's body language in both stage 7 and 8 tells me that he wants to be anywhere but France right now. At the top of the Col de la Croix, he actually looked over at a few spectators, and I swear was just on the verge of saying "get me out of here", before hanging his head and just gutting it out. Sad.
Every year I have the same whine. I need to be the change I wish to see in TV. NBC cuts away every 30 seconds to rerun the same stinkin' commercials.
So....I checked Steephill for online feeds and I see none in the USA. Nemo or someone was complaining about Gogo (Millhouse) and his commentary and I agree but where are you hearing that? I am on Comcast and get Phil Paul on NBC Sports Network which is Universal, no? Or does the Universal non NBC feed still exist separately? Help? I can't take these breaks and relentless Ultra commercials that tell me I'm a complicated, diverse character. I'm not. I just want to see the climb up to the Col de Columbier LIVE. I know we're coming back from yet another commercial to have Paul tell me look what just happened while you were away!
Btw, where is Lance in all the Ultra commercials? I love those commercials where he golfs. He used to ride bikes. You'd think they'd want his commercials during a bike race...

I bought the ipad/iphone app ($25) so i can "monitor" the stages while I'm at work. It's the standard video feed with Phil and Paul's commentary without the commercials (worth it for that alone). I did this last year and it worked out great. I can also listen to "stagecast" through my car stereo on my drive in to work.
I have not see/heard GoGo all tour, don't know where the others are hearing him.
NBC Sports = Versus = Outside Life Network Universal Sports is where the Giro and the Vuelta, as well as some of the other classics are now. It used to be on normal cable channels (Time Warner, Comcast, etc), but disappeared on 1/1/12.
I thought it wouldn't be an issue any longer once Comcast finished the purchase of NBC, I hoped they'd combine or AT LEAST add Universal to the cable folks. But they're holding out trying to make it a PREMIUM sports channel. I might consider adding premium sports to my U-verse, but it's not even offered in ANY package, only online. Pissed.
Thanks for rmiinding me about the iPad app. I just bought it for $14.95.
WOW!
I am on vacation at my house in CO,where I have only basic cable. I hav been relying on Slingboxing the recorded NBCSports show, which is not in HD,and is also quite grainy from allthe connections which it goes thru. And I can onlywatch onmy iPad ... I did not bring my computer.
This app is: in HD; has AirPlay capability,so I can feed it to my HDTV here. The 21st century h finally arrived...NBC got his one right.
My guess: Nemo was calling the nerd to Bobke's left "Gogo". Todd Gogulski is way more enthusiastic than this guy.
Oh that guy, I think his name is Scott somethingotther, yeah, he's realllly booooring. I think his vanity license place is a random series of leters and numbers.

Glad you like the app. They must have reduced the price after X number of days past. For the past two tours I have a TDF friendly work environment (see below) and watch the highlights on my HDTV when I get home.
My non-cycling co-workers know who Peter Sagan is.
Scott's issue is that he's been infected by roadie cool disease. It renders a person unable to not take themselves too seriously. Yes, the vanity plate thing is right on...very funny
Voight's ride yesterday was what racing is all about and passionate efforts such as that one get so overlooked. He singlehandedly ran down a 4 man break that was working together and really working. And then, when he reached them he went right by them, which completely cracked me up. The man rides with pure joy.
Yup- sorry, I got the boring dude's name wrong. Like I said, he comes on and I fall asleep so I can't stay awake long enough to find out who the heck he is!
Bicycling magazine came out with this quick little article on four ways to get yourself to the TdF. It's a joke, but I was hoping it was serious because I REALLY want to go see it in person!
Better yet tho...there's a clip of JENS at the bottom!
Did I miss a memo? Is RSNT somehow exempt from the silly yellow helmet rule? Or did the race organizers just realize how dumb that was and kill it?
PS- in case you haven't heard, Andy is still recovering and while he can't ride, he's swimming. I love him, but I think I could live my whole life perfectly happily without seeing him attempt to do laps in a pool!

Oh great, not only is Nemo going to stalk cycling races, she's going to stalk at Ironmans now too, hoping to see Andy! haha
Ugh. Ya know, I was just wondering why it was so quiet on this rest day. There is almost always some drug bust in the news on a rest day. Oh well, there goes my hope for something exciting in one of the next few remaining stages.
Great stage today...moved from #7 to #3 in the fantasy league ...,.. Guess it helped having both #1 and #2 finisher as well as #5 and #7 on my team :-)

And the first direct doping/doping-related incident at the TdF this year:

Ah yes, it must be a rest day.
Like I said, Russian roulette with 4 bullets.
Has it really been 14 years since the Festina Affair? This time, you can bet the peloton won't strike - that's an improvement of sorts, I guess.

Jens!!, about today's stage.

That said- did he just say he could smell death in the other competitors? How in the world are we going to live without him next year????!

OOPS! Violated my own rules and previous scaldings! Apologies!

I happen to Like GoGo's commentary.

Another article about Jens and his performance yesterday.
Also...pay VERY close attention to the first line in the 4th paragraph. Has anyone heard of this, for certain?

I guess a suitable substitute would be if he got into (English) commentating!

Stage 12: If Sagan makes it to the intermediate sprint point with the peloton, he WILL go on to win at the uphill finish.
Ouch.
Nice pick with Rollands, Al. He looked like he could do that again.
Sorry Nemo!

Unfortunately for Bruneel, this will probably add fuel to the fire of a "conspiracy" at the teams he's managed over the years.
