Matt: since you posted this thread on the front page, i thought i would bump it up to the top. As i sit on the couch and detrain in the hopes of having an MRI that will refute my diagnosis after 90 days of rest, i am spending a lot of time reflecting on my IM journey. Part of that journey was you and Sandra! Meeting you in Louisville 2011, soaking in your enthusiasm and dining with Sandra mocking you over your boyish enthusiasm for IM & EN are great memories. Sandra helped me out immeasurably showing my girlfriend Leslie, the ins and outs of IM spectating for the day while i played my game. (btw, if you can find the pics Sandra took of me planting a kiss on Leslie as i ran up to or off of the bridge, i would be most thankful. Sandra was on HER game that day!
Fast forward to just 3 months later in Arizona. It was clear something was off. Sandra touched us, as did you. One of my great memories of what may be my last IM was asking the guy treading water next to me before the spot if he had the clock time as he looked at his watch, only to realize it was you and had the ability to shake off the pre-race nerves with some awesome mojo shared with you.
Sandra is missed, and you have been as well. I am glad you are back to share your positivity and allow us to help you keep her memory alive.
Matt - it's only been a few months, but we hope you are doing better and thinking of the future. Please post a status update when you are ready. r/Paul
