  • Oh No John. Get on treating the injuries stat. If you feel that running the marathon is going to put you out for to long after, drop down to the half or step away. Do not risk being injured just to finish this marathon. Not worth it. The marathon will be around forever.
  • @ Brenda, Letting lose after the Marathon.... at that point maybe 2 cups of chicken broth or are we talking about Sunday night in the City ? SUNDAY NIGHT IN THE CITY MY FRIEND. I AM STAYING WITH LIEBS AND WE HAD A GREAT TIME LAST YEAR AFTER THE RACE IN THE CITY.

I peg you at a 3:55 finish is that good ? GOOD PEG. I DID A 3:54:59 LAST YEAR AND THINK THAT I SHOULD BE SOMEWHERE AROUND THERE THIS YEAR I THINK.

What about you David. What time are you shooting for or thinking you are going to come in at?

  • @ John, I thought your pacing was aggresive but you smoked your first HIM so I figured why not roll with it. Well I guess you know more about pacing now. another thought if you recover with your injury Vdot down 3 points. Whats the hurry? You can always run faster more towards the end.
  • Pacing not necessarily the problem. Have a habit of over reaching on speed work which I think caused hamstrings to be tight. Tried to push last three miles of 20 mile run even though could feel hamstring.
  • I will be running the Marine Corp Marathon on Sunday as well. Flying in from the other Washington on Thursday night. Since getting hit by a car in July (while pre-riding the ironman Tahoe course) and trying to get back into it, my pace has gone from a 7:25 pace to something around 9:00/mile. So I am just going to enjoy myself and see what happens. My brother is running also and hopes to beat a 3:00:00.
  • Steve and John...good luck to both of you.  The Marine Corp is on my list to do someday.  Have fun.. And Steve - it is good to see you recovering from you accident and IMC race.

  • @ Steve, that is quite a trip for a Mary. Where will you stay in Washington I figure you want to be close to the venue ?
  • @Bruce- recovery has been SLOW! Collarbone isn't healing right, due to work. I probably would have bagged this race if i hadn't gotten my brother to run it too. This has been quite a year. Taking the next two months completely off.

@David- staying with my brother in Bowie, Maryland. Taking the train in Sunday morning with 30,000 of my closest friends.
  • Steve. Glad to hear you're recovering. Dealing with injury is never easy. Have a great time at the race and if you see a guy crawling to the finish line it will probably be me.image. Looking forward to two weeks off before starting the IM Texas push
  • @ Steve, Logistics wise that race is a challenge and by that I mean getting in and out of there. I'm retired military and would like to do that as well. Wonder if the Prez could help a Brother out.
  • Decided how I'm going to run the race. Pace at vdot plus 2.5 as long as heart rate stays below 80 percent of HRmax
