  • CC, you are amazing.

Ahem...about my run? Well, it's done. My 1000x's right about 5:00 per. Just under Chris G's per mile pace.

I yam what I yam. Off 'til Tuesday.

  • Lots of awesome going on in this haus -- and with such challenging workouts!

I didn't know if I had it in me today, but I found the running qi in full force. Do you ever have one of those workouts where you really remember how much you love running? Like more than almost anything? That was my run. Love these days.

Hamstrings and quads are seriously hurting after this jump back into workouts. I'm looking forward to some serious stretching and foam rolling later on.

  • Broke away from protocol this a.m. to head over to the Boston (Derry) Prep 16 miler. It's a hilly loop in my backyard and we hit it up every year regardless of fitness. On a professional level, it's a must do event for me and is easily one of my bigger marketing events in support of my runners gearing up for the marathon.

Wasn't sure how this one would go since I wasn't bringing much long run fitness into the mix. The course itself is all up and all down with one big 2+ mile section from miles 11-13 called Warner Hill.

My big goals going in were 1) keep it easy in the early miles (settled into a 9-9:15 which is my recent comfy long run pace between LRP + MP) and 2) do not at any cost get passed by Kenny and Cindy (two of my friends who I will then have to listen to until next years event).

Both goals accomplished but man...I had to freaking earn it to catch Cindy in the last mile.

Highlight for this years event was my last two miles were @ 7:51 pace which was a rush considering I was on fumes after the big hill.

Total run time: 2:30:12. Pretty sure that earns me a few beers and some quality couch/football time!

  • Great work everyone. My legs are really shelled after this weekends workouts.

Leg still a little sore from the drill bit incident, I'll have to go a check my last tetenas shot date as Nemo mentioned in the bike thread.  I am pretty sure though its been in the last 10 years as I've had nails etc... go into the flesh before.

Run felt difficult today and had to throw myself into serious race mode to make the last interval then just about

    I did 4X200 @ 5:30pace, then the 4X1000 as 5:46, 5:49, 5:50, 5:56.  (Wicked windy here this morning messed with ya)

I will take the MUCH NEEDED REST the rest of today and tomorrow

FInally have a shot at running faster than you today...mental note for when we race, stab trent in leg 2 days before...

35-30 Folks racing LP this summer, this could be a very important part of your race plan

BRING IT!!  I"LL TAKE ANYTHING YOU"VE GOT

  • Good day for the team ending a tough week on such a strong note.  Got mine done as well.  7.5 miles total.

2 mile WU.  After the 2x200s I hit the 1,000s at 6:18, 6:18, 6:19, 6:06 pace (needed a 6:25.)  Was wierdly easier for me today than Wed....go figure???    Most likely the team mojo, I can't imagine anything else.

On one last note, My twins competed (6 yrd old boys in their first mini tri today.)  Was great to watch.  Andrew came in 2nd out of 7 and Justin 4th......Kona bound for sure!

Just an awesome feeling to see your offspring compete in these things isn't it?  Beats doing your own selfish races any day.

    Love it!!!!

  • Had a nice run in the mist today with the pup. @Trent, you really should get a dog. My dog just loves it and I love running with her. She is finally getting into interval shape! She even picks up the pace when she hears the Garmin beep for the start of the next interval. So crazy that she does that.

As for the run. All intervals were at 6:52 or slightly better, going from memory here as I am at work and don't have the splits in front of me. Got in 6 mi in 52'. Wasn't sure what I would have today but felt pretty good. Hamstring is a little sore but at least I didn't get a drill bit in the leg.

@Shaughn - Great job by the kids. Can't wait till me little ones can get involved.
  • @ Trent - can't wait to watch you roll this summer.  You coming out for the camp in June?  I know a nice little hill where we can put those w/kg to the test.

@ Shaughn - that is awesome that the boys got to race.  I love when the kiddies race.  Where are the pics?  It really is much more fun to watch than the big kid races.

  • Went a little crazy waiting for my test so i ratcheted down my Track #s. Some were dumb haha
200 - 4:30 ( decided half way through wanting to see how much speed ive lost i should rethink and slowed down!
    200 - 5:30
    1000 - 6:30
    1000 - 6:50
    1000 - 6:50

Since I have tomorrow off I decided to go hard to make my mind happy! my Z5 = 8:07.... Im so ready to retest!

Sure is.  Took me a touch over an hour at an NP of 308 to get up last year.  This year I plan to apply more watts while bringing less KG to the party.  Last year the best in our little gang was 56:xx.  Ahhh epicman with murphy's law stupidity challenge weekend.  Think it is my fav tri related weekend of the year.  Combined with the en camp it is gonna be fantastic!

All, pics attached of the Den 6 Tri today.  I am the skinny old man in the scout shirt (Den Leader)  Andrew is blonde in red shirt or black swim tights and Justin is the red head.

Thanks for the nice words all!

  • I've been ditching the Sunday intervals to do long runs with a friend. We're running Boston on sponsor's exemption, and it's his first marathon. We did 17 today at a bit over 2:30, so ~9:00ish + some walking while we ate/drank. The paths around the lakes were finally clear, so we weren't slipping and sliding around for a change. Great run!
  • Wow.  Sunday's intervals take some mental fu after Satuday's crusher ride.  Nailed the 2x200 , like that is tough!  The 4x1000 was tough but ran them all under my IP pace of 7:02/mile and last one was up hill so felt like major victory!!

Legs are gonna feel it tomorrow!!

  • Met up with Keith B at the local HS track yesterday morning to hit this one.  Legs definitley felt sluggish after the Saturday morning sufferfest but we soldiered through.

    2x200 at sub 6:00 pace

    4x1000 at 6:05, 6:08, 6:02 and 5:57

With the warm-up and cool-down it was around an hour for 8 miles.  Really feel the need for a rest.

That's my AG!  Hey, Trent, I'll buy you a beer up in Placid.  No, that's not a nailgun on the barstool...

Got mine done on the treadmill last night, 2 x 200, 4 x 1000, all at 5:55's.  Felt much tougher between the ears than in the legs.  Body could have kept going, the pace didn't feel that hard.  The mind was having a tough go of it, and I'm not quite sure why.
