2nd Annual Carrot Award showdown

Last year about this time we needed some positive motivation/energy/whatever to counterbalance a stick situation [don't ask] and I came up with the super fantastic CARROT AWARDs.  No pressure but I think that all recipients went on to have great seasons, huge prs, AG wins, Kona and Clearwater trips, etc.  Just seeing someone else's award has been known to increase ftp a watt or 2.

Rules are really simple...anyone raises their FTP by 10 watts and posts the file to this thread and gives me their address will receive a super awesome incredible CARROT AWARD...for any lil peeps out there, 6 watts are enough.

Get some rest this weekend, it is GAME ON for Monday!

Last year the majority of them went to the mid west, lets see some east coast west coast crushing this year.

  • Awesome! I think I can do it, so thanks for the extra incentive!
  • Chris this is great!  I predict the Midwest to take it again this year!

Maybe also give a regional award - Top carrot goes to the region with the highest overall average % improvement in w/kg?  That may be too much work/analysis.  Just a thought....

    Again, thanks!

  •  The midwest is weak this year, heck the Matts are barely able to run, Trent is likely to develop lockjaw and noodle is wasting his time with nordic skiing

  • I think the north east will be a contender this year.

Phillip and I will try to take up some of the slack for Trent and Matt......

  • I've good confidence in the new blood in the midwest. Plus Trent and I are in the Power Clinic so unless Rich decides to change the PC plan no test for us next week anyway.

BTW, I still have my carrot award from last year. It was a great source of motivate not only to try and earn it but as something to look at when I was suffering through the last few weeks of the OS.

you know what they say about excuses...

Have not confirmed it but I have heard that a carrot award was sold on ebay for big dollars last year

  • I'm startiing to make book in my head.

I was thinking of course about Dave "The" Halligan in the heavyweight division. Odds on favorite following his recent 2/2's. He's been very quiet lately....
Flyweight has to go to Leigh " Outta My Face" Boyle. Pound for pound, toughest out there. Serious shot over the bow last week. Kitboo (same division) has been super quiet lately. Word on the strip is she's ready to pounce.
Men's bantamweight I'm picking a midwest guy, Trent "The Toolguy" Plough. He's been drillin it lately.
Middleweight, Shaun "Steady" Simmons. He's keeps working. He will shock the world.

Grizzled vet division, top contenders year in, year out: Chris "The Ringleader" Gleason, a true gamer. Linda "The Truth" Patch. Rested and ready to throw down.

Anybody esle? I'm leaving a bunch off but gotta get out to the hurt barn for the sweat/freeze cycle.

    Love it.

    Keith "The Professor" Buell

    Carrie "The Sandbagger" Chavez

    Chris "The Joker" Malone

    Matt "The Myth" Ancona

    Mike "The Predator" Graffeo

    Keep 'em coming...

  • I think we need

    Chris "Berman" Malone

    and

    Chris "The Schwam" Waltz

just for those nicknames!  Love it!

    -The Predator

  • yet another cool thing inside EN. guessing I can't submit by 20' ITT result and multiply that by .95 to earn my new FTP, right (he says, scared). Would be 332 for a w/kg of 4.17 .....
  • Me so sad, I miss being part of the NOVOS and having the Carrot! Awesome stuff!

And Chris M- you crack me up!
Trent "The Toolguy" Plough. He's been drillin it lately
    HA HA HA HA!

Seriously- you need to go into standup !
  • @Nemo - bang out the test and I will be happy to send you one

@P - only 322, were you sick or something?  With the adjustment for the ergomo thats about 270 right?

Man I gotta find another 50 watts or lost 20 pounds or something.

  • @Chris G - I was wondering what the carrot awards were but was too lazy to ask.  Great idea, now I have extra incentive to get 10+ watts.  I'm going for 15 watts so I really have no excuses not to get a carrot award.

  • Lovin' this! So fun! I've never had a nickname before--at least one someone would use to my face! image Ready to lay it down, and give it a go!

  • Do we get an award if we decrease our FTP 10%???

  • @Gordon - if you want to know what a carrot award is crank out the watts and you will know soon enough

@Greg - I may be finding out myself.

Will admit to being pretty banged up from an unfortunate incident trying to slide one of those white plastic rail/mailbox things yesterday. Hurts to raise my left arm over my head and most of my left side, mostly my hip, is pretty tender. Should be interesting. I would blow off the test but with all the smack I have been laying down the last few days that is really not an option :-)

  • More importantly.....how come i didnt get a nickname?!

    "X Games" Gleason,
You know what they say about excuses.....image I wish I had one. I just want to blow it off out of shear laziness.
    Good luck.

  • Snagged myself a Carrot Award with a watt to spare! What a great to start the week (in a sick kind of way).

  • 1 for the midwest. I can attest that Noodle is spending his time Nordic skiing. For those of you who aren't FB friends of mine yet, here was the highlight of the 2 hour ski we went on Sunday.

About 15K into the day we're cruising along past a few slow pokes. Going up a slight grade I hear Noddle say, "fast skier coming up". Not one to just concede, I step it up and we hold the guy off for 1K or so. Then we come to a road where we have to take off the skis and walk across. The guy pulls up next to us and turns out to be at least 60 years old. We exchange pleasantries, talk about upcoming races, etc. I mention that it's our first year skiing, and he says, "what do you guys do in the summer". "Triathlon," I reply. "Well, you guys look really athletic out there." Then off he goes and it's the last we see of him.

It was only afterwards that I realize what he was really saying was, "gee guys, you're REALLY bad skiers"! Too funny!
  • Im getting there slowly but surely. 7 watt bump up to 168. Is that a baby carrot? You know what, I have a better idea. I award myself the brussel sprout award for a watt bump between 5-9!!!! For those you dont know, me and b spout go way back.

We could make this even better by making it a drinking game. How about a shot of Tequila for every 5 watt bumpage. You get an extra shot if you can bounce your water bottle into a trash can ten feet away after the ride.

@ Nemo: Stil have that salt? Oh, rumor has it....Elvis Returns in CDA 2011.

  • While there are a lot of you claiming victory I have exactly 2 addresses.
  • Sent you a PM with my address.

Thanks for providing the carrot needed to really push hard!
