App to track food and sleep's affect on performance

I'm wondering if any of you keep daily records of your sleep quality, food intake and workouts/races to see how the first 2 affect the 3rd.

I'm not looking for a calorie counter or track a bunch of WKO metrics.

Just want to write down notes regarding my daily food intake, sleep quality and WKOs to keep track of how I feel.  If I felt like I nailed it or barely made it after a WKO/race, I can look back at several days to see what could potentially have caused the improvement/setback.

  • Thai - I recently started using a fitbit. It tracks my sleep patterns; I log my meals and calories; and I can import my workout data from garmin connect so that I can see all the data in one place. I'm very happy with it. I still use garmin connect for specifics of my workouts, but importing overall duration/distance/cals burned into fitbit helps within the overall context of the fitbit dashboard for what I call 'quality of life' metrics.

  • Interesting! Didn't think of Fitbit. Which model do you have?

How accurate would you gauge Fitbit to be for tracking sleep pattern/quality?

  • Thai - I initially had the Force, because I thought Id' want to see metrics directly on my wrist. However, I developed a severe allergic reaction to the nickel on the back of the Force and traded it in for the One, which I clip to my belt. I like it much better ... it' discrete and I can easily remove it, e.g. when I'm sitting for extended periods of time. It syncs w/ an app on my smartphone so if I want to track stats throughout the day, I can easily do that. Often, however, I just check out my dashboard at the end of the day, and don't feel the need to check my numbers during the day.

Regarding the sleep tracking, you hit a button when you go to bed, and then hit it again when you wake up. It somehow measures time in bed, vs time asleep vs time restless and give you a % of sleep efficiency. I don't know how accurate it is, but if nothing else, I can track how many hours I log. Usually, when I feel like I'm dragging, I can pinpoint it back to not having gotten enough sleep the night before, so it's a helpful feature to increase awareness.
  • Thanks Kate! Definitively helpful. Will look at the various Fitbit models and see what works. Appreciate it.
