  • Hi Dusty- I'm 50 M from Houston. Lots of in-state races to choose from. Looks like we might bump into each other at Lonestar, Cap Tex, Buffalo Springs, or Prairieman.
  • Name: _noodle_
    Real Name: Josh Choate
    Location: Prior Lake MN
    Sign: Aries

Likes: Speed, humor, being at home with family

Dis-likes: getting behind on the EN forums and having his children learn naughty words from him in EN videos

Summary: former FAT BOY (lost 86lbs in 2007), 33yo male, married for 11 years to female April. We have 3 offspring together, Ariel 10, Anders 8, Annika 6. No pets. Business owner. 2009 was my first serious year of triathlon(s) and racing. Raced IMWI in 2009.
  • Hi. I'm Bryan Bigari, 37 from Pewaukee, WI.
I joined EN in November 2008. My first IM was IM-Moo-09. I think I'm mentally finally caught up on all the real-life things I let drop during training, so looking forward to hitting it hard in the off-season.

I'm married to Tracy for 13 years - she's really taking to running the past 3 and is really getting fast. I need to keep up! We have 3 children (9,6,2) who are a lot of fun. We also have a beagle named Jobu. My job is picking stocks for two mutual funds.

I'll probably do High Cliff and another half this year, and a bunch of smaller ones. I'm on a personal two-year plan - this year is about getting serious on body composition and having fun with some shorter local races/cool events.
  • Tracy Wood- Baltimore, MD

2009 turned out to be my year of injuries, medical issues; ready for it to be behind me.
First year for EN Outseason, plans for IM Lake Placid 2010, EN Cowgirls supporter/ sherpa/cheerleader 2010 and cowgirl camp

Have had a great career in Nursing- travelled as a nurse for a few years ( San antonio, new orleans, phoenix, modesto albequerque) lived in Madison, WI for 1 1/2 yrs, back to AZ for 9 years. Worked as a NP with Vets, then flight nurse before going to Anesthesia school. Now back east closer to family, but miss AZ. Pretty much an Adrenaline Junkie
Looking forward to working hard and getting back into shape!
  • Hi guys!! I'm Katy Hillard coming to you from Sycamore (aka BuFu), IL. I grew up in Pennsylvania and went to Penn State, and I am a Nittany Lion fan through and through. I work in Ag research...specifically soybean entomology and pathology. I'm working full time and going to grad school 3/4 time, which often gets dicey on top of training, but I plan to pull it off. I have lived in Sycamore for about 2.5 years...I used to wonder why the heck I ended up in the middle of bufu...figured there HAD to be some valid reason...and then I met an outstanding individual--my boyfriend Andrew, so I will deal with this wretched place for a while longer because he's wicked cool and worth it.

I have been swimming since I was 6, running since I was 14, and I just started biking 3 years ago when I decided I should get into triathlons. I have done 2 sprint tri's and 7 HIM's. I have been really half-assed with training in the past, and I'm excited to change that. I am an EN OS virgin...and I'm really pumped for Nov! Have been in the process of pimping out my pain cave so I can endure all the hard work. My goals are to hit 4:45 HIM and contend at Clearwater. I want to do a full IM, but I'm not even going there until I can prove to myself that I'm invested enough to train the hell out of a HIM season.

Pumped to do WORK alongside you all!!
  • Dan Kerr age 41 from Lancaster, PA (also a Penn Stater, Katy)
Married 18 years to college sweetheart Lori, who's a faster runner than me.
    2 great boys: Colin 13 & Kyle 11.

EN'er since July '07. Was one of Patrick's PTS athletes before that.
Completed IMLP '07 and a bunch of HIMs.
Planning on a breakthrough at Eagleman 2010, which means sub-5 for me.
Probably doing LP'11 with a crew from my local tri club. Plan to race it this time.

Manage the energy services division of a large contractor in Harrisburg.

Really looking forward to suffering together!
  • John Dannenfeldt age 57(!) from East Moline, IL- born Rockford, IL->Champaign(Aerospace Engr-Illini!)->Chicago(Northwestern Med School)->Peoria(Family Practice Residency)
Married 34+years to Teresa (recreational biker and fantastically supportive/tolerant soulmate), with son 29(Administrator Champaign), daughter 27(Music educator- St Louis- with grand-dog Doogie the Beagle)

Active with Rich w/Crucible before charter ENer in 8/07- survivor of OS1, DecOS2 and the PowerHack Gang.
FFB(formerly FatBoy) until runup to IMWI05- lost 60# in 1 yr with a goal to finish the race (only my 4th triathlon- not smart?)

Had a very solid prep for IMWI09 and actually ENJOYED the day despite sitting at the top of Garfoot with a broken front spoke for a 60 minutes mechanical before the IM angels found me a replacement front wheel. I was privileged enough to pass over 300 on the rest of the bike and the run before getting a 40' PR.

Likes: EN challenges (my wife thinks I'm nuts pushing them so hard), 30/30s (yep!)
    Nov OS challenges:
    1. fix my running form- since IMWI I've ONLY run with Vibram FFs (~20/wk) and everything feels great! Can't wait to mix in some speed work.
    2. Drop that last 10-15#- (currently 215# @ 6"4")
    3. Build a solid core- it's really awful now and holds back my run and swim I'm sure.
    4. Get my swim efficiency up- I like to swim but my drag is awful.

    '010 Events:
    1. Melbourne Beach HM 2/5/010 (following a med conference and my first space shuttle launch(I helped do the design in the 70's- no Orings or heatshield stuff)
    2. Lots of local races- sprints, HyVee Oly, probably High Cliff(wherever Matt's going I guess....)

Definitely looking forward to spending another winter as a Pain Cave Man with all of you.
    John
  • Chris Malone, The Plains, Va.
    48, 8 HIM, 10 Oly, 1 IM, w/ Roth 2010 coming up.
2 kids, 1 business that makes me want to ride my bike A LOT
Been a member here since Moses wore short pants.
Goal is to execute to the letter the OS program, and then execute to the letter an IM program because I have this little issue with commitment.
Want an FTP of 350 (not that big a deal as I weight 230) by March '10. Next summer want to finish Roth then podium as a Clydesdale at Everest Challenge in September.

Already feel behind, like that dream where you've not been to class all semester and the final is coming up.....

  • Robin Cline 44 Harrodsburg, KY (grew up in Northern Virginia though and REALLY miss the east coast image). Have a husband (that is slowly adjusting to my new found love of tris)and two boys, Jack 9 and Kevin 8 (yeah - you read that right - WOOPS!). I own a kennel for boarding dogs and breed Labrador Retrievers and train retrievers for people to hunt with. Yes, I shoot too - if it flies it dies, but nothing with lips or eyelashes image

Did my first 70.3 - Augusta on September 27 and LOVED it! I don't have any Iron dreams and am just planning to concentrate on the 1/2 distance for now. I moved my A race up to July for next year though. That training got in the way of football games, tailgating and beer drinking in September! @Bryan - my A race is Muncie too.

Really looking forward to training the EN way this coming year and getting to know you all better!
  • Michael Johnson (fka jayhawk)
Salina KS (still the only ENer in Ks)
    Orthopedic Surgeon 47 yr old

Did 70+ tris in the 80's in college....went sedentary for med school and residency
Back into tris and running since 2000 (completed 6 IMs so far and 10+ marathons)

  • Michael McMahon
    Ottawa, Canada

43 years old, married to beautiful & understanding wife Sue.
Completed IMUSA, Tupper Lake, and Muskoka last year
About 5 years of triathlon experience, ran 1 stand-alone marathon
2010: the year of the HIM (and shorter) and giving back to my wife

This is my first OS with EN (joined just before IMUSA this year). Last year was very hard on Sue with the training for IMUSA. This year is all about paying that back to her. And the EN approach to training fits well with that model.

    Goals for this year:
    1) Get much stronger on the bike (current FTP 255, trying to figure out if reaching the magical 300 mark is within the realm of possibiliity)
    2) Increase vDOT to 45 and run a 1/2 mary under 1h40
  • Steve Perkins
    Denver, CO
    Lawyer, 39 y.o.
Married (Laura), with 3 y.o. twin boys (Alex & Will)
Completed 2004 & 2007 IM Moo and several Halfs
    Training since 2003
    2010 - IM USA

I've been with EN since the beginning. The focus on fast then far fits much better with my lifestyle than logging mega-hours. I think my wife appreciates it to some extent, although she'd probably prefer I quit racing long, but I figure she only has to deal with it once every three years.

    Goals for the year:
    1. Maintain (and improve) on biek gains from last year
    2. Improve the run
    3. Sub-12 at IM USA
  • Linda Patch

    Lexington, MA

Married to uber-biker Keith for 28 years. He's my bike guru and riding "partner"

New furry baby--6 month old black lab named Cali

I have run Linda Patch & Associates, my own marketing and PR consulting business since 1991. Before that I was Director of PR and Marketing at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts for 10 years.

I am a dancer turned athlete. I have done more than 70 triathlons in over 17 years, and countless other marathons, halfs, and running/tri races of all distances. I excel in NO discipline of sport. I just do it all for fun.

I did IMFL in 2006 and 2008. EN program got me to a 95' PR in FL! IM #3 has me part of the Chicka Moo Moo crew for 2010!

Burned out after IMFL, and 2009 was the first time in 17 years I did no major event. It took an entire year to recover (mentally) after too many years of pushing. Feeling the tri love again, and looking forward to 2010!

EN member since day one. This will be my third OS!

Goals for 2010--keep my quads healthy to get that sub-13 at IMWI!

Goals: Improve on the bike and run! I want to remove slow from my race vocabulary!

IMLP in 2011 - Goal is sub 11 hour (w/ Dan Kerr and the some folks from HTC)

I too have a saint of a wife and three wonderful kids from ages 2yrs to 9yrs old. The thing I am most stoked about for this year is watching my daughter (9) get the tri bug. She has been swimming for 2yrs and has recently joined "Girls on the Run", which is a program to help young girls get into the sport and build self confidence.

BTW - for the new folks who joined let me give you some advice. Be a sponge and absorb as much as possible. We train differently than most triathletes. Once you get used to it you will see the benefits in short order.

Toss you old training schedule in the toilet. If EN can make an IM out of me, they must be doing something right!
