Currently worried about racing American Zofingen this weekend as I have never done any sort of trail run, never done a duathlon and never tried to run 5 miles after drinking an irish car bomb...should be interesting :-)

09 has been a year of missing goals by tiny increments...goal of 300 watt ftp test on the trainer, best was 299...goal of climbing whiteface in less than an hour, managed 1:00:08 [but did drop R and P like 3rd period french image]...goal of running sub 40 minutes off the bike...managed 40:06...

    3x IM CdA finisher (2005-07)
    1x Full Vineman DNFer (2009)
    ----

Plans for 2010 are TBD. Very motivated to do the Markleeville Death Ride in July (129 miles w. 15,000 ft of climbing, at altitude), and maybe some other road-bike-oriented epics. Not sure about doing an IM, but if I do one in 2010 it'll be a late-season offering, possibly Canada, Moo (even though I swore I'd never do that one), or AZ. Key variables: whether or not I have enough mental energy to train properly (family commitments and recently started my own business) and whether I decide I'm motivated enough to spend all that training time down in the aerobars instead of on my exceedingly fun road bike.

A Texan and happy to be here!
    Train on!
  • Hi Peeps. Looking forward to some nice improvement in FTP and V-dot over the next 5 months. I'm finishing my 28th triathlon season and racing 50-54 AG. I've had a successful short-course career, but have never been able to fit more than 12 hours of consistent training into my schedule...I'm a physician with five teenagers. Five IM finishes, the last two under the guidance of Gordo Byrne. Three weeks ago, I executed a nearly perfect Ironman race for an old guy on 12 hours-a-week of training. I had to give up a lot of time on the bike and run to stay strong to the finish. The EN plan fits my needs and my life. I'm going to cash in on some spousal approval units in the OS and put in the volume next fall. My wife wants to visit the Cape Hattaris lighthouse, so I'm going to B2B Full Distance in early Nov. 2010. A few 70.3 and a couple of Olympic (for my ego) will help the months pass. The Lonestar 70.3 on Galveston Island (about a month after OS ends)will be a flat and fast opportunity for me to test-drive my newly minted speed. image
