Week 4 Holiday Scheduling Thread

Yes, it's still Week 3. But we're staring down a Thanksgiving holiday...and perhaps some travel and family obligations...and most definitely lots of yummy eats. How are you going to get 'er done and still celebrate? Let's brainstorm, folks!

I'll go:

Monday - (Tuesday's) Bike*

Tuesday - (Thursday's) Bike, then drive to my parents' (hey Rochester EN-ers!)

Wednesday - Nothin'

Thursday - 10k Turkey Trot

Friday - Um...probably just digest

Saturday - (Sunday's) Run**, then drive back home

Sunday - (Saturday's) Bike

* But not if I'm trashed from the weekend

** But not if I just don't feel like it

  • I'm dreading the body comp weigh-in the week during week 5.  No doubt that stuffing and pumpkin pie will be taking their toll.

The good news is that this is the first Thanksgiving in many years that we won't be traveling, so my schedule will be pretty normal.

Mon: off (recovery from Philly marathon)

Tues: off (recovery from Philly marathon)

    Wed: Bike/Run

Thurs: Run - 5 mile Turkey Trot

    Fri: Bike/Run

    Sat: Bike/Run

    Sun: Run

  • I was thinking of stacking the tuesday and thursday bikes on tuesday and wednesday as I will be out of town on Thurday and Friday. Might be overly ambitious.
  • I'm with you, Chris. Bikes on T + W. 4 mile turkey trot on Thurs. Friday off (heading to Jersey) and then swapping Sat + sun so I can bike when I get home. image

  • I'm doing the T/W bike workouts as well. Truth is, while these workouts are hard while you're at it, recovery is quick.
I'm planning to take Thursday off, dedicate it totally to family, run F/S out of town, then get final bike/brick done Sunday.
Good luck to all of us ! and have a great Thanksgiving.
  • I'm just shifting the normal week to left.. starting on Monday instead of Tuesday. Hopefully I'll get the wednesday workout in. To all those that do a Turkey Trot race, I'll have a drink to ya....my Turkey day starts with a tailgate at 8am. So I'll have a bloody mary for al ofl you that are running! Biscally my Thursday and Friday are shot as far as working out. Hopefully the hangover won't affect Saturday! image)))

  • heading up to Lincoln, NH for the Polar Express with the kids on Friday.  Thinking about a Lincoln-Conway-Lincoln bike ride climbing the Kanc twice.

  • I am doing Monday (sat bike), Tues (Tues bike), Wed (Thurs bike), then it's run for the next few days until we get back on Sunday night...gonna really hurt..

ps - Dave, you know you have to pay for your own rescues in NH these days, right? image
  • OK. I'm a bit depressed. Looks like I'll miss most of week 4 due to travel to Toronto. No chance for a bike workout, but should be able to get runs in. Still, upset about missing most of the bike workouts this week, especially since I've been making good progress so far. I will be back on Saturday & Sunday so I'll at least I'll get some of it in.

  • I'm following the Chris/Leigh plan.  Tues/Wed bike, Thurs turkey trot, Fri off, Sat run, Sun bike/run.

Loving having a treadmill now, so that I can do the Sunday workout even if we get back late.

  • I'm doing Monday - Saturday's workout from week 3 (had to miss cuz I helped a friend move)
    Tuesday - tuesday brick
    Wednesday - thursday bike
thursday - wednesday run at the local turkey trot
    friday - off
    saturday - sunday run
sunday - brick - hopefully outside if weather will permit

  • I'm only away from home Wednesday afternoon through Thursday night, so my adjustments are simple:

    Monday thru Wednesday as planned.

Head to State College Weds night for PSU basketball game. Hike Mt Nittany with family Thanksgiving Day morning, then travel to sister's place in Harrisburg.

Move Thursday bike to Friday. Maybe a group ride with friends. Depends on weather and my attitude.

Then swap Saturday and Sunday workouts... somehow fitting them in with my son's weekend basketball tourney.

Looking forward to it all! Happy Thanksgiving...
