'19 Spring Weight Accountability Challenge
Updated sheet link for the Spring challenge - End date May 1
Ok, you've seen the action in the last two challenges, I've gone from a high of 168 post bike crash pityparty eating binge to a svelt 149 over the last two challenges and am now looking to get to race weight! Many others are establishing and setting goals, if you want to look great in spandex this summer and hit the race goals you have, losing 10lbs will do more for you than gaining 10 watts on the bike!
The good news is that the days will all be getting longer and the season planning is going to creep up on you (IMLP is in 29 weeks!)
the rules are as follows
Initial weigh in is now through March 11
post your weigh in, ideally with a pic, of self or scale
choose your target weight that you will weigh when the contest ends in 7ish weeks (May1)
The goal here is to encourage you to either maintain, or hit a reasonable goal weight through the winter season and enter, or continue, the OS lean & mean!
The rules as per our holiday challenge:
1-Declare your current weight (ideally with a posted pic)
2-State your goal weight (Goal Date is 7ish weeks away - May 1)
3-everyone reports weight weekly to this forum thread (Monday morning weight ins), we are on the honor system, but in any given week, the admin(me) can ask for a photo of scale (with toes(mangled or not) on it!)
4-Admin will make a shared google sheet with target weights by week and post a link at the top of this post.
5-If in any week you are more than 2lbs ABOVE ANY intermediate weigh-in target, you must take a non-flexing, picture that shows your face and your fat gut holding a sign that says "I am a fatty fat guy" (or "I'm a fatty fat girl"). This picture must also be posted to the Dashboard on EN as well as the EN Run & Zwift PSA Group Me.
6-If you miss the final weigh-in goal weight, then you have your choice of the following 2 "Insults"
6-A-Do a Whitecastle (or similar) slider 6-pack 1.5 mile run on a track. Eat a slider then run a lap (6x). All on video, to be uploaded to youtube making sure you tell everyone why you are doing the punishment.
Note: if there is no "White Castle" near you, you can substitute with Jack in the box jr hamburgers, or as a last resort, McDonalds Cheeseburgers - you can view the video I did a few years ago here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F1eybd24Koc
6-B-Run a sanctioned "official" race (with a minimum of 100 competitors) at a minimum 5k distance (but could be longer or a triathlon) All on video, to be uploaded to youtube making sure you tell everyone why you are doing the punishment in the following required attire:
Men: wearing nothing but a pink speedo (or mankini), socks and shoes (and race number belt if necessary) - NO SHIRT.
Women: wearing nothing but an American Flag String Bikini, Red Fishnet Thigh Highs (ankle socks if you want) and shoes (and race number belt if necessary) - NO COVERUPS of any kind
7-if anyone has any ideas of a different punishment for the weekly or final challenge, I'd love to hear about it and see if we can broaden the scope.

@Patrick Large @Andrew Lustigman @John Stark @Mark Lane @Dave Campbell @Pat Morton @Jorge Duque @Phil Mills
go to the sheet - fill in your current starting weight in the yellow box under your name, fill in your goal weight in the green box. it should all populate from there
I think IMLP is only 15 weeks.
@tim cronk
@scott dinhofer I say 15 , you say 29, tell ya what, let’s split the difference and call it 20 😀
@scott dinhofer @tim cronk I thought we weren't supposed to even THINK about an Ironman until ~10 weeks before the race...till then, we're just training to train, no?
Hey All- looking forward to this to this round. BTW, I respond well to verbal abuse, so feel free to throw a few jabs or a "come on fat ass, get on the ball"
Hey Guys, I'm looking forward to starting "Phase Deux". With permission from the founder @scott dinhofer my goal on May 1st will be W/Kg based.
As of today I'm 178.0 @ 255w FTP or 3.15W/KG. My May 1st goal is 3.5W/KG or 170.0 lbs @ 270W (20min test @285w).
For me this is an aggressive goal, but right where I need to be to hit 4.0W/KG for Leadville in 22 weeks. Moving my training outdoors (with bare legs!) in Salt Lake (2500ft lower than my house) should give me the results I'm looking for.
Here's today's scale pic:
@Al Truscott - only thing I am thinking about is how much snow we are getting at whistler... they've had almost a drought for 4+ weeks and it's dumping like mad! epic day to be followed by an another epic day... too snowy to get my apres- or pre-run in!
I bring shame to the household... weighing in at 191 this week.
last week was a mental shit show, but all cylinders are firing this week.
I will be at least 189 next week!
224.7 yesterday. Sorry, no pic.
Will be in Moab for 9 days starting Thursday riding my MTB and then jump into the Moab Camp to have @Dave Campbell rip my legs off. So won't weigh next Monday. Back at it on the 25th.
~ Stark
@John Stark My body had other plans this week. I did everything like I have been doing and my body decided to re-hydrate itself. Stuck on 188 vs 185 goal. But you've got skillz, so I'll have to find some way to hang with you. Looking forward to this trip.
Only need 7lbs to reach 185. That was my college race weight nearly 40 years ago... then again, my sprint freestyler upper body has been replaced by a spare tire. Damn Zwift is making my legs huge. No pic, but I promise to eat the sliders if I fail.
Is it too late to get in on the challenge?
@Kevin Hartnett - never too late! - just added you to the sheet at the top of this thread. please enter your weight in the yellow box from last week, enter your goal weight in the green box below your name. Enter each successive weigh in (this past monday) in appropriate box under your name. don't worry, I am aslo behind having spent the bettter part of a week in whistler skiing (and eating too much)
@Dave Campbell & @Pat Morton - need a weigh in from this past week!
@Andrew Lustigman - get on this NOW
Thanks, Scott! Much appreciated!!
Made it by the slimmest of margins. Stomach is not happy and complaining loudly 😩
Good luck to all of you. The punishment for failing at the end is SEVERE! I was too scared to accept Scott's challenge.
Sorry about that @scott dinhofer I miss-read the dates on the sheet. Weights are up to date although body is not complying.
come on @Paul Hough you could be the exception to the rule "Nobody looks good in a skinsuit"!
I don't know about anybody else but I definitely was not eating like I was about to hit the Leadville course. My weight has been as low as 176.6 and as high as 182.0 in the last 10 days. Clearly I need to get my focus back or I'll need to man up and post those Fatty St. Paddy pics and NOBODY wants to see that.
@Kevin Hartnett looks to be hitting it hard! With an agressive 2 pounds per week goal ! good for you! What's your Goal Race?
How about everyone else? Are you thinking of Kona or Leadville or "insert goal race here" when you made your food choices this last week?
@Pat Morton ... the real truth is no man looks good in a pink speedo! That leaves scarfing and barfing as the only alternative punishment!
I’m trying to get down to 175 lbs @ 5’9” by June for then 1/2 Sauer, 1/2 Kraut Marathon in Philly. Both marathons I’ve run Have been with a 20 lb handicap and I’m refusing to do it again 😄
My ultimate goal is to be at 165 lbs for the Chicago Marathon in October.
The “easy” lbs are gone. The struggle is real now!
a little late posting , but had a good week. 188.3lbs
And not that we need to... but today's weigh in at 187.4!! back on track!!
Was 151.5, have to star getting serious or else I am in trouble next week
Okay so far, but were only two weeks in. Not sure how next week's weigh in is going to go. Attempting the Sufferfest Knighthood challenge on Saturday and celebrating my birthday on Sunday. I foresee a lot of swelling and beer recovery drinking.
Broke the 200 barrier. Eating better and sticking to the training plan (mostly).
Gained a few lbs. over past 2 weeks. 8 days in Moab kinda through me off my weight loss focus. Think it is mostly sodium intake. I did, however, go down one belt loop.
The Thai food during the EN Moab Camp was worth it. :-). Oh, and In-N-Out Burger on the drive home was damn good as well.
Back on it today.
Finished the Knights of Sufferlandria quest Saturday. As predicted, my weight is up 3+ pounds from 8+ brutal hours on the trainer. Hopefully the swelling will be down by tomorrow when I make this week's weight official.
