  •  Glenn, the best advice I have is that EN and Coaches RnP are the race execution wizards. Your fitness is whatever it is on race day. Following their race execution strategies will give you the best possible performance outcome, whatever your underlying fitness, course conditions, weather, etc. I'd say if you haven't already done it, dive deep into these resources, and ask questions for clarification:

http://www.endurancenation.us/store...er_kit.php This has both the Power Webinar and the Four Keys DVD, both worth the $.

For free, you may already have seen this, it contains links to all the key resources on race execution: http://endurancenation.us.dnnmax.co...+(Ironman)

It's a LOT to read and absorb, and it won't all be clear on first go, so start now if you haven't already.

If you think from first principles, my key one is: Ironman race execution is all about setting yourself up to NOT SLOW DOWN on the run, especially in the last 6-10 miles. All the strategies are designed to accomplish this goal

If you want pithy advice, mine is: go slower (easier) than you think you should the first third of each leg, and you'll be able to go harder than you think you can in the last third of the run.

  • Hey Folks,

Time to get organized! Please go to our tracking spreadsheet to enter your race weekend details. This will make it easy for us track you on race day, update you efficiently as we get closer to the race, etc. Thanks!

  • Glenn Cook- 55- Decatur, GA. Fly internationally for Delta Air Lines and have small law practice. Being on the road makes the training difficult but I manage. Have a great son, Sam, who will be coming along to cheer us on. I look forward to building time and endurance with EN and meeting new people.

Goals--I hope to beat my 13:10 time from IMAZ

Races: my second full Ironman. Have done 4 HIMs and numerous olympic and sprints.
  • Hi - Lisa here - finally taking some time to check in the forums -just finished grad school and student teaching so my load has finally lightened - sorry to be so absent. However, I've done all of my training (missed one workout in the 20 week plan!).

    Lisa McCauley - 42 - Libertyville, IL
My goals are to finish smiling, to survive the swim (I hate cold water and not a huge fan of swimming in general - image ). I wouldn't mind a PR either if that is meant to be.
This will be my second IM (first was IM MOO in 2008 and I was not in EN then) - and I feel much stronger and fitter under EN. My major goal is to execute well and not walk as much on the run as I did in Madison - my Madison time was 14:06 and I'd love to beat that if I can. I figured out even if I just managed 11 minute miles on the run I could take 45 minutes off my time!!

I was born in Pullman Washington and still have lots of family out in Spokane and a grandma in Canada just north of Idaho so I'm looking forward to heading back out west. Also, looking forward to meeting the EN people!
  • Jay Lakamp - 53 EN noob.
Portland Oregon since 1984. I'm a husband, father of 4, and a critical care RN.
I've done Sprints and Oly's, >30 marathons and one in Ireland, and this will be my 1st. IM.
Goal is to finish with praise on my lips for God and a big smile on my face.

I was born and raise in CdA and coming back home for my first IM and doing it the right way, the "EN-way".
  • Looking forward to meeting you and everyone else next week, Jay! I hope to live in PDX some day, so I'll be asking you and Mike lots of questions...
