Week 6 Extra Curricular....
I know...do what I say, not what I do. But with my lean body focus, I need to do something and as long as the workouts aren't suffering, I continue. Today was 45' trainer ride at .83 for 56 TSS. What was your secret Friday workout?

My goal this OS with my running is to run more frequently so I am doing 5 runs a week now. Not related to a body comp thing but the extra calorie burn is a perk.

I was planning a 45 min zone 1 run to enjoy my first run since the snow came to town. The body feels great after 3 hard days. If I head out now I will still have 24hrs of rest prior to Saturday's workout.
I put the trash out this morning.
Call me a slacker. I can't fathom an extra workout. I so love the rest day.

I'll confess too: I've been riding my mtb on the days off and on the weekends in addition to the OS workouts. It's just so darned fun that I don't want to let it go. 80% of the rides have been "easy" in that I'm not chasing down DH or other boys on dirt bikes. So far it hasn't impacted my ability to execute the OS workout.
My normal Friday is 3000 M swim in the morning with 2 sets of the EN swim book drills. At lunch I usually do about an hour run (or however long I can get away from work) at whatever pace my body feels like. After a hard tue/wed/thur combo this run is almost always around easy pace.
When I feel great I get dumb ideas like to do sundays run on both Friday and Sunday...usually I pay for when the next week comes around... already did that twice this OS.
Rockin' out on the Skier's Edge. I have to remember how to move from side to side.
Fridays are a yoga class at 12:30 geared towards triathletes. About 5-6 of us who all suffer from too much "one-plane" (read: forward) movement and not enough work on other muscles, stretching, core, etc, etc.
All I know is that after last week's focus on Leg Abductors (inner thigh) and Adductors (outer thigh, hips) I think I was more sore than running 15 miles! Hurts so good
9:30 and still in my pajamas sipping coffee. Gonna do intervals between the stores in the mall.
Is it OK to body slam Grandma if she is going for the last sweater and I want it?
cleaned house while listening to IPOD dance music!!!
not sure about caloric burn though! basically turn down the heat... and get aerobic!! with the broom and mop and cleaning rags, windex and the like!! for sho' you will get some SAUs...
when you do the windows, really put your arms into it!! and when you bend over touch your toes when you see dirty spot on floor.... and then do deep knee squats to get the dust bunnies underneath the beds!! and then RUN up the steps and RUN back down.... don't eat either! well okay some fruit! and then run from the bedroom to laundry room with laundry in hand! seriously. m
SKATE SKIING season is here in Bend, Oregon. I live about 10 minutes from an awesome cross-country skiing trail system. I try to go 5-6 days per week for about 2 hours each day. Lots of races coming up! (Still hitting all of the out-season workouts, though!)
Check out this link for one of the most famous finishes in nordic skiing history. Petter Northug probably has the most cardiovascular strength of any human on the planet. He is a BEAST! Truly inspiring!

been using my off days to dial in my practice time on the instrument~guitar~I'm a guitar teacher and jazzer and use out season to make up for lost practice time!! It's a constant juggle between music and training...
Not sure it really qualifies as activity as I am usually hunched over the thing for hours on end. Hey, at least there is no smoldering ash tray next to me!!
(yup, back in the day, that would be me~c'mon, I went to music school~3 items on the budget: strings, coffee and cigarettes!--gross!!)
Was going to do my usual easy run but saw that it was 14 degrees and windy and decided that it was a good day to take off. First day not running in 17 so I figured what the hell. Actually, as I tend to go out and have a beer or two with the boys on Thursday evenings after the kids go to bed Friday's are usually an easy 4-5 mile run more to clear out the cobwebs than anything else. I really do feel lazy any day that I do not run regardless of how far I ride.
Eric: I am truly envious. I have heard such great things about the skiing in Bend. Almost went to a summer ski camp there a few years ago. Good luck with your races, come do the Birkie!!! P.S. can you translate from Norwegian

1,850 in the pool. Trying to lose some weight too, so I use this like P's EZ spin--keeps the engine burning. Swimming is also a mental health activity for me. Love it. Swim with master's, but the coach wants me to tune it down anyway and focus on technique. When anything starts to feel taxing, I use the pull buoy, or buoy and paddles. Keeping it easy so I don't blow the weekend workouts--my priority.

Killer yoga class yesterday..
Way more work than you think. Legs feel like they have been pounded by sledgehammer. Not good on ride today!!
