IMAZ 2011 here I come!

Yes, as much as I dislike the WTC cash-hoarding machine, I've signed up for IMAZ2011. Gotta go back and exorcise the demons (and hopefully no conditions like yesterday).

So, EN-wise, we know several folks that will be there. Starkman, Mr. Ambrose. Y'all got in, right?

Who else?

  • Don't let me lap you on the bike.....

  • Greg V and Officer Ford are in too!

    Lap me? LAP ME?

Like I said on the dashboard, that isn't wheel dust, it's the dust from your old guy farts! Either way, I'm gonna do my best to be in front of you, not behind!

  • I am in also.  Gonna be a great day for EN!

  • Al T is also in. He signed up on Friday. He is such an animal and inspiration.
  • I'm not in. Planning on NYC marathon in 2011 (have a slot I deferred from this year to next).
  • So...Team Young(er) vs Team Old(er)...

    Young(er):
    Me
    Greg
    Steven Ford

    Old(er)
    Starkman
    Ambrose
    Al "The Oracle" Truscott

    Any others?
  • Yes I am in along with a whole mess of my tri club buddies. I am going to a ton of course support

And the first thing I plan on doing, going to weigh my bike with all its gear like race day, then attempt to lose that much weight so I will be basically trying to lose my race bike

  • Also in with Mr. Boyle for the youngster squad.

I'll be 35...not sure if that makes me younger or older

    Definitely younger.

  • I'm in to represent the slower crowd!
  • Woo hoo. I'm in. Not sure I know what I'm getting myself into. Haven't done one but I'm now signed up for two next year. I'm one if the oldsters. ;<)
  • I'm in too! Put me down for Team Younger. My first IM. Super psyched!
  • HA. Ive been missing this whole thread all day long! I turn 33 on Dec 6, so I hope this doesnt compromise movie me from "yummy youngings" to "moldy oldies."

Kind of funny. I was there with my cursor over the "complete registration" button hesitating. Then I looked out the window at the 35mph gust and thought about the -40 windchill here tonight. Yeah, the desert sure sounds nice....

    Mike Davis, young(er) or old(er)?

6 vs 6 right now, with Mike Davis seeming to be the tie-breaker!

  • I have a scoring idea in mind for race day. Old guys versus the young guys. Avg score of young group versus avg score of older group. Scoring based on where each person finishes within their respective age group. Stark and I think the (don't want to use term losing group since there are no losers in IM) runner up group is responsible for buying several rounds of beer, drinks, and finger food appetizers at the post race EN celebration party Sunday night in Tempe.
  • I like your idea Mr. Ambrose, except that some age groups are larger than others (I'm M35-39, which is very large), so there needs to be some sort of 'normalizing' associated. Like a % of age group (like we don't do hard numbers for FTP increases, we do %s, etc).

Is this a bad thing starting all the smack talk and betting THIS early? 363 days left?!?

All I hear is cluck cluck cluck like a scared chicken

  • WOW...he's already taken up the mantle of the old farts by smack-talking the young'ens.

You JUST got moved out of the young(er) camp less than an hour ago! That might be the fastest thing you do for the next 363 days.

  • @Scott - Agree; scoring will incorporate % placing within respective AG. This really going to motivate me. Thinking of putting sign in my pain cave reading something like "don't let up..... Scott will be buying"
