    VDOT: 38

    5k: 24.65,

    pace:8:21

Felt like Chris Farley in running tights. I don't know why they call the little Snickers bars "fun size".

    Dayum.

I'm trying to get a visual, was it Chris Farley as Matt Foley, motivational speaker, or Chris Farley the chippendale with Patrick Swayze?    I know you were hoping for 40.  You'll get it and then some.

    Dave

  • I'm sitting here in my office laughing,  visualizing each, trying to decide which one to choose. No wonder our economy is in the crapper.

Then there's the classic Tommy Boy, in the Marquette Rugby jacket. ....

    Let's go with Matt Foley.

    LMAO.

I'm here in my office watching the youtube vids of both---yep, it's all part of stamping out disease.

The Chippendale vid is more entertaining, but "I live in a van down by the river..." is a better battlecry.

  • Here we go.  First test.

    5k Time: 20:21

    VDot: 48.8

  • My first real test as well, I didn't think I would really be able to push myself alone on the track.   It helped when the HS football team showed up two laps into my test and teased me (kindly) each time I went by their warmups...

    5K time 26:53 (a PR!)

    1mi: 8:21

    2mi: 8:46

    3mi: 8:56

    0.1: 8:25

started out a little too fast and lost it at near the end, I guess that I will get the pacing better as I practice.

  • Test done. That was tough. First time I tested on a treadmill.

    Splits:
    7:22
    7:18
    7:26
    0:44
    =====
    Total: 22:50 for a vDOT of 42.6

Down a bit from a high of 44 in July, but better than I thought I'd do.

    Mike.
  • Jealous of all these numbers... I wasn't able to do the run test this week but I'm looking forward to joining everyone on the next test... still fighting my way back from a major ankle break, although I did actually "run" 3 miles yesterday. I'm guessing my vdot is about 30 right now - plenty of room for improvement

  • Fernando Puente  I am still learning the ropes maybe somebody can guide down the right path.  I was training for IM Arizona but had to pull out due to a heart pacemaker on Oct 2  I have joined the Nov OS group but do not see my profile in the group.  I had a VDOT of 43,6 on 9/22 but had to take a month off, my latest VDOT on 11/4 09 was 40  9/22/09 5k time =22:09, my newest time on 11/4 was 23:45.  I could not complete the bike test this week, but plan to retry next week.

My schedule closed in fast and I didn't get my test done yesterday.  I have been using my VDOT from last summer (49.7) and the efforts seem about right for now.  I 'd rather not sacrifice any of the other wokrouts to get it done and I really wanted to run this test in the VFFs so maybe I'll do it next week.

Good luck with the VFFs. I did this week's 5K in mine and felt good. Definitely enjoying the "faster feet" that come with the new running style. My last 160 miles since 9/21 have been VFF only(max distance 9 miles so far) but mostly at HM and LR paces. It's a little different when you crank up the speed.

I'm up to a max distance of 9 miles, too.  I did a couple train runs this week with them and beat the crap out of my feet.  The trails are around here are rough and covered with leaves so the feet really had to work.  By the end of a 4 mile run, I felt like I had been roling my foot on a trigger ball for hours.

  •    Trail running definitely requires more time to toughen up the bottom of your feet. I've got a 4 mile crosscountry race next weekend and that will be my first nonVFF run since IMWI- mostly because I've just been getting my VFF feet used to asphalt, side walks and indoor banked tracks.
