You should get an email update if you subscribe to the topic or subscribe to the parent folder. That way I get emails on every post and don't necessarily have to check the forums unless I comment. I can read the email just as easy.
Here is an example email I get from the November OS discussion group which I used to be a member. It looks very different than the emails I get from the General Training Discussions forum.

Doesn't look like the regular email updates like below but looks like someone is pushing magic buttons behind the scene now. :-)

I have a regular blender and used to go out into the garage. Now I use the Magic Bullet, my mother inlaw was sleeping on the couch over the holidays and I forgot she was there until after I was done. She didn't here a thing. I don't think it's that quiet and would have woke most people up, but it is not as loud as my blender.
I think it depends on how light a sleeper the person is. It doesn't take much to wake me. . . .
