JOS week 20! Concerned about swim, long rides
Hey JOSers!
So glad to be done with another OS!
Looking forward to 2 "rest" weeks...BUT I am a little freaked, maybe you can coach me off of the cliff.
Been following the OS religiously except I started swimming a few times a week about 1 month ago. Have not done ANY long rides, just OS stuff. I am scheduled for 2 rest weeks than a 12 week build to IMLouisville.
Just concerned about building that type of endurance in a 10 week period with 2 for taper. Thoughts?

I actually started substituting a "long ride" from the HIM plan in for the Saturday JOS ride a few weeks ago...I did 3 in total over the last 4 weeks of the OS (plus hopefully I'll do a fourth this weekend). But my HIM is only 8 weeks out, your IM is 14 weeks away.
So I'd guess you're in great shape particularly if you made it through the whole OS "as prescribed".

10 weeks is a lot of time, for perspective that's 2/12 months to get the endurance. If you have done all the OS workouts you will be fine. You will stil be getting the FTP flavour in the weekly rides and starting to go longer with you new speed.
I'm not sure its correlated but an FTP test can set you up with around 100 TSS times that by 2.75 and that around what you should be expending at IMlou and you've got 2.5 months to get there.
Enjoy the rest weeks and come back ready to go, don't over think it and get caught up trying to do extra and being burnt out in week 8 of the IM plan.
