WKO+ users -- new Device Agent available

For those of you using WKO+ or TP, there is a new versioin of Device Agent (ver 3.0) out that will allow WKO+ to accurately read files from the Garmin 310XT and other devices.  Even if you aren't using TP, the WKO+ folks say that the only way the current version of WKO+ will read the 310XT files accurately is using Device Agent.  When WKO+ Ver 3.0 is released, DA shouldn't be needed (no time table on release date AFAIK).

  • Awesome, thanks Chris. I'm looking forward to checking this out and seeing if it really does work.
  • It works great with the edge 500... but I don't have a 310XT to try it with.
  • Info on web link below talks about TP online.  Would we use this for WKO+ on our local machine?

Nemo, I will let you be the lead guinea pig this time.

Thanks John   Reading a little more on the links provided, it does seem this also is supposed to work with WKO+ on the local machine.  With any luck, I'll be able to ride tomorrow for the first time in a looooong time and I'll record data on the Garmin 310XT as well as the little yellow computer so I can get a comparison.  Can't promise to be nearly as thorough as you though!

Yes, The new device agent allow you to either send the file directly to training peaks online, save it locally or both.  When you save it locally you can just drag and drop it into WKO+.

  • And you probably know this by now, but WKO+ Ver 3.0 is out now too.  DA is an integrated part of it.

If you have updated and are not using Build 42, be aware that there was a bug in the TSS calculation in prior builds, so update.

Also be aware that rTSS is not calculating properly on the 310XT (and maybe other GPS units) if you use DA, so import your GTC file into the WKO the old way from GTC.

    Cheers!

  • Based on your last comment, Chris, I'm wondering if it's worth updating the version. Would you say it is a good idea to still do it?

Well, I upgraded and I import my 310XT files the old way exporting them into a folder from Garmin Training Center and it appears to work fine.  That said, the biggest different from WKO 2.2 to 3.0 are some new ways to analyze your power files with Quadrant Analysis and a Scatter Graph.  You can also do multifile analysis which is pretty cool AND you can run 3.0 on two PCs without getting an additional license like you had to with 2.2.  FWIW, 2.2 and 3.0 can run side by side so you aren't losing anything if you upgrade.

    Here's a line for what's new in 3.0:

I've been planning with 3.0 as well and I like the multi-file analysis.  I pulled up my 2 race simulations and actual race from last year and it was pretty cool to have the graphs on top of each other and all the data right there and available.

I don't understand the Quadrant and Scatter graphs well enough yet to actually use them for anything, but I'm sure we'll figure out how to use them someday.
