All Call to Adv and Beg OS Peeps
Hi All!
What is your main set in the bike workout today? Int is 2x14 @ FT.
In my two other OSs, the Sat ride in week 9 during the 30/30 phase was 1x15. This is essentially double. I'm game, but knowing there have been a few errors along the way in the plans, I just wanted to get a read on what others are doing.
Thanks!

Linda,
I just crawled off the treadmill after my 2X18 @ FTP, 2X (1X4) @ 110%, 2X15 a@ 85%, Then the drreaded MP out, HMP back 30 min. run. I'm doing the adv. plan and that's what mine called for and yes I barely made it through.
Holy crap, Trent! I completely missed the 2x4' @ Z5 that we also have!!!! Whoa. This is quite a morning.
Thanks for the reply. Seems it's a huge sufferfest. Not sure I'll get the run in with the weather here, but I can't say I'm sorry about that.
In my lurking I just stumbled on this thread. I'm in the Oct OS and when these workouts showed up on my plan I started to really struggle. For one thing, that first week they showed up I had planned for the standard 1:15 duration ride based on what I'd read ahead in the plan. When I looked to confirm what was on the schedule things were so different. In fact, I almost always had to cut my runs after those rides. They are a lot longer if you also include W/U and the full 85% efforts. I think I saw R advise someone in the feedback thread to cut the w/u and those 85% intervals if necessary. I tried that and still struggled with the runs. My lesson is that I needed some serious before and durng workout nutrition during those. I felt like a wimp for struggling....
It makes me feel better that you're calling it out.
Those 4 minute things (which change to 3 min then 2 min in the coming weeks) are flipping hard!

Glad I posted this, and it gives me food for thought. Re dropping down Nemo, you certainly can, but one can always modify the workouts to suit. Like we did in year one, remember....
Olivia--Thanks for posting Rich's modifcations. That really helps a lot. As for you, no need to feel anything like a wimp. In the first OS, when the team was a lot smaller, there was a point in time where virtually everyone was crying uncle. Crumpling to the point that the whole team modified the workouts. No harm there. This is exactly the place where RnP will warn you to work hard, but not run the plan into a wall. Training is not a straight line. Just because the plan says do to x in a perfect world, sometimes the body needs to do x-y. Then you rebound stronger, and x is no longer a problem!
Hi, just finished shoveling wave 1 and am procrastinating getting on the bike. I've been dreading this workout since I saw it earlier in the week. The work sets with rest and 85% alone equal 90 minutes!
Funny thing is, if I was outside, this would be no big deal (or less of a big deal
)
Olivia, I'm glad you chimed in. This is all good discussion. Work is work, but brick walls hurt.

On the plus side. Even with my modifications (read: lack of completing the full run portion of those bricks) my PMC showed a nice bump in my ATL thanks to that work. BUT I DID have to take an extra day off to accommodate that. Had to; for mental and physcial balancing....I was starting to doubt whether I could hang and whether my body could actually do the work. (I think I'm back on track now.)
Let us know how you all go with this and what your strategies are for handling these sessions...nutrition, splitting them up... whatevery you find that works...I'm interested to know what we collectively determine is the best approach.
@Halligan - you're right 90 minutes outside is no problem. I rode Friday when it was 28deg out for about that long and the time flew by. 1:10 in the cave yesterday and it seemed like I was there all day.
