Steve Cogger Denver Colorado 33 Married to Cassia and we have and incredible 2.5 year old daughter. I did IMCDA in 2009 and am training for IMLP 2010. Hills are my weakness right now, so I figured I would tackle them head on by signing up for Lake Placid. Last years training was all long and slow, and it showed on the course. I was out there a long time and I went pretty slow. Looking forward to working with Team EN to get my fast back. Only one week into the OS and I am already sore.
Heather La Freniere, 40 (gulp) years stiff, I mean young, Evanston, IL
Fully employed in the finance industry, 3 very busy children, ages 10, 7 and 4. Married to Mike, fellow tri-nut and founder of Chicago Endurance Sports. On top of that, the sucker qualified for Kona on his first attempt, hard act to follow!!
First IM experience was IM-MOO 2008, 11'38, 20 minutes off an age group slot. Goal for 2010: IM-Moo again and want to pick up 30 minutes as my 'new' age group is smaller and hence there is one less slot, only 3. There it's out there and public, no shame in wanting that slot, right???! Need help on the bike, I live in Flatlandia.

Awesome! What is your A race for 2010? Where do you train? With whom? This is my first experience with EN, I need some serious power on the bike, history is swimmer/runner, hate the bike hence I have historically avoided it, can't do that anymore! I tend to be a lone trainer as my work/family schedule makes it hard to find partners at the right time. I swim at the Y, usually early in the morning. Thanks for the note.

Welcome Heather, we have a number of EN members in the greater Chicago area and it appears we have grown even more this year.
I assume that RnP are going to have a marathon relay challenge again this year after Thanksgiving. Last year we all met up, ran together and then got lunch... I'm hoping to do the same this year.
BTW, forget about the hills at IMWI. EN will teach you how to ride the course to get the most out of the power you have an still have a great run. I train in the flat lands of the midwest as well. Just follow the OS plan and get strong, the rest will work it's self out.
Thanks for the welcome and I do hope there is a post Thanksgiving event, what fun! I will be at Turkey Trot for sure. Now that I've kind of figured out these forums - this is kinda fun! I ran the Hot Chocolate 15k last weekend and it's killing me in trying to get my tests done, my recovery has been way longer than I ever expected. Frustrating! Look forward to meeting more Chi-town athletes!

Hi All! Better late than never. My name is Cheryl Scigousky. I am married and live in Glen Ellyn, Il with our 4 children. 14, 13, 11, 10. I work as well and love to be busy. Oh yeah, I am 42 (YUCK).
I am racing Ironman Lake Placid this coming year. And, yes, I am putting it out here that I am going to Lake Placid to qualify for Kona.
My previous Ironman racing consists of 2004 Wisconsin, 2005 Lake Placid, broke my leg in 2006, 2007 Wisconsin, and 2008 Hawaii. I took 2009 as an off year and am ready to go.
I rode with Matt Ancona this summer and he raved about the program! Ok, I cried on the back of Matt's wheel all summer.

Looking forward to a fun season.
Cheryl and her husband Tony, rode with me most Sunday's last year. They put aside their racing and training schedule and did my ABP ride with me at my zones to help me get ready fo IMWI and get my Kona spot.
I can't wait to get out and ride with them again next summer and help Cheryl get her slot.
Hey Cheryl, you and I are IL age group mates (40-44 F) going for a slot, you at LP, me at MOO. Good luck, tough bunch of women we are up against . You need to watch out for Kate Dewey of St. Louis. She was 11'20ish this past year. Can't swim but man can she ride, oh and run too.
Look forward to the OS in the cold IL winter with you and others, I'm a newbie to da Haus. Are you and Mancona pals with Naperville resident Pete York by any chance???
Hi Heather, No, I don't know Pete. Not sure if Matt does. Yes, there are fast girls out there. IM Wisconsin will most likely have Michelle Lanouette. She usually goes around 10:50 in Madison. The only reason I won the age group in '07 was because she was racing Kona that year. Where do you live?
I live in Evanston, know Pete from work and since it's kind of a small tri-world, thought it was worth the ask. Anyway, girl!! who does 10'50 at our age??!?!?! these women kill me! Jobs, kids, and all that goes with it, who can rip off a time like that? I'm clearly not bitter nor jealous....Look forward to bumping into you one of these days. My only real local races planned are: Turkey Trot at the zoo (of course) and the Rockman half next June in Rockford. Nothing else on the schedule but I'm sure I'll throw something in, maybe the WI half marathon? It's the first weekend of May in Kenosha and the next day is a long hilly ride nearby to support some sort of animal shelter, nice big brick weekend, thinking about it....Cheers.
Hi Cheryl and Heather, enjoying reading your posts here and then started cracking up at the names you mentioned so far. My year had me crossing paths with Kate Dewey and Michelle L. I raced LP and think Kate was 5th in AG and I was 6th. Michelle I met at IronPrayer in Hawaii in Oct. We both happened to be sitting next to eachother and prayed over eachother at the end. She was racing HI and I was cheering for my husband.
Wishing you both a great year of training. This EN training will be the best thing you can do to reach your goals this year. So glad to have you in the haus!!!
Heather,Yes, old girls are fast. I think it is because we have so much going on in our lives, we don't have time to be slowI raced Rockman last year. Did you? Went off course on run, not well marked.
Carrie, small world. I have known Michelle since 2004. Always have liked her.
Married to Lee Ann, 4+ years (second time's the charm!). No kids that I am aware of...but have 3 of the fuzzy persuasion (2 cats, 1 dog)
Food Service Professional who travels way too much up and down the west coast
2nd year in da Haus. Strangely enuff enjoying the first two weeks of the OS
Kind of a tri-newbie despite being here last year. Longest event so far are sprints. Was on track to do Lake Stevens 70.3 last year and pulled up with a leg injury. All better and I'm ready to go.
A race: ChelanMan HIM
Looking forward to my first ToC in May and meeting some of the more famous members of da Haus!
I guess better late than never to introduce myself to November OS Group
Rich Miller aka Cyclingmaniac
Married 24 years to my best friend Cecile Marie Sylvie Lavoie Miller. We have a 6' 2" (wonderful) son who will be graduating from high school (June 2010). Mental picture: He is 6'2" and I'm 5' 8". ( I swear it was the prenatal vitamins my wife was taking!)
Although a Charter Member, this will be my first year to take advantage of the OS training plan and groups.
I am a Type II Diabetic and have another health issue that is currently in remission. ( I will not let these limitors prevent me from participating and competing in triathlons.)
I started participating in triathlons about 5 seasons ago as a lifestyle to help address health issues. I have competed in over 40 triathlons at all distances. A couple of podium finishes in smaller venues. I started with Sprints, followed by Olympic, Half and finally IM distances to test limits due to diabetes. (There are some challenges related to nutrition and glycogen reproduction.)
Completed my first (and only so far) ironman distance race at Ironman Arizona in 2008. Didn't get advantage of a full season of training. Had open shoulder surgery (right shoulder) in February 2008, back in water by July and completed IMAZ in Nov. 2008.

A Race for 2010: Ironman Arizona 2010
I train with heart rate (i.e. don't have the PT set up......although Coach Rich has been at me......it is a technology thing/financial thing.)
Swimming was my weakness given that I had no previous swimming experience. After a swim clinic taught by our one and only Coach Rich and taking his Master's Swim class that he taught, I can do OK. I took a second swim clinic for purposes of a tune up on my technique and saw huge improvements. I find a nice easy pace and get the job done. Remember the purpose of the swim is to get you to the bike.
Cycling has room for improvement in speed. Being somewhat weight challenged, hills are my nemosis! I will be paying a lot of attention to the cycling.
Running is probably my weakness. I'll be looking for improvement in this discipline. The training will help, but when we look at the ROI, I think I'll get the biggest payoff by having a cycling focus during IM focused training. I can be talked out of this point of view.
So looking forward to going through the OS program.
Mark DeMello age 48. Second year in the house. Yes Jeromiah I did week one and yes dave Corso I am doing week two. Just crazy at work. Better late then never for sure.I need to start posting again
