Congrats to everyone who took part in the challenge. Wow, some of you have been putting in some crazy miles. My final point total was quite modest compared to many others.
I decided to drop all bike workouts over the holidays and I'm happy I did so. I saved myself a lot of mental effort and SAUs by not having to cram bike workouts around family events and social obligations.
Some of you are getting ready for JOS while myself and a few others are into week 10 of NOS and doing VO2 & FTP bike workouts on top of all this running.
I finished up today with a simple 5 mile DM brick run (following 3x15 on the bike and 2 back-to-back half mary's).
Stats for the week: 58.5 miles run, 8 above TP 5 miles x-c skiing
current team place: 3 current indivvidual place: 5 but I expect others to post more miles and bump me down a bit.
Nice work everyone! It was fun to pound the miles in and still hit my FTP intervals!
Ran 24K+ yesterday to celebrate our 24th anniversary! I have had some great quality time with my family on the roads. I ran with my daughters and wife for most of the run challenge. My oldest daughter was scheduled for 3 miles of 60/60's with 60 seconds at mile pace and 60 seconds at 10K pace. Well I learned that sometimes you just have to give it a try and see how you run, and not rely on how you feel. We averaged 6:19 pace, well under my 6:33 threshold. Not bad! Finished out with my middle daughter and averaged 8:10 for 15 miles. I'm ready for JOS!
Holy cow! You are all animals! Way to go everyone! Following you guys was so fun to watch! Well done everyone!
As you reward for accomplishment, add this very cool 2012 Holiday Run Challenge badge to your sig line here and a nifty video from Coach Patrick on how to add to your sig line here.
@ John Stark - thanks again for putting these together. They are really fun to push ourselves with our friends and I appreciate all of the setup and scoring that you do. Happy New Year.
