  • Just dropping a note to wish you all good luck this weekend! I'm really looking forward to reading your race reports and learning more about the race. Have fun out there and be safe!
  • best of luck to all you Tahoolagins.     be safe.    be smart.    have fun.
  • Just looked at the weather for tomorrow.... 36* at 7AM, warming to a high of 59*.

Hope everyone can either tolerate the chilly weather or has gloves, arm-warmers and jackets!

Best of luck to all - have a great race!
  • Anyone know what the water temps are? BRRRRRR that's awefully cold air temps!
  • Wow showing 29 degrees at 7am .... The swim will be warm compared to the first several hours of the bike.... This would be my worst nightmare.... Its all about making all the right choices to survive the day!!!
  • wow.

I recall reading something that 'they' were very concerned about the swim. An IM swim is already so stressful. Throw in altitude and now these cold temps.....'o boy. Gonna be a shock to the system even for those that come fit and prepared. But, for those athletes who are showing up hoping (instead of knowing) that they've done the work, I hope it isn't as rough as feared.

    Take it ez peeps.

Very cool to get this done. qualifies as EPIC.
  • All right Team. Here's hoping one and all has a great EPIC race!
  • Okay, the water temp is supposed to be 70 degrees. So I'm guessing it will be getting dry in T1that will be the key here. Hope everyone has a safe and successful day.
  • Good luck Team!!!!!! Watching live and cheering you on from Canada image
  • PS- you know who hates the cold almost as much as me? Coach Rich! I bet he's huddled in front of a fireplace at a Starbucks right now!
  • Al, Chris , and Steve sub 10min T1's...... never thought I would say this but on a day like today that is fast! I'd still be warming up!
  • Trevor over 23mph on his second bike split.... wonder what that wind chill is?

I believe the water temp was in the upper-50's not 70.

    Yikes, that's a huge difference!

  • Still way warmer than the air. :-)
  • Wow, that bike from mile 40-44 is no joke---looks like EN'ers are averaging about 5 mph.......ouch!!! climb, climb, climb, but don't tip over!!
  • I was just looking at that, Keith. O.M.G!!! I can't wait for folks to report on just that one section. Steep grade and altitude? And cold??? Wow.
  • Does anyone know how Jennifer Eckert doing? She came out first in her age group, but the tracker shows only the first split. I hope she is doing okay.
  • The 1st place guy in Al's AG swam a 45'. Nice improvement from his 1:46 and 1:34 at IMCDA and IMAZ in '12 and '11.

    Oh...... My...... God!
  • Just checking in and some nice swim times from the EN'ers.  Keep it going and stay warm in the early part of the bike.
  • Martin and Jennifer - no bike splits. Anyone if they are okay.
  • Looks to me like Martin is still moving forward with 2 bike splits. He spent a long time in T1 so he's a liittle farther back than the others. But I'm not so sure about Jennifer. Just that first split.
  • I hope she did not suffer from hypothermia like Jess Withrow did at IMLP this year.
  • Hey everyone, I'm ok, but my day is done! The swim was cold in the shallows. But warmer the deeper it got, a little chop but not bad, it was much colder out of the water. Ice on tires and bento box frozen in transition! I felt good heading out but got colder and colder past squaw... Lets just say the cold made it difficult to get stuff out of your bento.. I veered a bit hit the edge of road and dirt and being so cold reaction time wasn't great... Went down hard... Result, fx left distal end clavicle..no. Displaced, no surgery required, nice raspberries to left cheek and chin, chest wall contused, major suckfest! Thanks for looking in on me... ??
  • Jennifer - so sorry to hear. Heal quickly.
  • Oh gosh Jennifer. I sent you a private message. Just ignore now. Sorry to hear, but am glad that you are okay.
  • Jennifer that just sucks. It's totally ok to get really mad about it too. I hope you recover quickly.
  • Jennifer, good to hear that you are ok.  Hope you have a quick recovery.

You can see Carol and Turby on the live camera outside of T2 and someone else in an EN jacket.  Several EN peeps should be starting the run in a little bit based on the tracker.

  • So sorry to hear Jennifer. Sounds like motivation for the next one...
