  • Just saw an EN singlet at 13:59:40 who was it?
  • WOW...looks like the bike must have been brutal! Only 4 people broke 9 hours! I just sorted the AG results and had Steve in 4th and Carrie in 8th. As best I can tell Steve had the fastest run in his AG...mighty impressive! Looks like Carrie was one of only 5 or 6 women in her AG to crack 4 hours...which I might add is AWESOME! Oh yeah...and she outran at least a couple of the pro women...that is the ones that actually got off the bike course! I'm glad I live so far north...easy excuse to never do this race. Congrats to everyone that toed the line...you guys are awesome.
  • Very cool - just saw Olivia cross!!!
  • I just saw an EN chica come across at about 14:03!
  • It was either SHeryl or Olivia. I couldn't hear the name but I saw her cross and she started crying with joy! So awesome!!!
  • Olivia looked great!
  • Confirmed, It was Olivia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Olivia! Olivia! Olivia! (Screaming in the living room.)

  • Holy cow, a guy just crossed the finish line all bandaged up. They said he has a broken collar bone from an accident on the bike. YIKES! That's amazing!
  • Looking like it was David Ellison i saw cross at 13:59
  •  How did I miss Olivia? I have had my eyes glued. Congrats O!

Nemo- banged up dude crashed on bike, broken collar bone in 3 places( how they know without xray beats me) anyway, thats gotta hurt

  • I'm hoping to see Sheryl finish before I have to put my head on the pillow! She should be REALLY close!
  • Wow, everyone seems to have done a great job. Wish I would have had time to watch it earlier. Its inspiring to watch everyone finish! Can't wait for IMCDA.
  • Well, it's midnight here on the east coast. Waaaaaaaaaaaay past my bedtime so I have to call it a night! Time for you west coast peeps to pick up the ball and keep us rolling!

Best of luck to all the peeps still out on the course! I'll be checking in when I wake back up in the morning!
  • Just saw sheryl finish
  • Dang...how did I miss Sheryl? GO TEAM!!! Lots of folks still out there!
  • I think I saw her -- she wasn't wearing an EN kit.

  • Sheryl was in a yellow long sleeve shirt. Poor Nemo probably missed seeing her finish by 30 seconds.

  • Wei Lu, Tom Brasher, and Susan Dederen look like they're all past the 20 mile mark. Tom and Susan seem to be holding pretty steady...Wei seems to be slowing down. Hang in there folks...you can make it!
  • Tom just finished!15:50
  • Wei just finished, 15:53 Looked good! Awesome!
  • Just checking in after a very long day. Heard the water was near 54 and lots of people pulled from the water. Bike course was hilly tough. Lots of people missed the bike cutoff. Hilly torture does not begin to describe the run course. My guess 75% will walk great portions of it. I shuffled up all the hills and, at the beginning, flew downhill. In the end, just shuffled downhill too. Quads will be sore for months!

More later on a very tough course.

    Tom
  • I missed Tom, but saw Wei. He looked tired but happy! Way to go Wei...congratulations!!!
  • Congratulations Tom...nice job getting it done on a really tough course! Way to go!
  • Way to go Tom, Congrats!

Let's get everyone out there home soon!
  • There goes Susan...I think that's everyone! Way to go Susan...congratulations! Good night all! Great job! Way to represent!
  • Hi Team EN!

Thanks for all your well wishes and watching us online.

A dear friend of mine had to be rescued from the water 400 yards from the finish with severe hypothermia. He took the boat in and the thermometer for the water was fluctuating between 53 and 55. We have no business swimming it that temp. In my non important opinion they should have shortened the swim or cancelled it. Cold and hypothermic in T1, hands useless, someone had to fully dress me, I could not walk straight and they were not going to let me bike because I could not get clipped in. I somehow willed my foot to click in a wobbled down the road. I remember very little of the first hour of the bike. I did not drink or eat that first hour as I was just shivering and breathing very fast.

I feel so bad for the folks who did not get to finish or who struggled more than I did. Once I warmed up I was ok, but I was pretty worn out from the trauma of the cold and had to dial back my bike intensity.

I thought of you all while racing and you got me through some dark places.

At Iron Prayer we talked about never saying "I can't". And to just try one more step or peddle stroke or swim stroke. OMG did I use that all day.

Matt's call to Rich thinking I was 3rd was cool for a moment and I am sure it pushed me to dig deeper the last 3 miles and subsequently break 4 hours, so thanks Rich and Matt.

Also on the run I was behind a 27 year old girl for atleast 15 miles. I caught her at mile 24.5 and called out her name from the bib and said let's go Leslie. She says" look, I am not going to fight it out with you". I am like: What?? I am 41, we are not in the same AG. She says OMG, this whole time you were behind me I thought you were my age!! Woo Hoo someone thinks I am in my 20's. HA!!

    XO Carrie
  • Carrie,

Thanks for the brief race report. I wondered why your T1 time was relatively slow; now we know. Well done on a tough day and a tough course.
  • Thanks for checking in and watching team! It was great seeing all the ENers out there supporting each other. I will write a race report in the near future (probably not until after I get back to the east coast next Saturday). The short story is I knew it wasn't going to be my day when I got on the bike, my goal watt was 175 and if I tried to ride more then 158 ish my legs would feel tired so I dialed it back and just went with it. The first 9-10 miles of the run was pretty good probably the best I have ever felt. But after that I got really pukey and if I tried to walk even a little hard I would feel like I was going to puke. Spend miles 10-14 trying to fix the problem by trying different thing and nothing was working. At mile 14ish Rich told me that bag of peanut m&m was going to help and I should just stop eating and let it work it self out, so I got rid of the m&ms and got going again. Mile 14-22 was just working, not drinking or eating and trying not to puke. At mile 22 I decided I had nothing to lose to I drank the ensure that I had from special needs bag and hoped for the best ( so Patrick I know you are not a fan of the but I felt like I had no choice). Well, it sort of worked; I puked around mile 22.5 ( drank about 2/3 and maybe 1/5 came back out) and I was able to run the last 3 miles at a pretty good clip. Even go about 30 road kills image. Any way the good news is I think the EN way is great, the bad news is maybe I am just not made for long distance tri. Anyway, thanks again for the support.
    Wei
ps Tom Glynn, what are you talking about shuffled up the hills? You always looked like you were crushing it when I saw you.
Pss Carrie, yeah a buddy of mine from maryland also had to be pulled because he was hanging on a boat and could not answer any basic questions. Actually he doesn't even remember what questions they asked. He tried to keep going but they pulled him out. Scary stuff! I hope your friend is ok.
