I'm not so much upset about the "Kona" only kit. What I am curious is why isn't there an effort to stock the "Regular" store. Is there a secret to getting a Bike jersey or Tri kit? Is it a once a year stock or something? Seems like you have to be an XS or and XL from what is available in the store.

Hey Alvin,
Next time I see you, happy to discuss the difficulties we've had with gear, fulfillment, etc over the last few months, the challenges of providing gear to a virtual vs local tri club, etc. That is, 800 EN members can't show up at the next club meeting to tri on a fit kit and then meet Joe in the parking lot of the Rose Bowl to pick up their order , and every one of these manufacturers has an 8-12wk timeline from the time an order is placed to when we receive it.
PnI have been talking with several entities and doing lots of math to create a solution for the Team. But understand that if we were to place an order tomorrow, we wouldn't get that stuff until early September at the earliest. Such long lead times make this part of our gig very difficult to manage and a PITA, frankly.
That said, you're welcome to borrow my singlet for IMMT. We can figure out a hand-off easily, considering you live about a mile from me
Yeah ... the local tri club I ride with on Saturday's has been trying to get a kit done since February ... they just had a happy hour this week to try on the 'fit kit' so they can place orders that may, or may not, arrive in time for their races later this year ... so for now they are all wearing kits from the local triathlon shop who also do one design a year because the lead time is ridiculous ... they buy thousands in gear from all the big tri apparel manufactures (LG, Zoot, Castelli) so if they can't get better lead times no one can. The PITA factor is huge on these deals.
On the "Kona only" thing, I think they earned it ...
Sorry to have highjacked this thread or turned things upside down. It wasn't my intention. After being a member for many years, I had the confidence to voice my first reaction at a strange idea in a thread about another idea. Had I not believed in the EN community and that this is a safe environment for expression, I would not have voiced my gut reaction.
My reaction was also probably colored because I was vaguely aware of a 2015 Kona Team Kit because I was approached by Juan to potentially sponsor said kit. Now seems that those ideas are morphing and changing and co-mingling.
My thinking was if this had a an impact on the community, we should try understand the implication.
I am happy to discuss further if another thread started about it specifically.
I wear a large LG bib short and a large LG Tri short and Medium LG bike and Tri top; So what size tri suit should I get? 5'10" and 155
I'm similar size, have no experience with the kit, am not able to try it on, have checked the sizing chart, am ordering a medium because I'd rather it be too tight vs too loose.
For everyone else, Jeremy has picked up a very, very big, friction-filled ball trying to get this done in time for IMWI, his race and the one by which he's trying to make this happen. In the vernacular of my former life, you have about half a heart beat to decide if you want it, what size you are, and there are no refunds or exchanges on your purchase, other than working something out with another EN member.
Alvin and others wondering about existing EN kit, yes, we usually do one big order a year and are working to improve upon that. Given the size of EN (vs your local tri club), I am sure you can appreciate the challenges with it -- not just the order logistics -- since 2013 we have had to open a five-figure line of credit simply to be able to afford the gear.
As Rich noted, being able to supply more of an on-demand gear experience -- I.E. "I didn't order that jacked in Feb when everyone was told to, but now I am at the Placid Camp I want one in July" -- is a process in the works. What works with Amazon doesn't automatically work with EN. We have to balance ^that^ work with the fact that we are still coaching / leading 800 folks, building resources, etc.
I super appreciate the feedback and please know we are working to get better at providing a wider range of gear, of better quality, in a more on-demand fashion...but since we are the only Team in existence that's ever tried to do this, it's taking a bit of effort.
Trish, anyone else are you in? 2 more and the price drops $40.
What I need from the commits :
1) your email address
2) a check (or paypal transfer) from you next week (facilitated next week via email) for about $200 when I make the deposit. We'll cover the balance later.
3) confirmation if you would like a chance to try on the 'fit kit'. basically a stock sample of sizes...they will be sent to the group. No cost other than your commitment to try on within 1-2 days and cover the one way shipping cost to the next person.
4) To the extent possible recruit four more people so the prices hit the next bracket.
Robert, I tested the Garneau M-2 suit in a size small at ERO (it was the fastest config for me, by the way), at 5' 11" ~160lbs ... knowing I would drop weight to 150 by race time. It was perfect for me at the weight I was truckin' at testing time.
@ Dave. What size EN LG kits have you been wearing? Also was it tight pulling shoulders to crotch?
That's the thing ... I haven't been racing in EN / LG kits in the past (see P's note). I get picky about these things, so instead, I had been using a Desoto cooling jersey that I customized with EN logos. Sorry ... heat management trumped wearing the colours!
On the bike, the LG M2 was tight where it should have been - shoulders, arms and back - but there is a surprising amount of stretch to the material, so there wasn't a restrictive feeling in the chest (I did experience this with the octane, though). I made a decision about the "too tall / pull while standing" issue, because I was concerned about making my already hunched-over running posture even more hunched ... and will do the run with the top of the suit completely undone, flapping around my waist, but wearing the man-bra cropped EN top that I describe above (this is about utility as well ... I really prefer a bare core and as little coverage as possible while running, so this gets at it.) This obviates any issue of pulling in the crotch / having too short a suit to run properly.
If you want an idea of what I'm talking about, see this pic of Liz Blatchford, then substitute a middle-age dude with a beard.
On the LG link that Jeremy supplied, the only review was from someone who was 5'11'' and 158 and he was wearing a small. This made me think a small would be best for me but I wear large short and med top in the other LG stuff. I guess its fit kit to be sure
Robert - I usually race in tri bottom / ss cycling jersey ... the orca 226 kompress is a perfect fit and i like the pad. On the LG bottom, the leg length was a little shorter so it either pulled the shorts down a bit or the leg material seemed to bunch up ... the cuff didn't seem to want to sit on my leg where it needed to. The top was a bit loose through the waist for me but I prefer a relatively tight fit. FWIW, I'm 5'10, 145# and I was M/M top/bottom.
Comments
@Jeremy -- thanks for picking up the ball to organize this vs the one-off solutions that people have been self-rolling for a while!
@Matt -- does this mean you'll be racing IMWI in Zoot or EN kit?

I found this thread on the forum that shall not be named. Maybe you can get additional feedback there from people using the kit?

6' & 158#... any suggestions?
I'm in, how much and where do I order?
nevermind, found it.
Ralph, see above a few posts for instructions
Jeremy, this is all about an order for a one piece tri-suit, vs a long/short sleeve tri-top, correct? See Robin's post above.
