  • made my request to join the MFP group
  • @ Francs the Smart Body Analyzer - mostly loving the auto sync so far...

  • I requested to join the MFP group.  username swbrunel     Couldn't find it searching but did find it through your link.

  • I'm so excited about this! I agree about keeping the chats in the forum. Easier to track everything! Requested to be approved in the group but I am not sure if I got accepted- is there a way to check?

  • I joined the MFP group a few days ago. Maybe a naïve question, but how does it work? Does it show a leaderboard somewhere? Or feed info about who is logging and who isn't? Just curious as to what the group functionality is.
  • @ Matt, Laura and Stephan I believe all three of you are approved and in. Outside of the forums (which I think we are agreeing to keep in EN ?) one of the best uses I see is it makes it easy for us to friend each other up which THEN adds activity to your feed.  You can navigate to the friends list and just add, add away.  Any other insights from other users?  Input from Dino?

  • AWESOME!! Thanks Jenn!!

So question for the team- last year our threads had core/strength and body comp together....do we want to do the same this year?? I am writing out our first core thread and was just wondering if  I should include the body comp information too??

P.S.  ITS HERE!!!! NOS has ARRIVED!!!

  • Hmmm I cannot find the Endurance Nation group on MFP when I search for it.  Can you manually add me to it?  My ID is JKryvicky

Found it! Request sent, ID is JKryvicky

  • Happy Monday! All requests I see to date are approved as of 8:15 PST including Jenniferlyn Kryvicky.  Let's go forth and be AWESOME!

  • Tcatfit - just sent the request to join - thx
  • Well, one good thing. I weighed in for this week. Down  1 pound. Let's hear it for food awareness.

Looking back. It would appear that I have not been eating enough calories. Coming in at about 900 per day. I eat a LOT of veggies and fruit. Thought I was eating too much. I'm finding it difficult to eat more. Hello 3 snacks a day.

    Have a great day everyone!

  • @Jacklyn, I'm with you. The very fact that I have myfitnesspal tracking everything, and tracking weight is causing me to think every time I'm a little hungry (avoid the urge to snack) and every time I want to eat for sport. +1 for "Food Awareness"
  • MFP! glad to hear we're using it!!

I was able to create an "Endurance Nation" group in my fitness pal easy enough. Anyone want to try to join and see if it works for us? I kept it set to private which would keep the lurkers out but requires someone to accept members…

Jenn, I can't find the group... can you help me navigate? or just add me username: tspinner21

    Thanks!!

WOO HOO!! I found it and requested entry

  • So,
This thread has become mostly about My Fitness Pal but I have questions about TrainingPeaks: I have imported all of my workouts for the past 3 years, Where are the functions that help you analyze the data? are those in WKO? Also,do I need to set RnP as my coaches? and if so, how? I have all of my workout data on my Mac for my use but I thought that the purpose of TP was to get accountability and oversight from the coaches. Do we have a framework for that? Or am I just being impatient? image

BTW, I signed up for the MFP group too.
  • Ralph,

Click on the workout, which opens a new box.  On the left column, second icon down is a graph. Click on that to change the view to a chart.  In the upper right, click on the Expand button.  That should provide you with all of the metrics and tools you are looking for.

    Hope this helps.

    Brad

  • @Ralph, to my knowledge, the Coaches are not going to be looking at each workout we log in Training Peaks and providing feedback if that’s what you are asking. I think the idea behind encouraging the use of Training Peaks is that the Coaches are really trying to get us to do a better job of tracking all of our workouts. The result is that we can do a better job building our fitness at different points throughout the season, managing fatigue, and analyzing our training data to prepare for races. This makes us smarter, better athletes. Training Peaks has a lot of features to help with this that Garmin Connect, Strava and other platforms just don’t have. An additional benefit of TP is that it integrates with My Fitness Pal so we can add another metric to track and help us figure things out.
  • I am new to both TP and MFP and have a couple questions on the use of the programs. I can throw the questions in this thread or I could create a separate Q/A thread for each program where people can post their questions or tips for each one. What do you all think?
  • Hi Folks:

Do we have a tracking spreadsheet or whatever up yet?  Just curious as I don't see anything in this thread.

    Thanks.

    ~ Stark

  • @Doug I like the idea of a separate TP thread.  I think that will take on a life of its own.

@Doug TP's feature with the auto import from MFP is a big deal! it's just another realization of how much we put in and give out... man accountability hurts sometimes! But, just makes us much better athletes!

  • @John S.    Here is a link to the Core and Swim prep tracking spreadsheet, if that is what you were asking for.

  • @Doug - Thanks. I have always followed my data but I do it on my Mac using a program that works kind of like TP but it is called Rubitrack. I saw the post about signing up for TP and signed up because everyone was doing it. It looks like I will get the opportunity to do some side by side comparisons of the training stress metrics.
  • Ok...I'm in.  I have been using Sparkpeople for 9 years an have a super big trophy for all my gajillions of points.  Super easy to log food and workouts.  But for da haus, I'll make the switch- for awhile!!  Pls accept my request to join (afdrmom)

    Couple questions-

    1) I checked out the Withings Scale.  Looks like it does what my Tanita does, except Tanita doesn't send it to my phone.  Since it takes about 5 nanoseconds to manually enter data to Sparkpeople (MFP now), I don't think I need this.  But- I have noticed that it measures my body fat at about 6 points higher than Bod Pod (fully body air displacement) and calipers.  Annoying, but since it varies with fluid intake, amount of poop, etc, I don't really pay much attention.  Does the Withings have this issue?

    2) Training Peaks- would love to see a thread or Wiki on just how to use this to tweak training.  I have been using it for about two years to sched and track my workouts- I copy the EN WKOs to the days I want to do them and then compare how close I came. And then marvel at my numbers and the jillions of stats.  But I have no idea how to use the data to make changes to upcoming WKOs based on fatigue or stress or anything else.  Other than ogling my numbers, I'm not really sure what to do with my data.

  • @ Leslie, there is a lot of information in blog and webinars on the Training Peaks site. This is one webinar that I found really useful for understanding the performance management chart https://youtu.be/7SFuG0KJuN8, but there are lots more out there. Take a look at this and ask questions in the training forums. There are lots of folks here who have been using Training Peaks for a long time.
