It was without question that I would bring Patrick home to our house until he was ready for the flight home. Like any new adventure comes a level of anxiety but together P and I worked through that and have problem solved every challenge: from car transfers, to bumping the wheelchair in to the house, getting into the shower when he still could not walk, changing bandages, taking meds, getting in and out of bed etc. I am a PT in a hospital and do this work every day. Patrick and I only knew eachother a little before this. He needed to learn to trust me. That I would not move his leg the wrong way etc. We got over that quickly and have worked really well together.
He has progressed from no steps to 15 steps yesterday to 20 plus today. The steps are slow and by no means a mode of locomotion yet but he is not far off.
Steve has been away this entire time so it is Madison and me as well as the other Nor Cal crew: John Stark, Tom Glynn, Steve Cramer , Simon Mutlu and Mike Hedman. Everyone pitching in and helping.
I feel blessed on so many levels. To have friends like I have in the guys I mentioned is priceless. That God has blessed me with the PT skills and heart to care for others. I truly did not know I could do the things I have done in the last 3 days. But with prayer and support of others all things are possible.
Patrick is an amazing person. I feel fortunate to know him. He is on the mend but will need continued PT and support from all of us.
Thanks everyone for your kind words. All of us are capable of more than we know.
I also know that if CoachP went down and was stuck in Chicago the NIL folks would be doing the same thing as EN NorCal. And the same goes for anyone else within helping distance anywhere in the country. Yes, we ALL rock!
I had the good fortune to have CoachP all to myself for a couple of hours today. I have never had a chance to really "talk" with him before. Learned a lot about how EN works (I am always interested in business models), Marathon Nation and how EN TOC has evolved. Plus I had no idea he was a Harvard grad in Russian Studies, did Peace Corp in Uzbekistan and Kurdistan, and speaks Uzbek as well as enough Russian to be dangerous. What a great guy!
Here are a couple of pics from today for your viewing pleasure:

"Uncle Patrick." (l to r) The always fun Parker Glynn, Connor Glynn, Diane Glynn, Nolan Stark, Tom Glynn and Maddison Chavez out to lunch.
