30’ run on TM at gym with Zwift on the iPad. Followed up with short swim. Had to shift front of week back a day or so due to gi virus wrecking my house.
@Sabra Gonzalez Which one did you order?? I was thinking about doing the same thing, but wasn't sure I wanted to spend the $$$ for a Stryd Running Power Meter
50+ minutes of TRP done, sort of. So I for the life of me forgot to actually see what my TRP pace was, and as I logged into Zwift to start running I was like - crap! No clue what to do so I will just go. After sucking air for a good 2 miles I figured it out - I was going too fast for my desired pace and slowed it down and felt so much better.
I am at darn near walking paces right now due to heart rate - but coming off of being sick for 2 weeks ON TOP OF zero cardio activity for basically 2 years - I am good with just being able to wake up and do this!
I am with Marshall on this one - I am where I am... I am not planning on staying here!
Enjoyed my run yesterday and was able to run a bit faster (than my new slower paces) for the last mile. Today, the body reminded me we haven't run and biked much, so a nice long rolling session happened pre bike/run. Another one will go down tonight before bed. Hit the bike sets well and enjoyed another trp like brick today.
@Derrek Sanks - getting worried about being in Run jail and seeing the monster you are! @Larry Pfeffer - do I need to stop at your house and do an intervention? Once I get my cortisone shot next week, let's schedule a run! (outdoors!) @Jason Veith - I have a brand new still in box Garmin footpod that i bought for my daughter, she prefers to run outdoors all the time (in Cleveland!); make me a fair offer including USPS by PM & let's solve both of our problems! @Trish Marshall - T minus a few months until Ragnar, Keep it going! @Jeff Horn - I need to get the equipment for that, just a BT pod like stryd, right?
Woke up this morning with such a stiff neck I can barely move. So forget about swim/bike/run, I am just trying to make it through the day. Who has got the best home remedy? All suggestions are welcome no matter how off the wall they are.
@Patrick Large I don't have a remedy, but there is a medical forum...perhaps your post may get a response from one of the medical peeps in the haus over there! Feel better soon!!!

Scott, I sent you a PM. I already have a CABLE to send ANT+ data over BLE to my AppleTV/iPhone. The Garmin Footpod would work just fine using this method to get running pace into Zwift!
Thanks again for the offer! I'm always glad to help out a fellow EN'er
Jumped in and did Sundays long run today. I work Sunday/mondays. Still nursing a fever so let my HR lead the way. Still managed a 4 mile run without too mush suffering. Left plenty of sweat on the belt and a few dance moves.
Yes @Scott DinhoferI use Stryd as footpad bluetoothed to the ipad mini. Also run the 4iiii hrm to it as well. I think you could run the garmin $50hrm ant+ footpad through the CABLE device or the 4iiii hrm / sensor bridge.
I've been locked mostly on the TM for the last month. The weather has been screwy here. Last week it was -20 degrees and this week we had a warm-up. So, this week I have been fortunate to get two runs done outside. I did the Wednesday long run outside. This was a sloppy run with lots of jumping over and around things. Yesterday, while I was riding my VO2 intervals, the temperature got to 70 degrees. I ran outside right after the bike. It was great until the heavy rain started. Well, this morning it is 12 degrees so I will be back on the TM for the last two runs of the week.
Lurking in the shadows of the JOS Run thread. Finally coming back from some PF issues and finally getting back in the game. In order to combat the PF issue, I focused on durability and extremely low volume to maintain some semblance of fitness and to not lose to much durability. So based on the lessons from the 2 OS's I did in 16/17 timeframe, I think I know what I need as far as the run is concerned in order to keep pushing the envelope. So I will follow the OS plan with some minor tweaks and keep runs between 5-6 per week. The goal is to keep the hard days hard and the easy day easy coupled with some strength and mobility training! Keep at it!
First Sat run of the JOS. Colder than a witch's ****** out there! Roads were snow/iced covered so I was slipping all over the place. All I could stand was about ~40 minutes. Tried to make the best of it!!
Not keeping up with posting, but I've had a s***** schedule for work this week. Skipped Tuesday's brick run due to time. Did the Wednesday run, but only at level 1-ish. Deferred the brick run from Thursday to Friday, when I did 30'. This morning did 60' pushing from TRP up to Z3 for 60' (Z2-3 for the last 18 minutes or so). All running has been on TM and Zwift, since, unlike @Jason Veith I'm not man enough to run out on the frozen streets...
@ Bill Manard, Glad to see you are on it. When your schedule is overloaded, just get on the mill and get a mile in. Frequency is your friend. I just got finished with snow removal. Should have put my HR monitor on so I received a little credit for that work. Heading down to my bike now for an abbreviated Saturday ride and a brick on the mill.
@Edwin Croucher that's the plan; just get running in when I can, trying to maintain frequency more than distance/time. That's the key, at least in my belief. Unfortunately, I'm nursing a right Achilles tendinopathy right now, so some days the mill feels more miserable than others...
Keep on it @Bill Manard. My sh+t week is next week. On call M and Th so gonna be lots of juggling going on. No call this week so was a good first week to get JanOS off to good start.
Sharing my favorite recovery drink for after long runs: immersion blended yogurt, Proshake matcha flavor or protein powder, frozen mango, milk to texture. Noms. Especially delicious after on a 60 degree day in January, such a nice break from the frigid horrible that has been happening lately!! 6+ miles this morning in the sun at TRP with the final 1.5 at Z3. Hope everyone’s having a great day out there!
Got pretty busy after Thursday so here's my belated update:
Thursday's spotlight was on the 8x30" Crush bike workout, but the real value workout was the 3-mile run afterwards on tired legs; that run was a huge step towards building durability
Weather was miserable all week; thankfully there are treadmills: 2 runs in Cleveland; 1 outdoors; 2 at Y
Hit 20 miles for the week; longest week since IMLOU
8 hours total time for the week, including 2 strength WKOs; 423 TSS
Woke up this morning with such a stiff neck I can barely move. So forget about swim/bike/run, I am just trying to make it through the day. Who has got the best home remedy? All suggestions are welcome no matter how off the wall they are.
Epson salt bath and soak for at least 30 min at the warmest temp you can stand!
Got in my 60 min today! But it was at a walk @14'/mile and the PF issue didn't bark too loud. It was indeed cold here in North Carolina with a windchill of 19 degrees!
Got in my strength wko in and have faith that I'm making money! I'm really working the pull cord exercises that Rich recommends!
