  • @scott dinhofer is there a groupme for the Jan OS?

  • It's been a LOOONG trip. Last OS was 2 years ago. Achilles is still a tich grumpy at times but managable. Looking forward to a roll call to see who all's coming to play.

Great to see who our super star captains are!

    Let's get ready to rumble!

  • @scott dinhofer thanks for leading, I will try to stay with the group. 😁

  • I'll echo what Gary said, @scott dinhofer thanks for leading the JOS as bike Captain.

Looking forward to another OS, my 11th I believe. I've been fairly diligent in getting things prepared for the upcoming OS with some necessary repairs to the Zwift computer, new graphics card, which has been down for a couple months.

I have also invested some time in to several WKO5 webinars and will be purchasing the software upgrading from version 3 that I bought during my first OS just over 10 years ago.

Today I initiated an JOS schedule discussion with my wife as we will have to make a few adjustments getting Brody, our 2.5 year old ready in the AM so I can get in some bike workouts.

I am coming in around 205 lbs the lightest I've been in over 12 years so a great place to be.

Finally, WKO 5 has my FTP at 219, which seems about right I guestimated around 215 last week. I might hit a test tomorrow or just do a ride but I'm comfortable at 220-225 for the start.

I think I've got all the boxes checked other than coming in rested so looking for a couple extra hours of sleep between now and Tuesday.

  • Hi Ya'll,

4 weeks off after Alohaman and ready to get to in in the OS!

Thanks Scott for being the bike captain.

I downloaded the Zwift workout files but I don't know how to get them into Zwift. I've looked on the forums but can't find it. Anyone here know how to import them into Zwift?

  • edited January 4, 2020 3:57AM

@Mark Maurer . Open the file manager and go to the documents folder. There should be a sub folder called zwift. In that folder go to the workouts folder. There will be a numbered sub folder for every user. Inside of the number folder you can put the EN workouts. You can leave them in the folders with the sub folders for easy of storage. I fould a youtube video by zwift that showes is really good.

By the way this is my Hubs, Mark.

  • @Jacklyn Moore Thanks, I had done that, but I did it with Zwift open and they didn't show up. When I opened it just now the rides are there. I guess I don't have any excuses now. 😂

  • @Mark Maurer. No you don't! I have been on Zwift for 1 whole week. It is addictive! Poor Trainer road. Mark and I are doing Zwift dates! Our daughter curls up in the chair and picks our route. You guessed it. Straight UP! Her evil giggle is worth it.

Feeling pretty apprehensive and cautiously optimistic. Tired of being on the side lines. Totally jaked to get started.

Great to see you are here too!

@Jacklyn Moore I did most of my bike training for the Alohaman on Zwift. One day was 9,500' of climbing in 65 miles and another was 100+ miles with over 5,000' of climbing. 6 hour days staring at the computer. At one point my stomach dropped out when the course when through a small divot in the road. The main problem I have is staying in my zones. I get caught up in the other riders and try to keep up, catch them, or pass them and that spikes my power too high. OK for just riding but not so good for a structured training ride.

looks like we have a good group coming together. I would like to get a sense of how we get a bigger community interacting with each other. Forums vs Groupme? while i am usually a fan of the forums (the information is lasting) this is the one forum that is actually about creating mojo, vibe and keeping things going... if we get more mojo by having a groupme. I am all in, but that will cause the forum thread to suffer. btw, if you have never tried it, these forums are VERY useable on a phone and have great navigation, simply open in your web browser

    thoughts?

  • This will be my first OutSeason having joined the team last June. I'm coming off Run Durability and have also become addicted to Zwift racing. Looking forward to a great JOS with you guys. Thanks @scott dinhofer for being the captain.

There is a GroupMe chat for JOS (was used last year) if we want to use it.

  • For me it's the forum or nothing. I have not personal cell phone and won't partake in a groupme forum on my work cell unless I can get permission to use it. I'll have to look in to the policy.

  • @Gordon Cherwoniak There's a groupme app for windows and iOS if you want to use it.

Either works for me since I get email notifications when there's a forum post. Groupme seems more immediate and easier to use for sending quick messages and mojo. But the forums are better for longer posts like the one's Scott is probably going to be doing weekly. As for permanence, I've never gone back in the forums to check on past outseason posts. There's a lot of good work and status updates, but I haven't seen a lot of meaty material in the 5 years I've been doing them.

  • @Gordon Cherwoniak you can use your computer with groupme. I like the forums for knowledge and groupme for MOJO and banter. I don't think people in the future will care if I was able to compete my wko or if it was tough. They might learn something about execution or what the training plan layout was and why we are adjusting or suffering. I think they both have their place depending upon the message type.

  • I love Group me for race week. But concerned about it becoming an over whelming land slide of interaction. It would be nice to use both. SHort stuff for Group me. Long posts about more detailed stuff.

    It's up to you guys.

@Mark Maurer - I can see where Zwift can get WAY too intense.

  • @Vincent Sivirine how do we find the JOS group me..

people will need to police themselves for items that are #forumworthy and move those discussions to Les Forums!

  • In for the January OS. Had to move after Christmas. Still a few things left but finishing up today. Priority one was getting the bike setup taken care of. That is done and READY TO GO!!!

Groupme or Forums, does not matter to me. Like them both.

@scott dinhofer @Scott Alexander, this is the link for the JOS groupme. Can't remember how i found it.

  • Group Me is fun and brings the group together. The Forums remain the best way to detail the victories and challenges of the OS. Zwift is great... but like Run Streaks, it can distract me from the organization offered by the tried and true OS Plan. I appreciate the opportunity to have the JOS Forums to bring me back into focus. I’m currently in a good training place and am resetting from NOS to JOS after removing St George from my Spring race schedule for a combination of reasons, the most significant being a late season IM that I want to nail. @scott dinhofer is a WSM and knows what it takes to balance the OS Plan with the need to stay healthy. Thanks for leading us, Scott! @Gordon Cherwoniak is lean and mean... and I am looking forward to gaining some of his his knowledge of WKO. @Mark Maurer, I enjoy regular solo rides with lots of climbing, but also lack the discipline (and gearing on my trainer) to remain focused on my zones. I incorporate The Sufferfest and Rouvy to give me variety and control. I recently climbed to Hawi in my Pain Cave, and a goal for this JOS is to get a Tron Bike and PR The Four Horsemen! That sounds like Group Me Bantor, but I’m hoping that we can provide some “meaty material” in the JOS 2020 forum as well.

  • Thank, Scott!

I am in for the JOS. Although I definitely will be moving around workout a lot with the ski resorts open and full of snow! It seems like just when I think my work responsibilities might be getting a bit better, something happens and it all bites me in the butt.

Looking forward to joining with you all.

  • edited January 5, 2020 11:02PM

@John Culberson - I am not a WSM, but you can go over to the WSM nomination thread and help fix that😂🤣

hope everyone found the Groupme! - hopefully many will also choose to use Discord during rides to see who else is in Zwiftland and pump each other up

looking forward to the first ride on Tuesday. I will be SWAGging my FTP.. @Stephanie Stevens - i hear you on that ski thing... that's why you need to get some alpine touring gear... hardest frigging workout ever...

  • Let's get it done team! Don't slack on the strength and conditioning work

  • I am in for the Jan outseason but you know i'll be on groupme with the cool kids :-). Thanks for leading this @scott dinhofer

  • Thanks for leading us @Scott Alexander and @Daniel Ballin Looking forward to a challenging winter. Let goooo!

@scott dinhofer I'm just on trainerroad and the workouts are not sequential! How do I find all the workouts without having to search for each one?

I'm not able to get my ANT+ working to pick up HR, how do I resolve that?

    Never tried Zwift...

On TrainerRoad does the 'EN official warm up' go before every single workout?

  • edited January 6, 2020 5:11AM

@Sue DeJesus there's a search function in Trainer Road. I haven't looked yet but if the files are 2020 OS WkX you start with that and it sorts them for you. So, 2020 OS WK1 will give you all the week 1 files and weeks 10-14 but week 1 should be first.

How close is the ANT+ sensor to your trainer. I have ours on an extension right next to the bike.

  • I can confirm that the USB extension works great for ANT communication @Sue DeJesus

  • @Sue DeJesus - my setup is that I have a Wahoo desk above my handlebars with laptop on it, so it's a little more than the distance of handlebar mounted garmin to pedals/ kickr.

btw, this is almost identical to the Wahoo desk, for 1/2 the price

  • Glad to join you all in the JOS. Looking forward to gaining fitness and getting ready for another fun year of racing! I too will be moving some workouts around as the snow is starting to finally fall in the mountains around here:)

    Thanks for leading us Scott!

  • @scott dinhofer Although I know its generally best to stick to a workout as close as possible, I'd be interested on hearing folks take on the type of Zwift races that can be substituted for bike workouts during the week. I personally enjoy group races over structured workouts but that's just me.

@Tim Sullivan just pinging you since you are a Team EN Zwift Pro 🤣
