@Bernie - Holy Cow! We have a winner! One of the people in my tri-club has an 8 computrainer set up in her 3 car garage. I thought she must be the only one. I now stand corrected with my jaw on the floor.
@Nate - Can you post a screen capture pic of what you see when you reply?
Seriously, though - you just have 'Topic Review', and not 'Attachments' as an option? Just this thread, or others as well? What browser do you use? (I use Chrome, but I'd think it'd work just as well for IE).
Site is coded in ASPX which is IE so it will definitely always work in that browser unless you have browser add-ins that block stuff. I'm sure it also works in Safari as Coach P is a Apple guy and if it was broken I'm sure it would be fixed quickly. Ryan confirmed Chrome works and I use Firefox which works with the only caveat that if you are using version 17 (latest) it will break some of the page template layouts. I just downgraded back to 16.02 for that reason.
So do send a screen shot and we can figure it out.
Bernie, why take them down? The Christmas tree in my house has been up for almost two years. The wife and I giggle every now and then when we talk about it.
@ Bernie: He did my bike fitting in his "pain cave"- VERY COOL set-up, but it was pre-Christmas decorations, so I feel sort of like I missed out Also, I wonder if you've done any research Bernie on if the lights positively affect FTP testing
Roy, Maybe I will leave them up. The Christmas tree has been up at my house almost 2 years also. One of my sons was deployed to Afghanistan over the 2011 Christmas holiday so we kept the house decorated until he came home. Well he came home in July and we just never got around to taking down the tree. My wife and I continue to be amused by by this.
Every now and then we have something worthwhile going on here - not sure if the facebook link will work but it's mosly about bike fitting and computrainer training.
Thanks Steve, I haven't done any research on the effect of these lights on FTP testing. I will tell you that I demolished my C2 rowing 10K PR (1 week post IMAZ) after putting the lights up.
We should be doing some threshold testing before Christmas - Come join us!
You have my contact info, but as long as I'm throwing FB links around...
@Bernie - any chance the house next door to you is up for sale? I think I might move in... and spend my mornings in your garage if that's ok with you....
Wow, Bernie! Very Awesome! And thanks to your son for his service!
@Jess - I've seen pics and a video of your pain cave from the Ice Cream TT. If you abandon it and move in next to Bernie, I would be glad to take over your "old place".
I get very strange looks from people up and down the block because of all the people carrying bikes in and out of my house. My next door neighbor asked me what was going on with all the bikes and I told him that "we were riding in the basement". To this day he thinks there are a bunch of people riding laps around the basement of a typical tri level suburban house.
Nothing special here. It's all temporary. No glitz. No glory. Just pain. I also have to try to remember to not give myself a concussion on that dang pipe every time I go down there.
Ok this is probably THE most non-fancy pain cave out there. No laptop, no TV...just me and I have barely enough room to get on, ride and get in the zone. But it works.
You've got 5 gallon buckets, 5 gallon buckets can save a lot of clean up time if you happen to be riding with a "puker". The buckets in my studio have been used a number of times
Here are a few pics of my pain cave. The big EN flag will be the only addition this winter.
I think this is awesome, love have you incorporate training with medals, artwork, bikes / bike parts... I'm gradually creating a somewhat similar setup. I think it definitely helps to have a place you enjoy coming to that also gives you inspiration, rather than a cold, emotionless space. Awesome!!!
Getting a garage rehab. Spending the last days moving garage crap to a storage pod in the front yard. Will be raising the roof. Two large skylights, one that opens. New concrete. Getting rid of inside door mechanism to open it up. New big French doors. No windows for security. Plan is for dedicated bike shop and pain cave. Hopefully will be done within a couple months.
I love this thread! It is always so cool to steal ideas, get inspired and see where your friends "work".
@Robin - You project sounds awesome. That makes me really jealous. I spent a lot of time trying to turn my garage into a little shop, but it is really limiting without doing a construction project. If are looking for ideas, check out this forum. Their are some garages/ workshops here that are just mind blowing. When I did what I could with what I had, this site was really a lot of fun. http://www.garagejournal.com

Well done, Sir! Very festive.

Thanks Nate, The lights definately changed the vibe of the workout - I'm going to miss them when it's time for them to come down.
Brian, you need to make the 7 minute drive over here more often

Just like the page and you will be kept up to speed on group training, threshold testing etc.

Jess - Please buy the house next door.

Move in and I'll give you a key
My Pain Cave is my Theatre Room.
When I see others suffering, I'm motivated to turn myself inside-out and suffer even more... : )
Enjoyed seeing the variety of creative spaces on this thread...

Looking Good Brian!!!!

I really do admire the Spartan setup.

Yeah I saw you had a whiteboard, I liked that a lot also!

We may need a "show us your garage" thread....

Wow! Seriously, these look more like 'Happy Places' than pain caves. So awesome -- anyone looking for a roommate
