Cycling and Tri Kit Order, Jan-Feb 2012

Order ends Monday, February 13th

Team,

Time to get your EN cycling and tri kits if do not already have them! Here's how it works:

Cycling Kit, by Capo

  • Go to the EN Store to order.
  • We are taking orders now through Feb 13.
  • Prices shown are member prices, no need for a discount code. All prices are just above our cost.
  • You can expect delivery in late April

Cycling items available:

  • Men's and women's cycling jerseys, in all sizes, including 3XL
  • Men's bibs, in all sizes
  • Convertible jacket, in all sizes, including 3XL. The EN jacket was a BIG hit with the team as race weekend, transition, be seen in your supacool EN attire...attire...in 2011. New for 2012 is a "convertible" jacket: the sleeves zip off turning the jacket into a vest so this is truly a 2-in-1 item!

    Description

"Our wind jackets are built with windtex plus, a lightweight, wind and waterproof fabric. The side panels use our v-mesh fabric for breathability. This is a great piece for temperatures under 65F."

Common cycling kit questions:

Inventory, returns, and future buying opportunities:

We will NOT maintain an inventory of cycling kit. Here is how we are working this order:

  • We will order from Capo what you order from us.
  • We'll then order a small quantity of common sizes as a small inventory to handle any returns and exchanges for size reasons.
  • If we can't fix your issue during this exchange process, we'll refund your money.
  • Once those exchanges are processed, we'll put _that_ remaining inventory back in the store and expect it will go very quickly. At that time, about mid-May, we'll be out of inventory until the next order, likely in the Fall.
  • Bottomline: if you want cycling kit for 2012, highly recommend you order it now during this order.

Sizing

See the Capo size charts in the Store. Cycling companies usually have two lines of clothing: the EuroPro skinny, 12yo girl arms kit and their "normal" person kit. The Capo EN kits are their "normal" person kits but they still fit pretty snug. Most of you have met me (5'9", 155-170lb) and I'm a large jersey, large bibs. When IM fit I'm about a medium/medium. I would say if in doubt, go UP a size.

Armarmers: this is a fall, winter item, we won't get them in time, so will likely do another order in Fall 2012

Women's shorts: between Crucible Fitness and EN, this is about my 6-7th round of ordering cycling and tri kits. I've found it extremely difficult to meet people's expectations with regards to shorts: everyone has their particulars and it's just been very, very difficult to meet the minimum order requirements for women's shorts.

Triathlon Racing Tops, by Louis Garneau

EN has 20-45 athletes at every Ironman, similar numbers at most halfs, about 2x that number of family members on the course, and a HUGE brand presence in the Ironman space. EN athletes are also widely recognized as race execution ninjas...no joke, you will find people keying their races off of you because they KNOW that you KNOW what you're doing!

In short, the mojo of racing in EN kit is HUGE. You really, really want to plug yourself into this by racing in the EN kit!

Details:

  • Go to the Store to order. No discount code required, prices are just above our cost.
  • We have items in stock, ready to ship. If we don't have your size in stock, it will be ordered mid Feb and shipped to you probably mid-late April.
  • We will maintain a small inventory of tri singlets so you can order later in the year and either get it right away, or you may have to wait 8-12wks.

Sizing: see the LG size charts in the store. Look for the Performance Delfino top, that's ours, same cut and fit as last year, they've just changed the name.

The "mostly free" singlet for new members: sorry, we did away with this program several months ago as it was just too expensive. We hope you still decide to purchase and race in an EN singlet!

Shorts:

See my notes above. We are even more picky with tri shorts, considering that we are a team of IM athletes racing 70-140 miles in our shorts . Our solution is to provide you with discounts from a variety of vendors so you can source your own perfect shorts solution! More on that later!

Please ask your questions below but let's confine this thread to tri and cycling kit only, not hats, visors, tatoos, stickers, beer cuzzy's and EN Woobies! We'll create another space for those discussions!

  • Do you have a link to the Capo description of the unadorned jacket? Not complaining, but I want to know what I'm getting if I'm going to drop that kind of $. :-)
  • I'm in - just want to wait until I see the sizing chart.
  • Wore mine today - sizing info:

    I'm 6'1" 170ish - I wear a size L in both Jersey and Bibs. Hope that helps.
  • @Rich - I had planned on picking up the thermal Jacket this year, but since I already have the vest from last year, is it still worth getting the new convertible jacket?
  •  It looks like the Capo sizing runs small.  I found their product catalog here.  It lists the XL for a 42 chest.  Too small for this clydesdale.

    It's a really cool kit.

I know the Garneau XL should work for me so I'll be in for the tri jersey and prolly hat and visor.

  • on LG sizing...I'm 6'1 170 lbs and wear a "L"
  • All: we will add XS, XL, and XXL sizing options for all items. IOW, if you're a lil/big peep, this is your opportunity to order your kit!

  •  Yeah Cary,

I know this is probably more work for the guys but I would secound another order of the thermal jacket... I was hoping to pick one up this year too....

  •  I'll probably just get the tri jersey and a XXL Cycling Jersey, with hat and visor.

Even though I'd love to have the full kit(jacket, shorts, and jersey), the sizing worries me.  I'm not fat, I'm just a big dude.  250# 6'4" and about 10% body fat at the moment.   I'm wondering what the jacket would do with my shoulders, even the XXL

  • Ok... at the risk of opening up a HUGE can of worms, and at the risk of this being misinterpreted electronically, is it at all possible to send clothing to the screening company and have the EN logos applied? I would love to wearEN attire - I also know that I have specific tri shorts and a prefer a sleeveless cycling jersey vs. a traditional tri top. At 6' 4" and 225-ish right now, the pickins' are pretty slim (no pun intended) for the big fellas!

If this is not an option, what about having an EN patch available to be sewn onto our own clothing? For several years, I had an American flag sewn onto a Pearl Izumi sleeveless cycling jersey - held up like a champ!

As a person who has handled the ordering of uniforms for tri teams, I can understand, appreciate and respect the challenges that go with a project of this magnitude - especially when one cannot try a kit on.

    Thanks!
  • @Woody - we have some flexibility to do this type of thing, but it's really dependent on the specific item. If you or anyone has an apparel need that isn't offered on the eStore PM or email engearguy@gmail.com and we can go over other options.
  • @Cary, that's up to you, your $169, and the use you do/don't get out of kit like that. I can tell you that I don't think I've ever worn my jacket on the bike...but I'm SoCal so my layer solution has been armwarmers, vest, jersey, maybe a rain jacket for cold descent, etc. But the jacket, worn at races, etc, is shit hot. I've gotten a ton of comments from members and it's been a huge hit as in members telling us "when can I get a jacket??!!"

I'm sure you could buy it and then sell your current vest to a member of the team?

@Woody: we are fine to let you do whatever you want to do. We understand everyone has their own preferred solution for racing kits. We've gone with the highest quality, works for 95% of us solution, and your comments are exactly why we don't offer tri shorts, because it's been nearly impossible to find a solution that everyone is happy with.

  • @Sam - excellent sizing link to Capo.

I'm a 42' Chest so I fit the Large. Also, I'm 5'10" and 185 and based on what Rich said, I ordered a large bike jersey. If it runs small - looks like I'll be in the kibuki dance exchange. But, I hedged my bet and ordered a XL Jacket since I will be wearing it mostly at pre and post race stuff.
  • Just tried to order the L arm warmers but they were out of stock so I couldnt add to order. Is this a bug?

    Sorry...meant medium

  • @George - Arm Warmers won't be ordered until the fall. Are you referring to the sunsleeves perhaps?

    Joe,

In my experience you're between a large and an XL, and it's probably a matter of how you like your cycling kit to fit and the diameter of the guns, frankly. Patrick is about your size so I'd reach out to him.

  • All - please see related link here http://bit.ly/zunyq9 and share any pictures of your EN gear to help others out with sizing.
  • XL Bibs, XXL Jersey and XXL jacket...ORDERED!

Yes white sun sleeves I guess

  • bummer, I am big dood so 48" chest and 36' waist isn't going to fit the XXL jacket. If you create an option for us to custom order logo'd gear from another vendor let me know.
  • @George - the white sun sleeves are available to be ordered. Please PM me if you have any issues.

@Dusty - please email me at ENGearGuy@gmail.com...I have a few options you may be interested in.
  •  I cannot get the sizing charts to load. Is anyone else having this problem? Maybe it's a Mac thing?

  • Gene, I have the same problem, and I also have a Mac. When I click on sizing guide, it says 'coming soon'. For the tri top, I looked at the LG website, they have a sizing guide. It looks like someone posted a link to Capo farther down in the thread.
  • Here are the links for anyone having issues:

    Capo: http://bit.ly/xmK7oi

    LG: http://bit.ly/xfwg3x
  •  Is anyone else having problems ordering the kit?  I get all the way through my order, enter my Amex and get the following error message:  Error 2: The configuration with processor is invalid. Call Merchant Service Provider

I sent a message thru the customer service link on the page with the error, but have not had any response from the vendor.

    Greg

  • Greg - we've seen orders coming through fine, but I know some internet browsers are having issues. Please email me directly at engearguy@gmail.com and we'll sort out any issues.
  • is the convertible jacket/vest thing a thermal garment, or just unlined nylon, like a shell?
  • I've looked around at local shops to try on capo jackets. I haven't found any that are smaller sizes. My question is--is the vest/jacket stretchy at all, ie: if I am riding aero will the jacket stretch? If so, I'd prefer a tight fitting jacket/vest, but if it won't move then I'd have to go with a larger size...
