2013 Team EN National Rally Announcement!!!!

** Registration Update / See Who's Coming Below **

Folks, we are LIVE with this!!! After much hard work by a dedicated admin team of VOLUNTEERS (your teammates!) I am pleased to announce that the rally is open.

Full details are online via the rally page here: http://www.endurancenation..../

PLEASE NOTE REGISTRATION IS TEAM MEMBERS ONLY THROUGH NOVEMBER 1ST, 2011.

EXCEPTION -- YOUR SPOUSE can register right now, but that's it. No first cousins!!!

We only have 50 spots and we want Team there first. After 11/1 we'll raise the price by $50 and open it to our plan athletes, fans, etc. This includes your friends who aren't on TeamEN, etc.

Put all your questions below, but know this -- this is an epic weekend for all ability levels, not just Ionman folks. There will be short stuff, swim stuff, epic stuff and fun stuff. (and apparently, lots of adult beverages??).

  • Okay, this rally thing looks like lots of fun, hard work and certainly warmer than WI. I'd like to attend, BUT... I am a rank beginner and while I do plan to kick some ass (mainly my own) and work on my fitness this winter with the out season plan, I will still be eons away from the skill, fitness, and endurance levels of those I envision attending. Is attending this rally then going to be beneficial for me?

  • P (and Stark),

Sorry to be that guy, but it has never stopped me before...

Knowing that the cost of past camps has been fairly minimal, the $400 cost of the camp is a change. What will the $40K ($400 x 100) cover? Do we have details on lodging rates yet?

    Thanks in Advance!
  • @Jennifer: The goal is for everyone to have fun!  So we will be covering everything from "just having fun" groups to "Crush Coach Rich" group.  (actually, I am being silly here . . . Rich is gonna crush US!)  So you should have company out there.

@Jeff:  Ya, we discussed the type of camp we wanted and we all decided to step it up this time.  This will not only be great for the EN folks, but also the spouses, etc.  My wife will be there mostly to warm up after a long winter and lounge by the pool and also "have fun" on some rides and runs.  We believe we are adding a lot of value with a Saturday night dinner at a ranch, guest speakers from the triathlon community, KILLER accomodations at Loews, total SAG suport by TriSports.com with mechanics on duty in a SAG vehicle before/during/after the rides, bike shipping services to and from Tucson (build, deliver to hotel, pickup at hotel, ship home), etc.  Lot's more details coming, but you will be getting your money's worth.  At least we think you will be.  Hope this helps.

FYI - We also have alternate, less expensive accomodations listed on the site as well if that helps.  Less expensive, but still very nice:  http://www.endurancenation.us...ly-2013/#3

  • Hey Jennifer I have been to several of the tri-rallys EN has put on and there are all levels of athletes there. There will be other beginners there along with AG ranked athletes. This rally would be huge for a beginner as well as anyone else. The training will be done at the level of fitness that you bring. You will gain awesome experience and as with any epic training weekend your fitness will make a great gain. Just being around the other ENers will be worth going to the event.
  • Ya, what Eric said!

    Thanks, Eric!

  • We are going all in with this camp. Ask the volunteer squad, they'll tell you that as of TODAY, EN will be losing, yes LOSING money on this camp. We have tons of schwag and other great stuff to be included...consider it the "anti-free camp" that we put on, but with all the Team awesomeness and much, much more. If you want, you can spend $795 for the same time and train with this guy (http://www.coachtroy.com/products/item65.cfm) or $1895 for 2 more days and logding with these guys (http://www.thecyclinghouse.com/camps/tucson-az/triathlon-camp-with-ironman-champion-linsey-corbin/) or about the same price but train with this guy (http://www.graskyendurance.com/Tucson_Camps.html). My point is this...the camp is competitively priced and will be beyond awesome. image

@Jennifer, hope you can make it for the fun!!!
  • Just signed up - Whoo Hoo very excited!!!
  • UH OH!  Mary has signed up!?  Now I HAVE to be on my best behavior!

    WOOHOO!  Gonna be a B L A S T!    Looking forward to meeting you!

  •  I'll be there. If we get enough OFs, maybe we can get some shirts which say, "You've just been geezered" for when we pass the YFs while running?

    And the SMACK talk begins!

NOTE: I know Al can kick my arse. So I hope you cannot be "geezered" if you're expecting and waiting for it!

  • Who qualifies as a geezer? I want one of those t-shirts.

Isn't a geezer someone who is at least two years older than one's self?

But, I had 50 in mind as the cut off. Although you might also qualify for the T shirt which gave me the idea in the first place> "You've just been chicked!"

  • Paging EN Gear Guy...this has GOT TO HAPPEN!!!
  • Oh, this is the week following San Juan 70.3 - I don't think I can do both, and I booked the San Juan trip a long time ago. I will miss meeting and training with the gang.
  • I just signed up image Never been to any tri camp, so I am pretty excited!
  • @Cary, bummer...we could have used you there.

@Yasko, we are honored!!!!! Going to be a blast!
  • places to stay? Lodging that is....

please fill me in on suggestions. I think this sounds great. right now I am exhausted!
  • @cary, you should come out just for the social...
  • It's the days off, I'm taking off from 3/14 - 3/19 for SJU. I don't think i can swing 3 more days, maybe - it's possible.

The sponsored lodging suggestions are listed on the rally event site (www.endurancenation.us/landing/endu...ly-2013/#3). Loews Ventana Resort is the main spot where all the activities are centered around. But there's also another spot, the Embassy Suites, closer to downtown Tucson.

  • it looks like lodging is at the Loews based on material....

Looks expensive.... is it practical to stay somewhere else less expensive?

@Al - I would wear this with great caution! In a race, it's cool on the bike but in the run it just becomes a bullseye!

  • I'm in! I'll be there with my wife who is non-athletic and wants to just kick back, hang out at the pool, do tours, shop, and enjoy the social stuff we get to do!

I registered at the Host Hotel and although I didn't get the "order processed" screen, I did enter my e-mail and expect to get something in an e-mail in short order like I did for our tickets.

Also, I've never shipped my bike and I'm looking forward to this new experience. Maybe I'll start flying to races and really branch out!

Joel, what's the email you used to register? I'll ensure GA has your spot.

  • @Scott - I got a confirmation e-mail today from Dian Golden, the POC at Golden Adventures. I'm confirmed!
  • John,

What are the details on the bike shipping?  This will be a big factor in my decision to sign up or not.  I don't have a bike box and don't really want to ship my bike on an airline.    Thanks.

    Bruce

  • I'M IN! Excited to finally climb the infamous Mt Lemmon. Will it be tougher then biking up or running up Lemon Hill? That's a Philly thing.
  • The list of awesomeness keeps growing! Please note the Team discount goes away on 11/1 and we open it up to the world. image
  • Man, I wish I could come. My wife is a teacher and her and my daughter both have spring break the week before so I've got to plan a vacation with them. I'm hoping the stars and dates come into alignment another year.

    Bruce:

As of this moment . . . you ship to TriSports and they can hold it for you and you pick up there (they are on the way from the airport to Loews) or have it sent to Loews Resort for you to pick up there.  We will have a secure room for bike pick-up.

For $100 TriSports will also assemble your bike and have it ready for pick or deliver it to Loews AND disassemble, box up and ship to anywhere you want in the U.S.  All for the $100.

So, in short, you pay to ship to Tucson and pay TriSports to ship it home for you.

If you don't want any of the assemble, disassemble stuff, the TriSport fee for simply receiving and shipping back will be less.  I will look into that fee.

    John
