IMWI is my first IM, so I am going to have to go to that camp. Love Tucson. Have ridden Mt. Lemmon and it is awesome. We will not be able to make this trip. Super sad about it.
OK...totally noob question...When you say we pay to ship to Tucson, does this mean we need a bike box? (My neighbor has one I can use) I am soooo new to this whole bike ship thing and only did it one time for a race with tri bike transport, so there was no disassemble/reassemble stuff going on. I get the $100 fee for the goods once in Tucson, but do you all take on the plane wtih you or what other options are there? This is a deciding factor for me...THANKS!!
Frontier will also ship a bike for $50 each way. I got an aircarrier: http://www.aircaddy.com/ There is very little to take apart (pedals need to come off and seat post as well) That's it. We shipped to FL and everything went really well. No issues with Frontier.
Annie: Several ENers have tried and like ShipBikes.com. You can use your own box, if you have or borrow one, but they do sell the AirCaddy which seems to make packing a bike VERY easy. They have very good shipping rates compared to doing it yourself through UPS or FedEx, and will schedule pick-up if you like. Another option is to take it down to the local bike store for pack-n-ship. They can get a better shipping rate than a non-business shipper.
Robert: Many of us will be there starting on Tuesday. Come join us! :-)
All: Regarding the bikse shipping stuff . . . . I have another call next week with TriSports and will get all this finalized with pricing, etc. at that time. And I will ask for additional recommendations for bike shipping companies. TriSports hosts 60+ tri camps every winter so they should have a good handle on all this.
John Stark: You mentioned a final conversation with TriSports this week or last about final arrangements... what are the odds EN could negotiate a team discount on bike rental that week, for those who might be considering that option with their Velolet subsidiary?
I pulled the trigger. Sounds like one of those fun things to do with your fitness. I'm psyched. That's what I'll think about during the dark days of OS winter here in Illinois. Let us know when you get the bike info.
I think I've made longer road trips for far less, the Midwest Endurance Sports expo a few years back comes to mind, so I suppose I can make the pilgrimage when RnP setup shop more or less in my neck of the woods.
Officially in and definitely driving (~6hrs from SD), will see you guys there!
@Michael - Sure, we will issue a credit as long as we don't get dinged. As of this moment we are still finalizing the contracts so the deadline for refunds will be posted once we have all of the contracts done.
Sorry for the delay in responding to you messages. My bad.
signed up, tickets purchased and looking forward Big time!!!!
a TRAINING "dress code" question/request: though I guess EN gear is not mandatory but nice to have and I only have racing delfino Tri top, is it possible to have newly purchased running and cycling gear delivered to our camp's hotel?
x2 on Juan's request. I have tri top, but that's it. Need to represent with other gear if possible. Would be great to be able to put on the Christmas list as well...
Robert, we don't control that page of the store; that's our supplier. I will check in with them via email...thanks! In order to get cycling kit for the camp, we would need to submit an order for the Team (400 pc minimum, $20,000 investment), considering we are spending even more on that on Tri Kit this year, we don't have the financial bandwidth to do both simultaneously. One day we certainly hope to be able to have a six-figure line of credit to kit out the whole Team...it's just not available to us right now. Thanks for understanding!

Bike box stuff:
Unless you plan to travel with your bike lots and lots (RnP), highly recommend you find a box to borrow or rent from a local friend or bike shop.

Ha have been trying to find out if there is a refund policy on the Tucson camp 2013, if cancelled in plenty of notice of course.

We will not have cycling kit available in time for the camp. We "might" have tri tops but that's a long shot.
