Secret Goal: Just Keep Moving! Keep smiling, stay sane, and be a role model to my girls of a kick-butt athlete!
Hey All,
So happy to join this group! I started with the Nov OS and then had to take a break for a family medical thing. Can't wait to get back in the game. I was with EN a couple of years ago and then took last year off to receover from a skiing accident ("Grace" is my well earned nickname). I train and race to keep sane and because it's the only time I have to myself. My accident last year reminded me how grateful I am to be able to MOVE! I look nothing like your stereotypical triathlete (well except for the shaved legs of course ) and I will likely be the biggest and slowest on the team but I'm cool with that.. lots of room for improvement! Luckily I love the journey
Double Top Secret Training Goal: Staying committed to the training over the long haul to get to IM distances (with speed rather than survival as the goal)
Tom Habbe Rapid City, South Dakota, I can see Mt Rushmore from my house....with a good pair of binoculars! A race Boulder 70.3. Secret goal: get faster and have fun while still enjoying my wife and 6 kids!
Jim Yanoschik Originally I could qualify as a Detroit Mafia-(my dad taught in the projects at Herman Gardens and played football at Notre Dame and won a national championship in 1949 for the Irish. Will be watching the BCS game tomorrow even if I went to Michigan.) Now I live in Murrieta, CA which is about 1 hour north of San Diego. A race IM AZ & Oceanside Secret goal-get my 100 mile belt buckle in May. Don't tell the coaches.

David Salzman Chicago, IL A Race: Racine 70.3 and IM MOO (#3) Secret goals: Get past mile 4.2 of the bike at Racine.... & to be disciplined on the bike in wisconsin to be able to have a decent showing on the run.
Betsy Kantor Scottsdale, AZ A race-of course, my backyard-AZIM (2nd time) Planning on Quassy Rev 3 or KS HIM 6/2 and Folsom HIM 8/2 as well as some Olys Plan-3.5W/kg by end of OS, continue working on the swim (1.5 years of lessons/work to date) to get under 2'/100 and get through the fall IM training without the injuries that kept me from doing all my running this past fall!
Scott Davis High Point, NC A race is IM Tahoe If I can get a spot, on waiting list, Raleigh 70.3, and some various sprints locally Big goal for me is getting stronger core, more flexibility, and improving running form. Also shooting for the elusive 3 W/KG club.
Hey guys and gals. It feels good to be back in the saddle. I am enjoying the forums and reading about everyone's training and racing exploits.
Mark Stovall
St Simons Island, Georgia
My A race is Ironman Canada in August and the Gulf Coast HIM in May
My main goals are to build a stronger core and run the entire marathon in Whistler!
My double secret goal is to gain enough swimming fitness to venture into the pool and swim with the Masters team. It's not that I am not confident in my swimming as I swam at the University of Georgia (albeit 30 years and 45 pounds ago). It's just that the Master's team trains along side of the local club swim team and my boys are on that team. It's one thing to know you can crush your old man but it's a whole 'nuther thing to do it. I am not quite ready to give them that satisfaction!!
Late to the party again!!! A races: get a BQ in April (delayed from january due to illness); IMMT in August and IMAZ in November. Then, just to have a lot of fun!
A Race - Vineman full (unless I get luck with the Kona lottery this year)
Double Top Secret Training Goal - Two actually - 1) get out of the sub 200 watt club on the bike. Starting OS at 186, so I think I've got a good chance. 2) Run more of the marathon after mile 15 (that seems to be my line) - Thanks to Rich suggesting the run focussed plan right before OS, I'm starting the run better than usual also.
Lisa Comer Corning NY (in the middle of western NY) A Race. HIM Las Vegas Goal. Get faster on the bike! Secret goal...Thinking about my 1st IM for 2014
Goal: Race Goal - Really LEARN how to race EN style! Personal Goal - Better body composition and increased flexibility ( wife believes I may be the least flexible person on earth)
•Yasko Howell • Olympia, WA • A Race: IM Canada, early season race undecided, would like to do HIM in May/June • Really want to improve my bike time, and am working on swim technique this winter... and No injury!
Dave - maybe we need a new thread for the Jan 14 OS! Meanwhile:
Paul Hough, Tampa, FL
Goals - Qualify for 2015 IITU World Long Course Championship at USAT National Long Course Champs in June 2014 (just finishing should do the trick) then regroup to face my youngest son at IMFL and hope he doesn't thrash me too badly in his 1st IM.
Trying to drop some weight over the OS. Having a huge time with it thus far. And I'm exhausted whether I sleep 5 hours or 10. Frustrated so much so that I'm going to an Endo towards the end of the month to see what the hell might be going on.
